The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected ZIFA’s appeal against its decision to ban all local stadiums from hosting international football games.

CAF arrived at the decision to sanction all local stadiums form staging international games citing lack of set international standards, meaning the senior men’s national football team, the Warriors, will host Algeria in a AFCON 2021 Group H qualifier at a neutral venue outside the country.

The Felton Kamambo-led administration had hoped that the appeal would mean CAF conduct another inspection before the Algeria clash, which has been rejected.

Meanwhile, ZIFA today failed to appear before a Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth Sports, Arts and Recreation where they scheduled to give oral evidence on the on the stadium ban imposed by CAF last week.

The Committee did however receive oral evidence on the state of sporting infrastructure in the country from the Sports and Commision as well as local authorities including City of Mutare who were represented by Town Clerk Joshua Maligwa. City of Harare and Zvishavane Town Council also appeared before the parliamentary committee, while Bulawayo City Council failed to appear despite receiving an invitation.
