OAccording to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), over 5 million people have registered to vote with 4 million people  having so far checked their registration status and details in the 10 day on going voter verification exercise which started on May 19.

Barely a few days after proclaiming that the Zimbabwe National army will do another coup this year, Deputy Finance Minister Terence Mukupe has spoken again saying the MDC Alliance will never, ever run Zimbabwe.

He made this announcement, as ZimEye reveals, at a ZICOSU meeting where he said, he will not apologise about it, “if you want to follow MDC, you must know that your things will only end up at Harvest House. If you follow ZANU PF, your things will only end up at State House.” VIDEO

Zanu-PF Fears Losing Supporters

Manicaland – A Zanu PF official has expressed fear that disgruntled party supporters will vote for the opposition in the forthcoming elections in protest over the chaotic manner in which the party primary elections were held.

Ellen Gwaradzimba, an aspiring Zanu-PF senator told a provincial co-ordination committee meeting in Mutare on Thursday that there was need to conduct a “healing process” to bring back disgruntled supporters.

“Allegations are that there are some disgruntled people who are not happy with the primary elections. There are people who are saying that they will only vote for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and a councillor, not for an MP. It’s a dangerous situation,” she said.

“This means that President Mnangagwa will be surrounded by ‘enemies’ in Parliament. In our constituencies, we know these people. Let’s talk to them because they are not politically mature. The party should come first.”

Gwaradzimba added that the primary elections had complicated the matter.

“With the new dispensation, we have a fertile ground to win elections, but we need people who are sensitive to issues of Zanu PF,” she said.

“We can’t do primary elections forever and this is a serious issue that might see us losing the elections. I have realised that the level of political maturity is different.”

Some disgruntled party supporters have been besieging the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare, protesting the imposition of candidates and rigging during the recent primary elections.

Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairman Mike Madiro told the meeting that there was no way the party could have held perfect primary elections.

“Going into the elections, we should now focus on our weakness; not strengths because this is common in us and naturally we cannot be perfect,” he said.

He said Zanu PF has an upper hand over opposition parties as it can use some arms of the government. “We have an advantage against other parties because we have arms of the government, and we should be on guard because of social media and a lot of money has been pumped to destroy us,” Madiro claimed. – state media

Deputy Minister Mukupe Faces Arrest For Assault and Theft

FINANCE deputy minister Terence Mukupe has found himself in fresh trouble after he allegedly assaulted the wife of NewsDay journalist, Blessed Mhlanga − Florence − before he allegedly stole her mobile phone.

Mukupe and Mhlanga had gone to a State radio station to debate over a story in which the minister was quoted as having said the military would not allow MDC-T leader, Nelson Chamisa to take the levers of power if he wins the forthcoming elections.

According to Mhlanga, the minister accused the scribe of being paid to soil his image by writing about his controversial remarks.

The two exchanged harsh words on air, forcing the deputy minister to abandon the programme before he threatened to assault the reporter, saying he wanted to “teach him a lesson”.

After being restrained by his aides, Mhlanga alleges that Mukupe went for the journalist’s wife who had taken her phone to record the fracas that was ensuing.

“His aides held him as he came towards me saying I needed to be taught a lesson. It was at this time that my wife captured the moments of madness on her phone. Mukupe then charged at my wife grabbed her left hand and started wrestling the phone away from her. He was assisted by his security aides,” Mhlanga said in a police report made at Highlands Police Station under case number, RRB3533752.

Mhlanga alleged that Mukupe stole his wife’s phone as she had recorded video evidence of the deputy minister charging towards him.

“The deputy minister took the phone after tearing her jacket and started shouting, daring us to report the matter to whoever we wished,” Mhlanga said.

The minister is not new to public violence tendencies as early this year he was fined for assaulting his ministry’s finance director, 58-year-old Ignatius Mvere, for allegedly giving him a “paltry $910 travel allowance”.

Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa)-Zimbabwe director, Tabani Moyo said Mukupe’s actions were an impediment to the work of journalists.

“We condemn this action and call upon the police to ensure that this case is investigated upon without fear or favour as journalism work is a constitutional issue which is provided for under section 61 of the supreme law. We abhor the practise by some politicians to take the law into their hands and start to attack journalist. This is bad and irrational,” Moyo said.

