The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has officially deployed fighter jets to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) following the tragic deaths of 13 South African soldiers, according to Limpopo Newspaper.
The soldiers were killed in an attack by M23 rebels, an armed group operating in the eastern part of the DRC.
The SANDF has made it clear that it will not tolerate the loss of its personnel and is taking decisive action in response to the attack.
The deployment of fighter jets underscores the seriousness with which South Africa views the deaths of its troops and sends a strong message of retaliation against those responsible for the killings.
The M23 rebel group has been involved in ongoing conflicts in the DRC, and tensions have escalated in recent months, particularly in the North Kivu region. The South African government and military leaders have vowed to continue their support for peacekeeping operations in the region, despite the recent loss of life.
