Let’s Give Mnangagwa, Mphoko A Chance Please

It is worrisome that the recent swearing in of two Vice Presidents, Comrades Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, has been received negatively by some analysts and members of the public claiming that the two are hardliners and radical elements in ZANU-PF and the government.

I am quite sure that the two comrades having been leaders before, so their elevation to become the two deputies to the President will actually add value and boost their working experience, thus shaping them into good leaders.

In recent weeks some sections of the media were awash with articles humiliating the two Vice Presidents stating that nothing good is expected to come from them. This is however, untrue because the background of these two Vice Presidents tells it all that there are hard workers.

It is imperative to note that these two comrades, just like other leaders, have important tracks of their accomplishments that can be easily followed. Unfortunately, the media and a number of analysts focus their attention on mistakes rather than what people have done well. However, President Mugabe recognized the meaningful contributions that these comrades have been putting on the economic development table and believed that they should be elevated so that they contribute more to nation building.

A constructive example is that of the then Defence Minister Mnangagwa, who through his hard work and initiatives built a state of the art Defence College in Harare.

Like our two Vice Presidents, good leaders are responsible for everything that happens in an organization or a country, and they are rightly held accountable for everything that happens either good or bad.

Good leaders know quite well that they are not simply in charge of making plans and reaching targets, but they are rather responsible for making sure that their country is doing what it is meant to do, and ensuring that the standards of living of the people are improved.

President Mugabe’s swearing in of his deputies portrays that he has great trust in these two leaders and that he is quite sure that their appointments to the presidium make tangible and productive things happen. It is a leader who has a vision, takes initiatives, influences people, makes proposals, organizes logistics, solves problems, and most of all takes responsibility that we need.
The complex problems that exist in our country will require people who are able to lend an active hand and work together in solving them. The new Vice Presidents and the newly appointed ministers need to be supported for them to deliver.
Lately, Zapu leader, Dumiso Dabengwa has described Vice President Mphoko as a sellout (a case of sour grapes?). Such statements are unworthy to be coined on state leaders as they damage their reputation and image. Therefore, those who are found guilty of waffling such disturbing statements should be brought before a hearing as they will be undermining the authority of the President who appointed them. It is important for public to give due respect to their leaders.
As new leaders in the office, I believe they should be given their chance to perform and dish out what they have that contributes to the development of the country.

  1. The coffee
is piping hot. Very hot but can we wake up and smell it? Some of us, nope! Talk
of something which is piped, water. In its simplest form, the technology
required is a water pump and a few chemicals and hey presto fresh water pours
down your tap. Drive round the country and you discover all the river dams are
over flowing yet the major cities are dry and starved of water for weeks and
months. What’s wrong with us? Since independence there has only one vice
president who left office alive, Joice Mujuru. Sacked and humiliated. The other
four, Nkomo, Banana, Msika and Nkomo all died in office. Sadly, all four spent
the last 2 years of their lives in a vegetative state and on a payroll. And
someone has the temerity to point a finger and say we are ‘negative’ and that
is why we never make ‘progress’. Wake up and smell the coffee because the whole
Zanu system and project stinks to high heaven. To make ‘progress’ Zimbabwe
needs a new broom even if it means you, the reader, as leader. Yes you can do
better! They have failed miserably including the two members of the cartel.
Were they in a coma when things were falling apart? Harare hospital,
Mpilo hospital, to name a few, are now unrecognisable yet whenever our leaders
have an itch on the backside they fly to South Africa or South East Asia for
treatment. Here is a teaser, Mugabe himself won’t die in a Zimbabwe hospital or
any of his presidential palaces, unless he is hit by lightning. Even then they
will still fly the corpse abroad just to make sure and take the pulse. The two
nominated stooges have been passengers in a coach for 34 years and have been
fast asleep. And the writer and supporters insist we ‘should give them a
chance’. Give us a break, and I don’t mean literally because in our country
that can easily be arranged. There are dark forces out there!

  2. You can say that again, let us give Cde Mnangagwa and Mphoko a chance, people who are heaping negative comments about the Vps are the ones who don’t want to see Zimbabwe progressing, it us people who make these leaders, if you put one in a tight corner before he discharges his duties what do you expect him to do. Itai basa Ngwena muri mwii

  3. i have given emmerson 34 years of my life already, what other chance does he need? i dont live for 200 years!

  4. Yes all the chances they want if they raise their hands in the
air and declare they will tell the nation, a) a land audit will be
carried out yesterday, not tomorrow! We want to know who owns how many farms
and mines. b) release all documents relating to all the disputed
elections and with them the voters’ rolls. c) announce and
the arrest of all known perpetrators of violence during the elections
gone by. d) sons and daughters of Zimbabwe were sent to fight a war but
the nation was never told how many perished and where they lie. Their remains
were repatriated in the dead of the night. e) an inquiry please on
Gukurahundi. f) Zimbabwe in its hour of need relied on
remittances from the diaspora, give them the vote please. g)
Lastly, an apology to Zimbabweans for the misery you so and so’s
have inflicted on them for the past 34 years. That will do for starters.
I think the writer has forgotten to take his/ her tablets. 3 times a day with
food please! It says so on the bottle. Give them a chance!
Fat chance! We might just give only the tablets a chance.

  5. People of Zimbabwe be reminded that this Emmerson Mnangagwa together with his partner in crime Matibili are the ones who caused the deterioration of Zim economy by spending millions of dollars in DRC war protecting their diamond mines. We lost a lot of soldiers in DRC. When Matibili masterminded the gukurahundi genocide in matabeland and Midlands where more than 20 000 people were killed, the same mnangagwa was the director of operations. When Matibili lost to Morgan in 2008 elections, The same ngwena was the brains behind the genocide code named operation mavhotera papi where more than 500 opposition supporters were murdered, thousands injured and left homeless. Ngwena masterminded the assassination of Zimbabwe s most decorated liberation struggle icon Solomon Rex Nhongo Mujuru. The same ngwana and Bill Rauschenberg are the most beneficiaries of monopolized petrol blending in Zimbabwe. Emmerson Mnangagwa has blood on his hands.

  6. If you are Zimbabwean, please say something good about your country. once the country is seen by outsiders as good, the quality of life of our people will improve. Zimbos abroad will invest in the country, more FDIs, more tourists, more jobs etc. The result will also benefit your relatives and friends back home.

  7. Guys, humans judge the past, but the Lord God Almighty considers the future. God uses whoever he wants. I congratulate the Vice President Mnangagwa for the appointment, and I pray that God Almighty gives him wisdom to excel in the new job.

  8. Mangangwa is a chief thief, murderer, corrupt ridden egocentric maniac, abuser of women
Who would give a chance to such a person. He does not mean what he says???
