Terrence Mawawa| Chiredzi Youths aligned to First Lady Grace Mugabe, have threatened to beat up Masvingo State Minister, Shuvai Ben Mahofa.
In total defiance of her boss, President Robert Mugabe, Mahofa who is in the vortex of the raging factional storm, has ordered new farmers to remain in the Tongaat Hulett plots they invaded last month. Mugabe himself a few weeks ago made clear he was not happy with the way sugar plantations owned by white commercial farmers were being grabbed and distributed.
Youths loyal to Mrs Mugabe’s G-40 have warned the new farmers would be removed from the plots by force.
The youths met at Rufaro Hall in Chiredzi, where they denounced Mahofa and her Team Lacoste members.
Zanu PF Provincial Youth chairperson Nobert Ndaarombe, said Mahofa and her Team Lacoste members were deliberately attempting to disregard Mugabe’s directive.
“Be warned that the youths are the vanguard of the party. We will not allow those rebelling against the President to continue doing so. The new farmers who continue to occupy Tongaat land will be removed by force. What we are saying as youths is very clear -President Mugabe said people should move out of Tongaat land but we have learnt with utter amazement that some ministers are defying the President’s directive.”
“We will soon go and evict the new farmers by force. We will beat them up if they refuse to heed the President’s call,” said Ndaarombe.
In a rare show of courage Mahofa has insisted the farmers will remain on the plots, triggering a showdown with her boss Mugabe.
