By Langton Ncube|The Dumiso Dabengwa  led , Zapu said President Emmerson Mnangagwa should appoint  his Zanu PF party’s  spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo to the position of the  Vice-President.

Zapu told NewsDay that the appointment of SK Moyo to the Vice President’s post was in line with provisions of the 1987 Unity Accord.

But according to SK Moyo the choice of who becomes Vice President is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s prerogative.

Zapu Harare provincial secretary-general Elphacy Dube said Zanu-PF had for a long  time been appointing  the national chairperson as its second Vice President but the tradition was broken when Mugabe chose Phelekezela Mphoko over then national chairperson Simon Khaya Moyo.

“Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo was appointed VP by virtue of him being the president of PF Zapu and Joseph Msika became the national chairman by virtue of him being the vice to Nkomo at party level,” said Dube.

“When Nkomo died in July 1999, Msika took over as the VP and John Nkomo became the national chairman.

This was a clear structure that Zapu PF followed so much that when Msika died in August 2009, John Nkomo, who was the national chairman, took over as VP and in came Khaya Moyo to fill the vacant post of national chairman,” he said.

  1. ZAPU?? They pulled out of the Unity Accord. Why do they want to benefit under Unity Accord that they willingly opted out. ZAPU?? Matsotsi. Come out clear and clean in this saga. Why confuse the Nation???????

  2. Can S.K. Moyo be trusted today? He stood by the Mugabe’s and G40 when Mnangagwa was expelled. And he even read out a terse speech condemning the expelled Mnangagwa.

  3. This so called Zapu provincial general secretary of Harare province is obviously fake in all aspects. If he infiltrated Zapu they must get rid of him forthwith. He is part of a group whose mission is to distort Zapu to the electorate. Iphithule Maphosa Zapu spokesperson made it clear that Dabengwa has nothing to do with ZanuPF.

  4. Lobu ke yibulema obuphindiweyo. Leave Zapu and Dabengwa alone as they have nothing to do with Zanu Affairs.

  5. Exactly what I wanted to say. They even went to court seeking to have the December 22 Holiday scapped.

  6. I am told Mboko embarked on a hunger strike while in Japan, when he was told that he had been fired from both the government and party.

  7. S. K. Moyo could have actually made a better VP than the fool, who spent years staying at Rainbow Towers!
