Defeated Lungu Submits To Long Time Opposition Hichilema

By A Correspondent- Outgoing Zambian President Edgar Lungu has submitted himself to President-elect Hakainde Hichilema and pledged to work with him.

Lungu lost the last Thursday Presidential poll with a wide margin to Hichilema.

The defeated outgoing President had initially hinted at contesting the election results but later conceded defeat.

Monday morning Lungu said he met with HH and agreed to hand over power peacefully.

Said Lungu on Monday morning:

Earlier today the President-elect Mr Hakainde Hichilema and I met at the residence of our 4th Republican President Rupiah Banda, where we held a meeting with the Commonwealth Chief Observer, the former Tanzanian President, Jakaya Kikwete and AU Chief election Observer, former Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma. We discussed matters concerning our country’s future. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and I wish to that all the leaders who were present. We continue putting our nation first.
