Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General Senator Sengezo Tshabangu has publicly supported President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial push to extend his presidency beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms.
Tshabangu was part of a group of parliamentarians who visited Mnangagwa’s Precabe Farm on Sunday. In a post shared on the Zanu PF’s Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, Tshabangu voiced his endorsement of the president’s desire to remain in office.
“If the people themselves recognize and affirm the value of your leadership prowess, Your Excellency, remaining in your role as the country’s President for the greater good of our nation, then so be it,” Tshabangu said.
Mnangagwa is reportedly determined to stay in power beyond 2028, despite the Constitution limiting presidents to two terms.
His move has sparked controversy, with critics arguing that it is a violation of the country’s fundamental laws.
