Own Correspondent|Recruited MDC Alliance Vice President Welshman Ncube has dismissed as unscrupulous, news going around online papers that he has fallen out of favour with his party leader Nelson Chamisa.
Ncube who is the former President of a now defunct MDC splinter party was integrated into the Chamisa led MDC together with the entire leadership of his team after the 2018 elections. He was immediately appointment as the new party’s second Vice President with Morgan Komichi being the other Vice President.
Online news was on Tuesday morning awash with reports that Ncube had fallen out of favour with Chamisa allegedly because of dictatorial tendencies by the young MDC leader.
In his official Facebook page, Ncube dismissed the news claiming it to be 100% fake as no one from any media had spoken to him on the matter.
Ncube attributed the news to people who are desperate in seeing the new look MDC collapse.
“The story headlined Welshman & Chamisa in nasty fallout is 100% FAKE NEWS,” said Ncube.
“I never spoke to the author of the story. EVERYTHING attributed to me I never said. There is no fall out between me & Chamisa. The real question is: Why are the forces behind the FALSE story so DESPERATE?”

Chamisa, Welshman in nasty fallout
As the MDC infighting intensifies, the party’s leader, Nelson Chamisa, has had a major fallout with his Bulawayo ally, Welshman Ncube, amid accusations of dictatorship and side-lining of the region. Ncube, whom many viewed as the Matabelaland “kingpin” in the MDC Alliance, and was believed to have been roped in to secure the region’s vote for Chamisa, has of late, been boycotting National Council meetings to show his disgruntlement.
Ncube confirmed the fallout to Kukurigo saying “in life, sometimes you make decisions which you think are for the good of everyone and will help those you represent, only to find out later on that you were in bed with unfaithful people who are driven by selfish agendas. The Alliance was born with the understanding that all regions would be equally catered for and all partners respected, but the situation currently obtaining is it’s a one-man band. The Chamisa chete chete mantra and unilateral decisions he is making does not help us as Matabeleland Province and I see no reason to continue being part of the charade.”
He added that he had once attempted to raise his concerns with Chamisa, but was accused of being a sell out and threatened with violence.
Chamisa has previously been accused of dictatorial tendencies and tribalism by the party’s former Vice President, Thokozani Khupe, who now leads the MDC-T. At the time, Chamisa accused Khupe of being a bitter, unreasonable individual.
MDC heads to a potentially explosive Congress next year amid emerging cracks following its defeat in the July elections. Senior officials are already setting up their respective goal posts, with Secretary General Douglas Mwoznora and Vice President, Elias Mudzuri, expected to challenge Chamisa for the top post. They however face fierce resistance from a clique of Chamisa backers including Morgen Komichi and Amos Chibaya, who feel Chamisa should be left to rule the party “uninterrupted”. Komichi recently publicly clashed with Mwonzora at a party rally held in Mutoko . after a speech by Mwonzora in which he told supporters that every position was open for contest at the forthcoming congress, Komichi rose to declare that Chamisa should not be contested and anyone who expresses a wish to do so should be rejected.
