The Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team will receive a US$1 million allocation from the government to support their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, set to take place in Morocco.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube revealed the allocation during his presentation of the 2025 National Budget on Thursday, stating:
“The government has made a provision of US$1 million for the preparation and participation of the Zimbabwe National Football Team (Warriors) in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for December 2025 in Morocco.”
This will be Zimbabwe’s sixth appearance at the prestigious tournament, marking a significant milestone as it will coincide with 20 years since their debut at the 2004 AFCON in Tunisia.
Additionally, the government has earmarked Z$189 million for the ongoing renovations of the National Sports Stadium.
