In a hard hitting response likely to result in an open public spat with the Zimbabwe Olympics Committee, Chiyangwa shrugged of any possible responsibility for the drama that the Mighty Warriors encountered upon arriving in Zimbabwe.

A sad narrative had claimed that the women’s team which made history by being the first team  to make it to the Olympic Games came back to find no transport or even proper feeding arrangements had been made for them. The Mighty Warriors were not only in the end fed by well wishers, but were also given a paltry $5 to take them home. “After eating the National Ladies soccer team were then given $5 each this time and told zvakaoma tozoona pamberi apo (it is tough the rest shall be taken care of later). Ka bus kechikoro kavatora airport kanga kabaya, (the school bus that picked them at the airport had vanished,” writes an online football magazine.

Public opinion quickly swelled against the football umbrella body, ZIFA, which the visibly annoyed Chiyangwa responds to in a video obtained by ZimEye.
Chiyangwa described the rumours as “false, mischiveous, very malicious, it’s defamatory, and obviously you can see that they were unwanted guests who appeared at the airport, they were unwanted guests, the Zimbabwe Olympic is responsible for these players until they get back home, it has nothing to do with ZIFA.”
In a straight talk recorded video, the businessman warned that the question of his benevolence should not be abused.”There was no ZIFA person involved today, it was ZOC, so what ever you are hearing it has nothing to do with ZIFA, me or my administration. We have money which will be distributed next week together with their stands,
“Zifa has nothing to do with what is being peddled around by mischiveous and malicious people,” he said.