Zimbabwe National Editors’ Forum president, Njabulo Ncube said President Emmerson Mnangagwa should fire Mukupe as his “wayward behaviour” was betraying him.

“His actions on a weekly basis do not dovetail the mantra by Mnangagwa that Zimbabwe is open for business and that he has broken from the past. Mukupe’ behaviour give credence to assertion that it is all rhetoric that Zimbabwe is open for business,” Ncube said. – Newsday

Mnangagwa Secret Meeting With Mugabe

There has been a secret meeting between Robert Mugabe and Ememrson Mnangagwa the Children Of Zimbabwe organisation has claimed.

Below is the full text:

ED runs to Mugabe for help as things fall apart

Zimbabwe coup president ED Mnangagwa had to run for help to Mugabe today. Ed had to sort the mediation of Mugabe’s long time friend who is also the president of Equatorial /G. Mugabe once saved his friend from coup d’etat some time ago. Source close to this writer said, “abt 5000 military intelligence personal who are deployed around are picking up information that some rural areas where Mugabe used to enjoy much support are refusing to accept ED”. Efforts by Zanu pf to do rallies in areas like Mash west, Mash Central and Mash east have proven unfruitful. Even the church leaders where ED is forcing to hold rallies are telling him straight that ,”denga harina kufara nematorero amakaita chisimba.”
Ed become even more worried when pro Mugabe party NPF threatened to join MDC alliance whilst pushing a “bhora musango” agenda. Besides, all is not well in Zanu of as Team Lacoste and hired military Junta fights for power.

Ed is said to be very uncomfortable with elections and is desperately in need of Mugabe’s blessing. Zanu pf tried to infiltrate and divide NPF, NPP and MDC to split votes but all these and other efforts have failed. At the same time ZIPP being led by Dr Kasiyamhuru can not be underrated. Now pressure has mounted against ED from all corners as fuel disappears from market whilst prices of basic commodities starts to shoot. Efforts to rig are proving unfruitful after the EU pledged to provide funds for voters roll external audit something which Zec was using as a shield.
Recently Josiah Hungwe and Terrence Mukupe were quoted saying Zanu pf will resort to the influence of the gun if it loses this elections. Clearing this expresses how desperate these pple have become after all , their efforts have proven fruitless.
Now Mugabe is the only hope for ED. With his blessing Zanu pf is set to get a humiliating historic defeat.

Mukupe Says This Year Army Will Do Another Coup

ANALYSIS|  The declarations by the Deputy Finance minister, Terence Mukupe have flung out that according to him, there will be another coup this year if MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa wins the 2018 elections.

In what now clearly scares investors away from Zimbabwe, Mukupe announced that the army will not allow Chamisa to enter state house.

The Finance Minister (dep)’s comments came at a time when the Zimbabwean government is seeking international recognition as a civilian state, not a military one. It also comes as the President sought to assert that the November military coup was a civilian transition and nothing to do with the military.

Mukupe said soldiers did not remove Robert Mugabe so to pass on the Presidency to a young inexperienced Nelson Chamisa.

He made these comments while addressing a cell group in Mandara, Harare.

He began by saying, “let us be truthful, our nation where it is and where it is going , it needs an elderly person with a steady hand, who will stabilise things.  For me to say the army took over the country from vaMugabe so that they can hand over to a young man who is talking about spaghetti roads, and talking about impregnating all women. Isn’t you heard him saying these things?

“After saying these things, you say Mnangagwa if he wins I will give him my sister, it is almost being scornful of all women. Imagine me telling you that I want to impregnate all you women, would you vote for me?

“This is what I am saying, even I myself I want to rule, do you hear?  No one refuses to sit in a Mercedes Benz and get all the sirens, but these things have their own time. I don’t think I have the maturity level to get the whole country and the soldiers now saluting me(di; but I heard him saying at one time he is already rehearsing performing Presidential guard inspections like this…”

The development came as the party held its primaries in Kuwadzana East.

Hwende says the primaries were halted over fears of violence.

meeting in Kuwadzana East Friday afternoon

While a comment from his opponent was not possible at the time of writing, Hwende wrote out Friday evening saying: “Those sending messages to my inbox I would like to let you know that our Primary Election in Kuwadzana East today was stopped by the so called vanguard Youths led by their Leader who was my opponent in the election.

“I would like to thank those who turned up for remaining steadfast and vigilant and resisting provocation from a group of 30 or so youths bused into the Constitution to disrupt the party process.

