By Langton Ncube|Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri has been fired after more than 23 years in charge of the country’s police force.

Chihuri’s dismissal comes on the same day that the Zimbabwe Defence forces announced the end of Operation Restore Order and the return of the ZRP to normal duty.

The former Commissioner-General was heckled and booed by the crowd when he was swearing his loyalty and allegiance to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at his inauguration ceremony in November 2017

Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (CDF) General Constantino Chiwenga has retired from the military and he has been replaced as CDF by former Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Phillip Valerio Sibanda.

Edzai Absolom Chimonyo becomes the new Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army. Former Air Vice Marshal Elson Moyo has been named as the new Air Force Commander.

Major-Generals Sibusiso Moyo and Engelbert Rugeje have received promotion upon retirement and retire as Lieutenant-Generals.

  1. And allowed a once a formidable, professional force to become a laughing stock in the region – staffed by a motley group of hungry, dissatisfied, and ill-educated petty thieves in uniform.

  2. Sickly as he is what was he still doing?

More than 20 years occupying a big post..thats the problem with Zim ‘leaders’

  3. I find it incredible that people like Chihuri seemed to think the cheese would not move one day. The Police became so discredited with their behaviours at road blocks. I would suggest the new Police boss embarks on an aggressive re-branding exercise to rebuild image of the cops in the eyes of the public, particularly motorists. I would suggest they change to a completely new uniform: new colours, etc. The entire fish became rotten from the head down. Seeing his mansion pics on the internet, I wonder how long he is going to continue living such a “holywood lifestyle” in the sea of so much poverty.
