Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa is directly involved in the arrest and persecution of perceived Zanu PF opponents, the MDC Alliance has said.

Speaking to ZimEye.com on Monday, MDC Alliance deputy spokesperson Clifford Hlatywayo condemned the persecution of party members in Gutu.

Two MDC Alliance officials were arrested in Gutu on Sunday.

Hlatywayo said :
This is a clear political arrest engineered by a failed party called Zanu PF.

It has been abusing state institutions including police by giving instructions and political demands. It’s clear that it’s ZANU pf not police.

It is Zanu pf that is in panic mode and is afraid of the people that’s why it targets the people’s leaders. MDCA are leaders of society as it represents the interests of people in communities.

As we are speaking across the country, across the political divide all people are saying uChamisa Nguye Kaangena.

We demand the immediate and unconditional release of the Gutu leadership.
