By A Correspondent- A 38 year old Mukumbura man is in soup after he tried to sell a live pangolin for US$2000 to Zimbabwe National Parks officials.

Moses Mabhande of Gomo village in Mukumbura was arrested on Friday after he fell in a trap by a team of Zimparks and police.

Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo confirmed the case.

“I can confirm the arrest of Mabhande who was in possession of a live pangolin and  was looking for a buyer before being arrested following a tip off,” Dhliwayo said.

Mabhande is alleged to have been called by the team and went to Harare where they finalized the alleged deal.

He demanded cash upfront but the team demanded the product first upon releasing the pangolin he was then arrested.

The police warned people against hunting protected animals.

“It is prohibited to hunt ,possess, sell or buy of protected animal as it requires a special permit from conservative committee hence those who are found on the wrong side will be prosecuted.”
