By A Correspondent| Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability following concerns over an address mix-up that has sparked media attention.
The mayor, known for his open-door policy and dedication to public service, clarified that the incident was a genuine mistake and not an attempt to mislead authorities or the public.
Speaking on the issue, Mayor Mafume stated, “As a public servant, I have always upheld the principles of accountability and openness. The mix-up regarding my address was an honest mistake, and I fully acknowledge the need for accuracy in such matters.”
He further emphasized that he remains open to any inquiries regarding his residency, finances, or any other aspect of his leadership, reaffirming that he has nothing to hide.
The mayor also reassured the public that he welcomes scrutiny, as it is an essential aspect of good governance.
“I have no issue with any official verification processes. My record remains clear, and I will continue to serve Harare residents with integrity,” he said.
His statement comes amid speculation following a report alleging that he provided a false address.
However, those close to the matter confirm that it was an administrative error rather than any deliberate misrepresentation.
