Terrence Mawawa Masvingo | Two rival factions in the crisis torn ruling Zanu PF party are engaged in another bloody turf war in the Mwenezi bi-election.

Following the nullification of the provincial election results last month-in which the G-40 had been soundly beaten, there has been heightened tension between the two camps.

Last Saturday the two camps held separate strategic planning meetings ahead of the Mwenezi East by-election scheduled for April 8.

Team Lacoste members converged at Masvingo Polytechnic where Masvingo State Minister, Shuvai Ben Mahofa, Gutu Central Constituency MP, Lovemore Matuke, Psychomotor Minister, Josaya Dunira Hungwe, Provincial Secretary for Administration, Ailes Baloyi and Mwenezi East Constituency candidate, Joosbi Omar were in attendance.

During the meeting Mahofa tore into the G-40 faction accusing the so called young turks of sabotaging the Mwenezi East campaign programme.

“Don’t take party members for granted. We know that there are some ambitious party members who think they know everything. If you want to leave the party please go peacefully, otherwise we will expel you,” fumed Mahofa.

Across town the G-40 meeting was chaired by Amasa Nhenjana. Provincial Commissar, Jeppy Jaboon, Provincial Youth Chairperson, Nobert Ndaarombe and Women’s League member, Veronica Makonese also attended the meeting held at Flamboyant Hotel.

The G-40 members took turns to savage Mahofa and Hungwe.
