By Stanley Goreraza | I’m desperately trying to understand why Morgan Tsvangirai would encourage his supporters to join Zanupf. Is it not the same as urging people to join Boko Haram to avoid getting killed? What happens when they March off to kill, won’t they be expected to tag along and also kill?
Is the Mdc really that short on ideas and strategies because it sounds like something a Grade school pupil would suggest! Is that the best you can come up with as a party? Is it not sensible to craft strategies which turn Zanupf supporters into Mdc supporters and prevent Mdc supporters from turning into Zanupf supporters? When Mdc supporters join Zanupf, will they not at some point be forced to act and obliterate the few remaining Mdc numbers? And what if they develop a taste and love for Zanupf and what it does,what will become of the MDC?
Is the thinking of the MDC calculated and thought out or is it the opposite?
You are entrenching fear and perpetuating it to your own great disadvantage. Instead, you should teach rural people that it is not ok to do something you do not want to do. It is not OK to live in fear and it is Very OK to be openly Mdc. We don’t want a culture of lying and liars and joining what is bad for no good comes out of what is bad. You are also condoning the politicization of food distribution and encouraging those who practice it.

i agree with him somehow but whats on the ground is different from a theory….if yu are really in rural areas yu couldn’t say this……otherwise your house could be burnt dwn tomorrow as yu watch ,or die of starvation while food for yu z n the hands of them,or you could just be removed from the village by the sabhuku,
What is that to you? You are angry that Tsvangirai has just been exposed for the fool he is and so instead of dealing with the issues Stanley raised here which affect millions of Zimbabweans you concentrate on trivial personal issues.
And yet what he is saying here makes sense!

I agree with you 100%, asking MDC supporter to join Zanu PF is not going to help end Zanu PF sponsored political violence. This is typical Tsvangirai blundering from pillar to post!
We have institutionalised violence in Zimbabwe, the price of belonging to the wrong political party has been going up and up. To get a place in a public institution of higher learning; you must have a Zanu PF membership card. To get food aid and farming inputs; you must prove you are a Zanu PF supporter. During the elections, to be accused of being an opposition supporter is now a serious crime exposing you to harassment, beatings or even cost you your very life.
Elections in Zimbabwe have become a mockery of democratic elections; the real tragedy is we have done nothing to stop it. By taking part in these flawed processes we are given them a stamp of legitimacy and worse still perpetuating them. Why should Zanu PF stop using violence and rigging elections when these help the party secure its no-regime-change mantra and we are foolish enough to think the party will reform its ways because it is feeling sorry for us.
MDC or any of the other opposition parties cannot take Zanu PF thuggery head-on because the later can always call on State machinery to take up the fight on its behalf. The only way the opposition can end the culture of violence if by forcing the implementation of democratic reforms designed to end Zanu PF’s undemocratic controls of the Police, ZEC and other State Institutions.
MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the reform during the GNU but failed to get even one reform implemented because the party is incompetent and corrupt. The truth is MDC will never bring about any democratic change, this is a basic truth Zimbabweans have yet to learn.
