Wabathu Economic Empowerment Revolutionaries (WEERS), a group aligned with former Zanu PF official Savior Kasukuwere, has publicly thrown its support behind war veteran Blessed Geza and Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga’s efforts to combat corruption.

WEERS, led by Xavier Kazizi, the former ZANU-PF National Youth Secretary for Administration, issued a strong statement on their stance.

The statement began with a clear message: “Comrades, we come to you to make it unequivocally clear to you all that our sole purpose is to entrench Constitutionalism in Zimbabwe.” The group then emphasized their opposition to the extension of term limits, stating, “We are calling upon each member to vigilantly reject term limit extension.” The statement also condemned the government’s plans to postpone the 2028 elections, declaring that such actions must be “sharply rejected.”

The group reiterated its support for Vice President Chiwenga, highlighting his stance against corruption and mismanagement. “As WEERS, we wish to appeal to all our members to remain steadfast and rally behind Vice President, Rtd General D.C.G.N. Chiwenga, who is also denouncing corruption and all sorts of mismanagement of state resources by the regime.”

The statement concluded with a call to action: “Let us unite and defend our Constitution and National Resources.”

The appeal from WEERS reflects ongoing infighting within Zanu PF, with factions rallying around different leaders and positions, including those of Kasukuwere and Chiwenga, as tensions within the party continue to rise.
