By A Correspondent| A concerned traveller has raised the flag over the rampant corruption at Beitbridge border post RSA side revealing that Zimbabweans are being forced to pay bribes in order to get 90 days at the South African side.
Below is the alert:
“Please be advised that there is rampant corruption at Beitbridge border RSA side.
In order for you to enter RSA you have to bribe officers to get days and these are the charges:
R200 – 30 days
R400 – 60 days
R600 – 90 days
I refused to pay and my daughter was given 14 days stay.
I complained to Home Affairs and they rectified the problem.
Let’s all stop paying these bribes and get our 90 days for each entry free as per the RSA/ Zim bilateral agreement

Dear Colleagues
Kindly find bellow correspondence for your attention.
Client, please note that your enquiry has been referred to Immigration Services for further considerations.
Thanks very much.

Acting Director General
Department of Home Affairs
South Africa.
Dear Client
Kindly note that your concern is noted and the matter is receiving necessary attention. However in the absentia of copies of the passport it will be difficult to rectify the mistake and update the system.
I have discussed the matter with the Port Manager Mr Sipho Chauke and he indicated that the matter can only be resolved on the day that your daughter will be departing.
However he advised that on the day that your daughter will be departing she should report directly at his office and not to the Immigration counters in order to avoid un-necessary delays. Mr Chauke may be contacted on 015 530 00967/ 072 889 6096.
