Tragedy struck on the Harare-Mutare Road in Marondera on February 8, 2025, when a devastating head-on collision claimed the lives of three people and left five others injured.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the fatal accident occurred at around 2100 hours at the 118-kilometer peg. A Toyota Aqua vehicle, carrying three passengers, collided with a Toyota Hilux vehicle, which had four passengers on board.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the deaths of three people. The bodies of the victims were transported to the Marondera Provincial Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted.
Five others, who sustained injuries in the accident, were admitted to the same hospital for treatment. The ZRP has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution and vigilance while on the roads. The ZRP has urged motorists to adhere to traffic laws and regulations to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
