Oluhle Sibanda | Human Rights activist and ROHR founder, Sten Zvorwadza has flown to the UK where he was at the weekend blocked from addressing a meeting by Zim Vigil boss, Rose Benton.
Speaking a few days after landing in London, Zvorwadza implored Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to refuse to be divided on partisan lines.
He went on to talk about how even political parties are now joining hands for a common purpose. Zvorwadza further said, “wherever you are Zimbabweans you should not allow to, or be divided along partisan lines. We have come a long way. 36 years of being divided and ruled has led the country to it’s knees. We should stand up and shine.”
The 2007 founder of Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) Zimbabwe, also founder of Tajamuka and Chairman of the National Vendors Association of Zimbabwe, visited the Super Vigil pavilion on Saturday to share information and highlighting the situation back home. Earlier on, he had addressed a Zimbabwe People First meeting in Leicester.
Speaking on what happened in London David Kadzutu confirmed that Zvorwadza offered to share information with any Zimbabwean, however when Benton of Zim vigil heard about the offer, she blocked everything.
“Rose passed a unilateral decision. I persisted and told her that the information to be shared is for the Zimbabweans and some of them might benefit from it. If you have passed a decision that these Zimbabweans do not have a right to listen to their fellow brother, fine.” explained Kadzutu.
It is reported that only one person from Birmingham, Comforter Zibwowa, out of bravery went and joined the audience being addressed by Zvorwadza.
Zvorwadza narrated how people in Zimbabwe have found solace in working in unison as opposed to being divided. He reiterated how Pastor Evan Mawarire’s #TheFlag campaign had brought so much solidarity before and during his trial. He also spoke of how he formed Tajamuka group and the vendors association.
He clearly stated that the foot soldiers back home do not need diaspora money, but they can do with moral and spiritual support.
He concluded by inviting everyone to join fellow Zimbabweans on Friday the 5th of August from 11.00 am to 13.00 hours, at the Singapore Embassy to alert and submit a petition highlighting the plight of Zimbabweans while Mugabe and his family set up businesses in Singapore using Zimbabwean financial resources. He will be part of the protesters.

  1. Yes you are right. But before the publication does anything. Let the Shonas condemn
    1. The ZANU PF Shona Gukurahundi 1979 Grand Plan; and call for investigations of its sources the prosecution of its authors;
    2. Stop spreading the Gukurahundi language in Mthwakazi by deploying Shona teachers to convert our little innocent Mthwakazi children to Shona;
    3. Get rid of Shona mwanawekumusha nepotistic appointments and deployment in our region and ensure our local people are considered first for jobs before considering Shona outsiders;
    4. Radio Stations Broadcasting in the Mthwakazi Provinces must Broadcast in Mthwakazi languages. Shona is for Shona provinces;
    5. Leaders and politicians who address meetings and rallies in Mthwakazi must desist from speaking to our people in siGukurahundi;
    6. All national addresses should be English – no Gukurahundi!!

  2. If the comments by this idiotic “shona hater” are allowed to continue by this publication it may be construed that they condone such irresponsible hate speech that has its roots in tribalism. The progressive community that finds one onother on this platform must condemn in unison this madness by both this publication as well as the drivel by “shona hater.” At some point a line has to be drawn

  10. Good staff guys. I love reading this and well done my young brother David Kadzutu. You are making me proud. Sadly though it must dawn to all of us that the struggle for democracy and freedom is not a prerogative of any group or individual. Advance to the Singapore Embassy everyone.
