By Jane Mlambo| MDC Alliance activist Cecelia Chimbiri has questioned the police over the selective application of the law after they allowed ZANU PF members to gather and toyi-toyi at the unveiling of Mbuya Nehanda statue yesterday.

Chimbiri who together with Harare West legislator, Joana Mamombe spend over two months in detention charged with breaching COVID-19 regulations accused the police of being ZANU PF.

“Police you arrest us and we spend 62 days etc in jails for just breathing in front of a court , How about this ? Are others above the law because they are Zanu , you need to explain this oh no wait you won’t because you are Zanu Pf police,” said Chimbiri.

Yesterday, ZANU PF members gathered at the Mbuya Nehanda statue in large numbers while some youths could be seen toyi-toying in breach of COVID-19 regulations.

Many opposition MDC Alliance members have been arrested and detained for breaching COVID-19 regulations including a case where Chimbiri and Mamombe were taken after addressing a press conference outside the Harare Magistrates Court.
