By Own Correspondent| Independent legislator for Norton Temba Mliswa has revealed that Zanu Pf’s factional fights costed party leader Emmerson Mnangagwa over 500 000 votes which were won by opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa.
In a statement issued recently, where he was advising Zanu Pf following indications that the party was purging some of its cadres including Mliswa’s sister Mary, he claimed that he had told the party to introspect and establish why President Emmerson Mnangagwa got less votes than those of his legislators combined.
Mliswa exposed that some of the Zanu Pf cadres pledging allegiance to Mnangagwa were Generation 40 (G40) stalwarts.
Said Mliswa:
“I talk as the leader of Yard. I told them to be aware and be ready. ED got less votes than his MPs, where have you seen that happening anywhere on earth? Chamisa got votes, so many more than his own MPs over 500,000. 1,6million was for his own MPs. He got 2,1million votes. So what then happened? This is what you must sit down to review.
This thing of trying to fire or expel Mary (Mliswa). Even if you remove her from party structures, she will continue doing her work inside government, and assisting the party because her performance in government is assistive of the party. In the constituency she continues her work.
And now you sit down to decide that you want to expel Mary. What really has Mary done wrong? What is it you as a chairman that you could surely fail to sit down to ascertain what she has done wrong?
I do not fight wars for Mary; you are the ones who mess yourselves up. Even ED himself, you do not like him. Because everyone he has chosen you are fighting them. Nduna wants that position, you also and Mai Mhlanga even are also after it.
Mai Mupfumira. Mai Mupfumira is the one who started G40 with Sarah Mahoka when I was chairman. I used to talk with her at her house after being sent by Grace Mugabe, working for her. You were all little kids back then. All the evidence I have it but you forget it. ….”
