Marry Mubaiwa, the estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, will spend another weekend in custody after the High Court deferred her application for bail and appeal hearings to Tuesday next week.
Marry is in remand prison on charges of attempted murder, fraud, and currency externalisation. She is facing charges of attempting to murder VP Chiwenga, illegally externalising US$1033 000, laundering US$990 000 and fraudulently seeking to upgrade her customary union to a civil marriage without her husband’s consent.
She is facing six counts of exporting foreign currency in breach of the Exchange Control Act and five counts of concealing transactions involving proceeds of crime in violation of the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act.
