By Terrence Mawawa | In a shocking and gruesome murder incident, a mentally challenged man axed a two- year- old child, roasted and ate the baby’s flesh.

The incident has left the Buhera Community in a state of shock.

Onwell Ndega Mutemera of Mutemera Village under Chief Nyashanu in Buhera axed the girl to death and ate her arm.

Mutemera appeared before Buhera Resident Magistrate, Dennis Mangosi facing murder charges last week.

The court heard that Mutemera advanced towards the girl, Monica Sengerai who was playing with her sister Febie Sengerai.

He then struck the girl with an axe on the chin, took her right arm, roasted it and ate it. He allegedly committed the crime on December 5.

Mutemera was arrested on the same day he committed the crime.

“The deceased’ s sister managed to identify Mutemera who was wearing a blood stained shirt after committing the crime,” the court heard.

The matter was postponed to Friday December 15 pending the examination of Mutemera’ s mental health.
