At least eight Christians from Thembisa were detained by police at a roadblock on the N14 near the Kgosi Mampuru truck stop during the night.

The group was en route to a prayer service in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, when the incident occurred.

Authorities claim that the individuals, who were travelling in a minibus, were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants.

The police’s actions have raised concerns among the community, as the worshipers were reportedly in possession of proper documentation, with some claiming the detentions were made without clear explanation.

The incident has sparked an outcry among locals, who are calling for greater transparency and respect for citizens’ rights.
