The President of Zimbabwe
His Excellency, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa
Harare
10 February 2025
Dear Sir,
*RE: Smooth Transition of Power*
With all due respect, Cde President, the 2030 term extension agenda has caused a public outcry. This agenda was introduced at a time when the economic situation has worsened, casting an unfavorable light on your leadership. The majority of Zimbabweans have lost confidence in your office and presidency. Under your watch, there is rampant corruption, a deteriorating healthcare system, poor remuneration of civil servants, and widespread suffering among Zimbabweans. It appears that no concrete solutions have been provided to address the economic hardships currently afflicting the people.
We voted you into power with the hope that things would improve under your administration. While we acknowledge the efforts you have made to uplift Zimbabwe in various ways, critical bread-and-butter issues remain unresolved. We had hoped you would stabilize the economic and political landscape, but a few individuals close to you seem to be pushing an agenda that destabilizes the economy for their own self-enrichment.
After careful consideration, I strongly advise you, Cde President, to consider a smooth transition of power within a reasonable timeframe. Doing so would allow you to clear your desk and demonstrate to the nation that you are a true revolutionary cadre who prioritizes the interests of the revolutionary party and the people. It has become an open secret, Mr. President, that the majority no longer support your continued stay in power.
Yours
