By A Correspondent | In what is understood to be renewed efforts to seize the late president Robert Mugabe’s remains, former First Lady Grace Mugabe has been sued over her husband’s corpse.
The development could see the ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa getting access to the remains over 1 year, 8 months after his burial, something the late president’s core family members have continued to disapprove because the deceased gave instructions saying his body parts will be used for rituals if handed to the coup-criminal.
In September 2019, Mugabe family spokesperson, Leo, told ZimEye the clan resolved to never give Mnangagwa or anyone else his uncle’s body. He said Mugabe would be given a secret burial since he was a chief, according to him.
Analysts suggest that the remains are needed for ritual purposes to obtain powers to govern the country.
The case, the first if its kind, is being heard in a traditional court on the 20th May.
