Renowned Thobela FM radio presenter, Skhumbuzo Mbatha, was robbed of his valuables at gunpoint by unknown suspects on Sunday night, September 8. The incident occurred around 22:30 on the N17 ramp into N1 in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

In a detailed social media post, Mbatha recounted the harrowing experience, stating that two individuals, speaking in an “overtly foreign language,” pointed a gun at him and searched him for approximately 10 minutes. The robbers made off with his two phones and other valuables.

Mbatha, who co-hosts Ntshirogele and plays Mpho Manaka on Skeem Saam, expressed that he is still shaken by the ordeal. “I am not fine, I had guns pointed at me for a good 10 minutes,” he said. The robbers forced him to walk towards an old mine dump, where they thoroughly robbed him, before instructing him to drive away on his bike without looking back.

The incident has left Mbatha traumatized, and he is still coming to terms with the experience.
