MDC Alliance Youth Assembly is shocked by the gross miscarriage of justice that has seen our Midlands youth leaders convicted on trumped up charges today in Kwekwe.

Those convicted are:

(1)Provincial youth chair Sekai Mchaina Marashe
(2) Cllr Melody Chingarande
(3) cllr Washington Moyo
(4) Lovemore Savanhu
(5) Tinashe Nyamushosho and
(6) Leonard Musemwa.

The 6 were convicted under a spurious charge that they participated in what the state terms “unlawful demonstration” in Mbizo sometime in March 2020.

Judgement for the six will be handed down tomorrow, 18-12-2020.

What is unmistakable is that our judiciary is no longer independent and takes orders directly from ZANU PF headquarters.

Fingerprints of State Security Minister, Owen Mudha Ncube’s hand in the conviction of our Midlands youth leaders are all the wall for everyone to see.

The move is meant to derail the MDC Alliance ahead of a by-election pitting Owen Ncube’s nephew who is also running for the vacant Kwekwe Central House of Assembly post.

Ironically a ZANU PF violent Kwekwe thug, Tapiwa Muto who disrupted the party’s DCC elections was controversially released from prison just days after his arrest only two weeks ago.

Let it be known that the unjustified conviction of our Midlands cdes is a declaration of war to the Assembly and all progressive youths.

We are not going to rest when our members are subjected to Micky mouse justice at the instruction of ZANU PF officials.

We demand freedom for our innocent cadres!
