President Emmerson Mnangagwa addressing the UN General Assembly

Emmerson Mnangagwa|In my address to the UN General Assembly, I outlined the comprehensive reforms we are undertaking for the benefit, protection and prosperity of our people. The impact of these changes takes time but we are going in the right direction. Our people deserve better and we are committed to delivering.

We are engaging with the international community as we return Zimbabwe to its rightful place in the family of nations. Our arms remain outstretched with a genuine heart of friendship and cooperation to all those willing to join us in our journey of national rebirth.

These efforts are spite of the sanctions we continue to face. Sanctions are slowing down our progress, inhibiting our economic recovery and punishing the most vulnerable. Zimbabwe deserves a new start. Sanctions are a lose-lose game. Co-operation is a win-win!

I urge the world to be patient with us, support us and join us on this new and exciting journey. Together we will realise our common vision of a future free of poverty, hunger and conflict, on a safe planet, for the benefit of all our people!
