Acting President Kembo Mohadi’s recent celebration of the installation of bucket seats at the National Sports Stadium in Harare has sparked a wave of criticism and skepticism. Mohadi hailed the upgrade as a significant achievement for Zimbabwe’s sports infrastructure and a key milestone for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration .
During a media briefing, Mohadi expressed his happiness with the new seating, calling it a sign of positive things to come. However, many Zimbabweans were unimpressed by the focus on such a small-scale improvement amidst broader national challenges.
Mohadi also reflected on 2024 as a year of progress, highlighting milestones such as the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, infrastructure advancements, and agricultural and health initiatives. Despite his optimism, some onlookers felt that Mohadi’s comments were disconnected from the country’s more pressing issues.
Social media users expressed frustration, with one commenter saying, “Time to go and rest, old man. Why put yourself under pressure, mudhara?” The response to Mohadi’s statements suggests a growing impatience with the leadership’s narrative, as many Zimbabweans seek more tangible solutions to their daily struggles.
