The era of “entitlement leadership” is closing in on the world and Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa (Robert Mugabe’s henchman) who has been in government for nearly 40 years to date, has been outpaced by Cuba’s President Raul Castro who is stepping down in April 2018.

AnalysisCastro has been in national leadership for less than 10 years since the days when he began assuming acting roles in his late brother Fidel’s behalf.

Analysts project that at the rate of the current cultic praise-singing in which he is portrayed by singer Jah Prayzah as the King Croc (Garwe) who freely changes laws, and who could not die from deadly poison, Mnangagwa could remain President till he is 96 years old.

According to a vote in the island state’s national assembly yesterday, lawmakers pushed back the date of general elections, which were initially to be held at the end of February.

The delay was necessary due to disruption caused by Hurricane Irma, which ravaged much of Cuba in September.

It means that the 86 year old Castro will stay on a couple of months later than planned.

The modification to Cuba’s election calendar means general elections choosing the national assembly’s 600 members will be moved to a date yet to be decided.

Cuba’s president is not directly elected by the people, but by the council of state which is chosen by the national assembly.

The lawmakers’ election of the council of state posts, including that of its president, who will also be the president of Cuba, replacing Raul Castro, was set for April 19.

The national assembly session deciding these changes was closed to international media.

  1. Zimeye please! we follow you for balanced & properly reviewed articles but sometimes one gets the impression that there is a rush to get an unsubstantiated story out there just to get a headline. the above is one such example. Please take hid & stop biased reporting because sooner or later people will see through this. Most of your stories check out but a few do at times leave a lot be desired.

  2. Cuba is noted for its free and fair elections involving one party. A true democracy that we should imitate as we head towards the workers paradise.

  3. Yes we also want reforms to do with conducting free and fair elections under the observation of the international community so that our President ED Mnangagwa can clear the perception that he came through the assistance of other forces. If he does that we will vote for him so that the doubting Thomas is ashamed. Then after that he can implement the policies without anyone doubting him.

  4. Zimeye is out of touch with present popular sentiment. People want to see Munangagwa implement the policies he is talking about. We want our money back.We want those who stole locked up. Mdc can only cry human rights when these are locked up but is unable to trace any of the stolen money. The task ahead requires Gwena. He has the guts to go after corruption and stop it. Mdct.cannot