“The same group disrupted our consensus process a week ago.

“MDC is a Democratic Party and has no room for violence or subversion of the people’s will. I hope the party will look into this matter seriously as my safety is now a matter of concern. I am a father of three kids apart from being a politician and the safety of my family takes precedence over anything else.”

“MDC T Will Never Rule Zimbabwe”: Mukupe

Minister Terence Mukupe

By Own Correspondent| Finance and Economic Development minister Terence Mukupe has reiterated claims that the MDC Alliance will never rule Zimbabwe.

Mukupe said the statement while addressing students today (Friday) at Kwekwe Polytechnic college.

“I am not even apologetic for telling you that no matter what, the MDC T will never rule this country,” he said.

Mukupe said the youths must know which political formation to join if ever they had plans to lead Zimbabwe.

He said joining the opposition political formations would never guarantee any leadership  position since State House was only for Zanu Pf leaders.

“Know the formula that gets you into leadership.

If you join maChinja (MDC T) know that everything ends at Harvest house, but if you join Zanu Pf, know that everything ends at State House and that is the reality,” said Mukupe.

He further urged the youths to have the wisdom to know which political party to support and join adding that Zanu Pf was the only party certified to produce the country’s leadership.

“Zvimwe zvinoda wisdom meaning some of the decisions you make should be done with wisdom,” said Mukupe.

“Know that if ever you want to lead this country and make all the decisions, know where to go instead of continuously ranting MDC T slogans including hezvoko bwaa.”

“Not really, he is completely different. He plays with the left, [and] I play with the right.” the 33-year-old Portuguese international told the BT Sport Channel.

ZEC’ s Monumental Shortcomings Exposed

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo

A Masvingo based Non Governmental Organisation, Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development(COTRAD), has bemoaned the chaotic manner in which the Voters’ Roll inspection process is being carried out by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC).

COTRAD has pointed out that there are numerous setbacks in the whole process.

COTRAD Programmes Manager Zivanai Muzorodzi yesterday said:

There are some hiccups in the verification process. Voter educators came to the communities just two days before the commencement of the inspection process.

There is need for ample time to educate potential voters before inspection.

The accreditation fee for local observers is exorbitant and diabolical.

The online verification system is erratic.

We are also concerned about poor information dissemination methods in the rural areas.

We therefore implore ZEC to collaborate with local organic groups like burial societies, deep tank leaders, traditional leaders ,churches ,people living with disabilities, youth and women groups.

We also urge ZEC to reduce the local observer’s fee. In addition there is need to open information kiosks at ward level.”

Stop Abusing Our Children- Mujuru’ s NPP Tells Zanu PF

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru.

Terrence Mawawa

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru has openly challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ s Zanu PF to desist from forcing school pupils to attend the revolutionary party’ s political rallies.

National People’ s Party(NPP) Spokesperson Jeffryson Chitando yesterday said:
“Zanu PF must stop abusing school children.

Zanu PF is also forcing school heads to donate school buses to ferry ruling party supporters to and from political rallies.

We are likely to witness more school buses ferrying school children and unwilling villagers to and from Zanu PF rallies.

The school buses were bought by parents for the sole purpose of educational trips.”

“Parents belong to different political parties.

It’s unconstitutional for Zanu PF to force parents to literally fund its political activities,” said Chitando.

“The Zanu PF rally at Sakubva Stadium rally had many school children who were forced to attend the event.

The learning time that was lost by the students will never be compensated.

Teachers were also forced to accompany the students to the rallies,” argued Chitando.

I Am Ready To Ascend To Heaven: Hungwe

Josiah Hungwe

Terrence Mawawa

Controversial Masvingo State Minister Josaya Dunira Hungwe has incredibly claimed he will retire from politics after elections and “ascend to heaven.”

Hungwe told Chiredzi residents at a government function on Tuesday he would quit politics after the coming polls.

Hungwe further postulated that the ruling party Zanu PF would win the General Elections resoundingly.

“I have been in politics since 1957 and I will call it a day after the coming crucial polls.

Obviously I will spearhead the ruling party campaign programme,” said Hungwe.

“I will go to my rural home after retiring from politics. Where else can I go? I can even ascend to heaven because I have worked hard for a long time,”he said.

