By Tinoonga Mawere-Masvingo|President Robert Mugabe and Vice Emmerson Mnangagwa have struck a power exchange covenant that will see the nonegenarian hand over power to his second in command, intelligence sources say in the latest development on the current burning matter.
Intelligence sources at Benjamin Burombo Building here yesterday said Mugabe would hand over power to Mnangagwa soon after the 2018 polls.
The latest revelations are likely to further complicate the Zanu PF succession matrix with Grace Mugabe positioning herself to take over from her husband.
The revelations come at a time Mugabe was determined to axe all Mnangagwa allies
However the intelligence sources claimed the contrary.
“President Mugabe will hand over power to Mnangagwa because he is the only man who has the guts to stand up and challenge the western countries. He is a hardliner so he is the right person to replace the president. More importantly Mnangagwa has vowed to protect the Gushungo empire so that is the real thing. Whatever is happening is just political mud -slinging .The two have been together for a long time so the president trusts Mnangagwa. Of course there might be other issues but the president will not hand over power to anyone else besides Mnangagwa ,” claimed the sources.
The Zanu PF power game has left the entire nation guessing -with indications Mugabe himself has ordered the total annihilation of the Mnangagwa camp. Political analysts here interpreted the development saying Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo has remained untouchable because he is the architect of that secret power pact.

  1. All those around Mugabe will not arrest him because they have benefited from his tyranny, at least so far!

  2. They will win of course and everybody knows how they win their elections. People of Zimbabwe will just keep quiet and follow the course…..unless someone somewhere is brave enough which is highly unlikely.

  4. I do not know about corruption. What baffles me is the powerlessness of everybody. Why cant they empeach MUgabe? Or throw him out of zanuPF?He has raped both the Zanupf and Zimbabwe constitutions so much it is posibble to say he creates the constitution he operates from in his head as he goes along

  5. Whatever deals Zanu PF thugs make amongst themselves is their own affair what matters is what the people of Zimbabwe say in a free, fair and credible elections. The next elections will be free and fair, that is a fundamental and basic political reality!

  8. What makes them think they will win in 2018? I think they are now overestimating their potential to win an election after failing to fulfil a single policy. The economy will determine the outcome of the election. With the way things are going I doubt if all those guys will be alive come 2018. The people will revolt and all those guys will be killed. Moyo warned them , civil war is unavoidable and everything that sparks a civil war is already in place. We will not allow status quo to continue. What happened in 2013 is not going to happen again!!!!

  9. Totally agree with you GJ, he knows he can not win an election without ED if RGM is genuine why hand over power after election why not now. What did ED get in turn anything tangible ???If ED agreed to this then he is an idiot

  11. Matibili ,the murderous despot will never hand over power to anyone coz he is obsessed with the trappings of Power& he doesnt trust anybody. He would rather die in power. After all he has been violently& fraudulently clinging to Power since 1990 polls.Matibili operates like he is a Constitutional monarchy hence the reason he continues to treat Zim like his fiefdom.
