By Simbarashe Chikanza|I am really poor and am waiting for a bank loan application, Wicknell Chivayo has revealed.
Years after flaunting that he earns over $200,000 per month, controversial ZANU PF young “tycoon,” and humiliated ZIFA sponsor, Wicknell Chivayo has revealed he has no money at all and is actually currently waiting for a bank loan.
Chivayo told ZimEye.com in an exclusive interview last night that after dashing the hopes of the Zim national team, flying them in a jet made of straw, he really is penniless and cannot at all lift the $200million power tender awarded him last year in October.
After pleading with Zimbabweans saying he needs more time to prepare, he revealed he is waiting for a bank loan application also showing that at present he has not even applied for that money. He went on to suggest that the taxpayer through the government’s Zimbabwe Power Company, must pay him for the same project he last year claimed he can carry out to electrify all of Gwanda and Mat South.
The full interview below begins with questions over his admiration and closeness to Presidential aspirant Emmerson Mnangagwa.

  3. Coming to do what you are also exposing your ignorance. He said he is now at a critical stage called ‘The Financial closure’ The reporter could help the nation by explaining whats involved at that stage. The fact that even Strive Masiyiwa is a millionaire does not exclude a company like Econet from Financing its Capital projects through Debt. Its Financial Management stupid.

  5. Shame mr reporter kkkkk this is what we call (PHD) pull him down syndrome …we always wish others bad things.. I think everyone is free to participate in tenders for starters and then a massive 100MW project can not be completed in 2days…

  9. Wicknell is just one player who “won” this tender. Should ZPC wish to expand the solar power project, then other players can submit their tender documents. The presenter Chikanza is a moron who did not do any research before this interview. Too emotional.

  10. Simba Chikanza exposed himself as a moron. He should have done his homework before this interview. Wicknell is right. His project has nothing to do with roof top solar panels but a farm with hundreds of solar panels producing power which is fed into the national grid. He is too emotional.
I wish they could remove the background music which is very irritating to say the least.

  11. I totally agree he is very annoying why not narrate it like any other reporter as we see pabbc aljezeera.

  12. No I am not lost. It is very clear and my point remains that whoever approved the tender are the ones to determine whether its time to call in competitors not him. What objective answer did the interviewer expect to get. Suppose he says no forever is the nation supposed to go along?

  13. The recorded updates are slightly in a interfering tone. You end up listening to the tone than news

  14. I feel that new readers should read news in a stable voice tone and leave the emotional reaction to the readers. We want to listen to news not to be the voice.

  15. Max you are wrong listen again the reporter asked Wicknell if he is prepared to accept other INDUSTRY PLAYERS (competitors), not partners. Iwewe urikurasika papiko pane zvinhu zviri pachena izvi???

  21. Let me start by categorically stating that I am no fan of this so called sir Wicknell. In fact I find him too loud for my liking. Having said that I should then state that your interview was pathetic. You did not research the subject and in an effort to put the guy in a sport you exposed yourself as hopelessly ignorant of the subject. Yet you could have googled and found out what you needed to find out. You kept asking him if he could accept other people coming into the project, he is not the one who gave himself the tender, he won it and you expected him to say what? In short you were disappointing and your efforts to embarrass him were pathetic. In the end the egg was on your face and not his..
