Incarcerated Johanne Masowe eChishanu apostolic sect leader Madzibaba Ishmael Chokurongerwa who yesterday appeared in court facing public violence charges, did not attack any cops and was not even in Zimbabwe, MDC-T party Secretary General and practising lawyer Douglas Mwonzora, has said.
These facts came as Chokurongerwa (44), who had been on the run for the past seven months, appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Milton Serima.
Mr Serima remanded Chokurongerwa in custody and will make his ruling today(Tuesday).
Prosecutor Mr Sebastian Mutizirwa urged the court to deny Chokurongerwa bail citing that he is a flight risk.
The State claims that Madzibaba allegedly led his followers in attacking policemen and journalsists at his sect’s shrine in Harare’s Budiriro suburb in May last year.
But the MDC-T Secretary General who is a trained lawyer, Douglas Mwonzora has defended Ishmael saying the latter was not even in Zimbabwe at the time of the attack.
“What we are certainly sure of is that he was not there when the alleged offence took place. We hope that the law will take its own course and we hope his safety will be guaranteed,” said Mwonzora.
The verdict is due by end of day Tuesday.

People there is something I need to tell you which many of you don’t understand and will never understand. When you are walking, every person you meet is your real brother, mother and sister. When you are in a Combi every person in there is your real brother, sister and mother. When you are in a shop, every person you see there is your real brother, sister and mother. So when people are fighting wether in a pub, football stadium in town or anywhere know that you are fighting your real brother. When you fight to kill someone know that you are killing your own real brother, sister or mother. All these people in prison they are your real brothers, sisters and mothers. All beggers, vendors, the lame, blind people and all poor people in general they are your real brothers, sisters and mothers. If you don’t help them you shall all be very ashamed at The Coming Of The great God Our Father Jesus Christ because then you shall all realise that you were doing evil to your own real brother, sister and mother. Some people many are in prisons not because they deserve to be in prison but because of the devil, that little twat called satan. Brothers like Gumbura and this brother Ishmael Mufani they don’t deserve to be in prison at all and you shall all know this at The Coming Of The Great God The Lord Our Father Jesus Christ. We Christians, Catholics and Holy Apostles we don’t belong to and organisation like evil Ndanga’s or neither are we affiliated to any such organisations.
