Muchinguri Increases Soldiers Retirement Age To 70 Years

Own Correspondent|In a surprise move, the Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs Oppah Muchinguri has gazetted an extension of the retirement age of army reserves from 65 to 70 years.
According to the Gazette the changes will affect the Air Force under Statutory Instrument 17/ 2019 and Army Reserves under Statutory Instrument 18/2019 amending the Defence Act governing the respective reserves.
The effect of the gazette will allow the Minister, on the recommendation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to permit a reserve member who reaches retirement age (65 years) to continue serving until 70.