Mnangagwa’s Sincerity To Tackle Graft Under Spotlight

President Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sincerity to tackle corruption has once again hogged the limelight amid indications by the Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi that the establishment of a special anti-corruption unit in his office was influenced by the realisation that other State security agencies were reluctant to tackle high-profile graft cases.

The Office of the President and Cabinet last Tuesday announced the establishment of the unit whose mandate aims at resolving high profile graft cases which have remained unresolved.

However, the establishment of the anti corruption. unit within the Office of the President was condemned by certain sections of society, with analysts describing it as an unconstitutional duplication of duties for work which is suppossed to be done by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Ziyambi told journalists in Harare (Wednesday) that the reluctance to deal with corruption cases being exhibited by some bodies had necessitated the need for the special unit, whose establishment also heeds the dictates of the Constitution.

“The manifest reluctance by some relevant bodies to tackle corruption cases has spurred the President to set up a special anti-corruption unit which contrary to some sections of the society is not tainted with any illegality.

It’s business unusual and things will be done differently and expeditiously especially the prosecution of a number of high profile corruption cases,” said Ziyambi.

The Justice minister however said while the unit reports directly to Mnangagwa, it would work in close liaison with other State security agencies.

“The unit will, pursuant to section 263 of the Constitution, read together with section 27 of the National Prosecuting Authority Act (Chapter 7:20) proceed to prosecute matters to finality.

“The unit will collaborate with Zacc and the police and it will also assist other investigative agencies of the State in the perusal and consideration of corruption dockets,” he said.

In 2017, Zimbabwe was ranked 157 out of 175 countries on the corruption perception index, a ranking which according to analysts negatively influences investor confidence in the country.

Mukupe’s Father In Law Funding ED?

By Own Correspondent| Deputy minister for Finance, Terence Mukupe is reportedly untouchable and will not be fired because his father in law is funding President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu Pf.

The allegation was made by one ED_Josp while responding to Newsday journalist, Blessed Mhlanga’s claims that his wife was assaulted by the deputy minister at SFM last night.

Mukupe is the current Zanu Pf legislator for Harare East.

In November 2017, he was appointed deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

His father in law, one Oliver Chidhawu is reportedly funding the party alleged Liberty Batsi.

https://twitter.com/gatsi_liberty/status/999890945557463044?s=19

Mnangagwa, it is alleged is afraid to fire Mukupe because of his inlaws’ influence.

Mukupe was in April this year arrested and fined for assaulting his ministry’s finance director, 58-year-old Ignatius Mvere, for allegedly giving him a “paltry $910 travel allowance”.

Last night, during a live political debate on Star FM, Mukupe mocked Tendai Biti for being an HIV infected person.

After being accused of coming to a radio programme drunk by Biti, Mukupe said You tell me about being drunk have you taken your pills? You talk about my being drunk have I said that you take ARVs?”

Last week, Mukupe hit the headlines when he said Zimbabwe’s armed forces won’t allow opposition MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa to rule the country if he beats President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the forthcoming presidential election, a statement which he later denied.

Terence Mukhupe And T Khupe Vakonzeresa Mhani!

(ANALYSIS) While President Emmerson Mnangagwa is blowing millions of dollars travelling around the world preaching that Zimbabwe is a civilian state, his own ministers are declaring that it is instead under brutal military rule.

This week, the message was made louder by Mnangagwa’s complete silence and failure to reverse the proclamations made by two sitting ministers, plus the recent ones made by the president’s own special advisor, Chris Mutsvangwa.

This week alone, two ministers declared that soldiers will have the last say in the running of affairs. To add salt to injury, one of these is the minister in charge of investor-confidence, the Ministry Of Finance, Terrence Mukupe who boldly declared that soldiers will obstinately disregard the nation’s laws and have the final say in August this year.

The Information minister, Simon Khaya-Moyo made the situation worse by issuing a dry statement in which he said Mukupe’s proclamation to his knowledge so far existed only in a newspaper article. This was so despite the clear full blown video which remained on the minister’s Facebook portal since Monday.

To add more salt to injury to date, nothing has been done to Mukupe whose holding of the office continues to destroy Zimbabwe’s reputation as a business friendly nation.

So what risk assessment message will investors get now, let alone Zimbabwe’s insurance industry the key pusher of prices? (The industry is driven by risk assessment and so far a single incident of security disorder for instance in December, has seen prices shooting up.)

