By Munacho Gwamanda- The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has announced the release of the 2024 November Ordinary Level examination results.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Zimsec board chairperson Professor Paul Mapfumo confirmed that the results would be accessible online from 4 PM today.

The portal will remain open for five days, providing candidates and authorized personnel access to their results through the Zimsec website, www.zimsec.co.zw.

“The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council board and management would like to advise the nation of the release of the 2024 November Ordinary Level examination results,” said Professor Mapfumo.

“With effect from today, 17 January 2025, 4 PM, Ordinary Level examination candidates’ results will be accessible online through the Zimsec portal. Please take note that this portal will be open for five days only. Heads of examination centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools or centres from our regional offices on Monday, 20 January 2025,” he added.

This year’s results come against the backdrop of significant changes in Zimbabwe’s education system.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education recently reviewed the national curriculum, eliminating the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALAs) that had been part of the system since 2021.

The controversial CALAs, introduced to incorporate practical and project-based assessments, were criticized for adding undue pressure on both students and teachers.

By reverting to a more traditional examination-focused assessment model, the government aims to streamline the education process and address concerns raised by stakeholders in the education sector.
