Dear Editor,

I read with astonishment and disbelief when the National co- ordinator of the newly branded Zimbabwe People’s party(Z.P.P), Max Mkandla called Dr Sam Siphepha Nkomo “too old to be vice president of Z.PP”

Does Mr Mkandla realise that Dr Joice Mujuru herself is turning 62 years next month? For a woman, that is old age.

But he finds it easy to attack Dr Siphepha Nkomo based on age.

No one has dared to challenge Dr Mujuru, but he found it easy to attack
the likes of Dr Siphepha Nkomo for vice presidency.

Moreover the age difference between Dr Mujuru and Siphepha Nkomo is about 15 years, not a huge generation gap. A generation is quantified as a difference of 30 years, so they are of the same generation.

So I do not find anything wrong with the candidancy of Dr Siphepha Nkomo because of age.

What do you say about Mr Trump(born 14/06/1946) who leads the oldest democracy at that age?

The rogue President of North Korea (born 08/01/1984) is one of the worst leaders in modern history, so age does not reflect good leadership?

And on the issue of failing as the GNU minister of Water Resources, Siphepha Nkomo did nothing wrong since the whole opposition failed Zimbabweans. So Dr Nkomo should not to be singled out.

Even the then Prime minister Mr Morgan Tsvangirai failed.

So let Dr Siphepha Nkomo participate in the intra party contest; after all that is democracy not agecracy. Who ever wins, bravo!