Chihuri On Life Support?

By Own Correspondent| Former Police Boss, Augustine Chihuri is seriously sick and is on life support in Malawi, Stanley Goreraza has alleged.

Goreraza, who was the first husband to former first lady, Dr Grace Mugabe revealed this in a facebook post where he said Chihuri’s sickness was as a result of his past atrocities committed against the people of Zimbabwe.

Goreraza said Chihuri deserved the pain he was going through because he had instigated the deaths of so many innocent civilians during his tenure as the police boss.

“He thought this time would never come. God is punishing him now,” said Goreraza.

Below is Goreraza’s full text.

“Boxing” Mukupe At It Again: Assaults Journalist’s Wife

By Own Correspondent| Deputy minister for Finance, Terence Mukupe has once again hogged the limelight for violence amid claims that he assaulted Newsday journalist, Blessed Mhlanga’s wife.

Mukupe allegedly assaulted the scribe’s better half at SFM studios where he was supposed to be guest on a radio program.

Mhlanga alleged that Mukupe also “stole” his wife’s phone as she had recorded video evidence of the deputy minister charging towards the scribe in a move aimed at attacking him.

People took to Twitter denouncing Mukupe’s unruly behaviour calling on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to fire him or risk dragging his name into the mud.

UPDATED: What’s Mnangagwa Screaming To Investors By Retaining Mukupe In Office – Zimbabwe is Under Civilian Or Under Brutal Military Rule?

(ANALYSIS) While President Emmerson Mnangagwa is spending millions of dollars travelling around the world preaching that Zimbabwe is a civilian state, his own ministers are declaring that it is instead under brutal military rule.

HUBBY SMASHED WIFE TO DEATH WITH HAMMER: Family Demands 6 Cows Before Burial

6 cows demanded for payment before burial

A man who allegedly smashed his wife to death with a hammer, has been slapped with a demand for 6 cows before burial.

The deceased was one of two women crushed with a hammer before they were stabbed more than seven times each with a spear following a domestic misunderstanding.

Amos Nkala (46) of Balanda area, Village 7, Ward 8, Bubi District in Matabeleland North allegedly crushed his wife, Simangele Tshuma (41) and her cousin, Nongazi Nkala (39)’s heads with a hammer on Sunday.

Villagers said the upper parts of the bodies looked flattened.

He stabbed his wife four times in her back, thrice in the chest and once in the head and also stabbed his cousin twice in the back, once on the forehead, four times in the chest and abdomen before he left the spear stuck in her left breast.

Villagers said Amos could have stabbed the women after killing them with the hammer.

Amos cycled off at high speed after the killings and is still at large.

His wife’s family has since ignored her body at Inyathi District Hospital since its return from the United Bulawayo Hospitals where it had been taken for post mortem.

Sources close to the families said they are demanding six cows for lobola which was owed and thereafter they would discuss the funeral expenses and compensation for the killing.

Her cousin, Nongazi, was buried yesterday at her matrimonial home within the village.

A relative who spoke on condition of anonymity said the in-laws were insisting on the payment before burial could take place.

“They are gathered in Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo but declared that they would not bury Tshuma until their demands are met,” said the source.

Tshuma comes from Lupane District and it had been hoped that they would collect the body for burial at her rural home.

Zanu-PF councillor for Ward 8, Clr Herbert Ngwendu, said villagers had embarked on a manhunt for Amos and had vowed not to rest until he was caught.

“Villagers are working tirelessly to track down the alleged criminal and through the guidance of the Lord, we will catch him. We are however, appealing to the police to assist in tracking him down as they are more experienced. If they could bring down their sniffer dogs, surely they can find him because we have been seeing his tracks,” he said.

Sources said Tshuma, who had gone to South Africa for a break, returned last Thursday night, only to be gruesomely killed on Sunday.

Narrating events that led to the killing, Clr Ngwendu said: “On Sunday morning Amos left for work, and when he returned at around 1PM, he found a number of women including Tshuma’s daughter from another marriage, Roselyn, who had come from her matrimonial home to visit her mother,” said a source.

Amos politely asked the villagers to leave. He went into a hut with his wife and his cousin, leaving Roselyn seated outside.

