By Paul Nyathi |ZAPU President Dumiso Dabengwa says that he declined the offer extended to him by President Emerson Mnangagwa to be one of the Vice Presidents in his new government.
Addressing about 300 people who took part in a Gukurahundi march at Stanley Hall in Makokoba Township Bulawayo on Friday, Dabengwa said he declined the offer because he made a personal vow never to work with ZANU PF ever again.
The veteran politician and freedom fighter said that he declined the offer despite pressure from even some people within his party and the Matabeleland region whi were pushing him to take the position.
“I refused to take the offer on a matter of principle as I made a personal vow never to work in a ZANU PF government whatever it took,” he said.
“Some people were calling me at night, some coming to my home trying to convince me to take up the position but I declined.”
President Mnangagwa’s chief advisor Christopher Mutsvangwa has however always declared it as false that Mnangagwa approached any members of the opposition asking them to join his government claiming that instead opposition party members including Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC-T were pushing Mnangagwa to include them in his government.

I,on the other hand will repeat, cough, cockroaches are very long suffering and can even weather radioactive materials ,so too can rats ,but it doesnt mean that if a cockroach outlived all others it will go to the top of the food chain .As far as I have known,rays and cockroaches are still being stepped on ,for all their outliving other animals.

Ok ,let’s say you are right .How about the urban areas like Harare ,Midlands Gweru ,or mutare..were political tolerance is better ? ,What’s your excuse ,why is zapu not known in Harare ? ,Or chitungwiza? ,Not even a poster ,or even a graffiti on the wall as we see other parties do ?. DOC there is nothing to approve from something tribal based arguement that is clearly closed to reality. The fact that you talk about cockroches confirms that you are following Mnangagwa or possessed or by the same demon. As Gukurahundi was cutting open the wombs of Young women Mnangagwa said Gukurahundi carnibals were like the insectcide used to kill cockroches. It is that demon within you that rises when DD talks about his own principle. For your information there were very few above 50 in the anti gukurahundi march and the subsquent gathering addressed. He told them what they wanted to hear so tribalists will deny but those who care to listen will hear about Zapu and eventually carry on.

The fact that you talk about Zapu today simply that your barbarous killing of its supporters simply did not achieve the goal that you and your NATO bosses intended to achieve. Numbers are slowly growing now but ZAPU is here and will outlive all its current challenges that include very heavy infiltration, opportunism and obviously fear as a result of Gukurahundi massacres and Mnangagwa led kidnappings and murders.

I respect Dumiso Dabengwa so much for the role he played in the liberation struggle, because he is the only senior guerrilla commander that is left in Zimbabwe at the moment.I am talking about a guy who trained the likes of Solomon Mujuru and the late Vitalis Zvinavashe.Now, read what I am about, to write about him.Dumiso Dabengwa, has time and again failed to offer national leadership to the people of Matabeleland.He is still bitter over his unjustified incanceration soon after independence.I watched all what he was saying in the video concerning Munangagwa.As an elderly person speaking among all those young people who were baying for Munangagwa’s blood, Dumiso should have been a moderating voice of reason and asserted his authority as a national leader.His refusal to join Munangagwa will not help the people of Matabeleland.However in that gathering he was just aloof and never tried to correct the rhetoric of the young people concerning Gukurahundi.I was very dissapointed with his performance.Can you imagine if this guy was the leader of Zapu during Gukurahundi, what would have happened? Joshua Nkomo was a true national leader, despite his ill treatment by Mugabe, he never stooped too low to cause the death of his own people.Even when he had fled to London, when he was interviewed, he never said Gukurahundi was a tribal war between Shona and Ndebele.What a man! He could have easily chosen even not to sign the unity accord and demanded that Matabeleland be a separate state from Zimbabwe, but the old man never did all that.He truly believed that both Shona and Ndebele were brothers and sisters who should co-exist together no matter what differences.Now, that is what I call national leadership.

The WISE Nkomo saw fit to ‘move on’ for the sake of a unified Zimbabwe, work with and form ZANU-PF.
However, this disrespectful and silly subordinate p!sses on the legacy and good guidance of Nkomo.
It is the same stubborn and silly mentality of subordinates that caused some to go behind Nkomno’s back and become the divisive and destructive dissidents WHO INVITED Gukurahundi upon Zimbabwe.

The decades you worked with the regime you became one of them in every sense of the word. You were Minister of Home Affairs and you never lifted a finger to stop the Police harass, beat and even murder the opposition in the drive to keep Zanu PF in power. You too enjoyed the decades of absolute power and all the benefits it brought.
Like so many others who have left Zanu PF, you, Dr Dabengwa, have only become critical of the party when you left and could do nothing to stop the rot, which suggest you are a hypocrite!
