Mnangagwa Commences Dialogue With Teachers

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will meet with teachers representatives under the banner of
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) this Friday.
Mnangagwa is expected to hear teachers’ grievances ranging from poor salaries and demand to be paid is foreign currency. In a letter addressed to the PTUZ Secretary General, Raymond Majongwe, Permanent Secretary to the president Wilson Gwatiringa advised the union
that Mnangagwa had agreed to meet with the teachers. The letter reads:
Thank you for your letter of 5 December 2018 requesting Progressive Teacher’s Union of Zimbabwe to meet His Excellency, the President. Kindly be advised that His Excellency, the President has accepted to meet the Union at State House 21 December 2018 t 10: am.
Rural teachers under the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) are marching from Mutare to Harare. The teachers
are calling on government to immediately pay them in US dollars.state media
