He was 53.

Taruvinga succumbed to cancer earlier this week at his family home in Hillside, Bulawayo.

The party’s Matabeleland South Provincial chairman, Mangaliso Ndlovu, confirmed his passing.

“I can confirm that we have lost the Member of the National Assembly for Insiza North. He had been unwell for some time,” said Ndlovu.

A close friend of the late legislator, Sifiso ‘Mafifi’ Mpofu, said Taruvinga had been battling high-grade sarcoma cancer.

“He passed on around 8 AM at his home in Hillside, Bulawayo. He had been fighting the disease for some time,” Mpofu said.

He added that more details regarding funeral arrangements would be shared by the family in due course.

Taruvinga was serving his second term as a Member of the National Assembly. 

Beyond politics, he was a businessman with interests spanning mining, retail, and entertainment.

He was the director of Progress Mine, Filabusi Abattoir, Skuta Irrigation Scheme, Anradel Cattle Ranch, and Marvel Shopping and Leisure Centre.
