Poorly Fed Mugabe Officers Collapse During Independence Speech Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| There was commotion here on Independence day when a cop and a soldier fainted during Masvingo State Minister Shuvai Ben Mahofa’s speech delivery at Mucheke Stadium.
Despite frantic efforts by both the army and the police to conceal the matter, members of the public were all but stunned by the incident.
ZimEye.com was informed of how members the uniformed force spent hours standing while they had not eaten anything resulting in the embarrassing incident.
The scenery happened around 2pm when the two officers suddenly collapsed one after the other as Mahofa proceeded with her marathon speech.
It has been reported the food supplies at army barracks and police camps have been drastically reduced while the duties for both forces are expected to carry out remain the unchanged.
Although Masvingo Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa was not readily available to comment on the matter, residents of Mucheke suburb who went to the stadium said they witnessed the incident before their eyes.
“We were surprised by what happened. For the first time in my life, I saw two officers falling down. It is unheard of, yet very embarrassing, “said a resident of the R section of Mucheke suburb.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the army did not materialise as a junior officer quickly warned: “You will be in trouble with such issues my friend. Such things are highly sensitive.”
