A severe hailstorm in Bindura district, Mashonaland Central province, has left 14 families homeless and stranded. The storm caused extensive damage, prompting a visit from provincial leaders to assess the situation and plan for assistance.

The delegation, led by Honourable Christopher Magomo, the Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister for Mashonaland Central, toured the affected area to evaluate the extent of the damage and discuss possible relief efforts for the victims.

Ms. Lydia Hlabati, the Assistant District Development Coordinator for Bindura, shared that the Civil Protection Unit in Bindura has compiled damage assessments and informed relevant authorities at the national level.

In response to the disaster, Honourable Remigio Matangira, the legislator for Bindura South, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in such crises. “When violent storms occur, people need to work together to mitigate the disaster’s impact. We are grateful for the quick response by the Provincial Civil Protection Unit and other stakeholders who have provided food aid,” he stated.

The Avondour Farm community, particularly affected by the storm, is in urgent need of support. With ongoing heavy rains, the government is urging local communities to stay vigilant and prepared for any further emergencies.