“Tshuma’s daughter says she heard thumping sounds and when she took a peek, she saw Amos hammering her mother. Both women looked dead. One of them had her brains splattered on the floor. Amos dashed outside and Roselyn says he grabbed a spear from another room. She rushed to call neighbours and they found both women lying in pools of blood, already dead.” – state media

Robber Caught Red Handed Using DNA Technology

A man who was one of three suspects captured on closed circuit television (CCTV) while killing and robbing a security guard at a company in Bulawayo’s Thorngrove industrial area, has been caught red handed using DNA tracing technology.

The man was yesterday sentenced to life imprisonment.

Jabulani Ndlovu (36) of Thorngrove squatter camp broke into Buchu Meat Wholesalers and fatally struck Jabulani Madolo (48) with a four-pound hammer on the head before robbing him of $20 and two cellphones.

Ndlovu tried to deny he was at the scene on the day of the gruesome killing but DNA evidence certified by the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) Applied Genetic Testing Centre and the CCTV footage nailed him.

Video footage from a CCTV camera mounted at the company premises led to the positive identification and subsequent arrest of Ndlovu.
Ndlovu was convicted of murder with actual intent by Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Maxwell Takuva in connection with Madolo’s death. Ndlovu’s accomplices are still at large.

In his judgment, Justice Takuva said Ndlovu was not a credible witness whose testimony could not be relied on because it was fraught with inconsistencies.
In passing sentence, Justice Takuva condemned Ndlovu’s conduct, saying the murder was committed in a callous manner.

“This murder was committed in the course of a robbery in the most gruesome and callous manner by people who had no respect for human life. The deceased died a very painful and violent death in a cold and heinous manner,” said the judge.

He described Ndlovu as an evil person who deserved to be permanently removed from society.

“The CCTV footage showed the accused and his accomplices incessantly attacking the deceased on the head in a very brutal manner as he lay helplessly on the ground. The accused used dangerous weapons, a clear indication that he is an inherently wicked person who should not be allowed to be in society,” said Justice Takuva.

He said the courts have a duty to uphold the sanctity of human life through passing lengthy prison terms.

“A lengthy term of imprisonment is unavoidable. In the result, the accused is sentenced to life imprisonment,” ruled Justice Takuva.

Prosecuting, Mrs Sifiso Ndlovu-Sibanda said on July 2 in 2015 at around 6PM, Madolo reported for duty at Buchu Meat Wholesalers together with a colleague identified as Innocent Gwama.

The deceased and Gwama were deployed to guard different sections of the building.

The court heard that at around 1.30AM, the accused person and his accomplices went to the premises where they cut the perimeter fence to gain entry. After breaking into the workshop through an open space on the roof, they stole an iron rod, steel diggers and a four-pound hammer. Using the iron rods, the trio stormed Buchu Wholesalers with the intention of stealing meat.

They used the tools to force open the refrigerated containers filled with meat but Madolo spotted them and attempted to raise alarm.

“The accused suddenly pounced on Madolo and struck him with an iron rod and robbed him of $20, which was in his pocket while his accomplices took away his two mobile phones,” said Mrs Ndlovu-Sibanda.

After the attack, the suspects tried to pour water on Madolo in a bid to resuscitate him. On realising that he was already dead, the trio fled from the scene during which Ndlovu left behind one of his sports shoes.

A post-mortem report indicated that Madolo’s death was caused by severe cerebral oedema, subarachnoid haemorrhage, severe head injuries and multiple cerebral contusions. Ndlovu was arrested after his image was captured on the company’s CCTV.

Ndlovu’s sports shoe was taken to the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) tests. The DNA profile matching that of the deceased was obtained from the blood stains found on Ndlovu’s shoe.

An affidavit tendered by Mr Zephaniah Dhlamini, the chairman of the Department of Applied Biology and Biochemistry at Nust, was produced in court as part of exhibits. In his defence through his lawyers Ms Swally Munherendi and Mr Abednico Ndebele from Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers, Ndlovu denied the charges, arguing that on that particular day, he was betting and drinking beer at a local beer garden until he got drunk.
Ndlovu said because of his drunkenness, he lost one of his sports shoes and only noticed it the following day.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s wife, Ms Rebecca Dube (46) and her sister-in-law, Mrs Sanelisiwe Nkala (44), commended the court for the sentence. They said although Ndlovu deserved a death sentence, they were happy with the life imprisonment.

Ms Dube said Ndlovu’s family did not show any remorse or contribute towards the funeral of her husband.

“I am now left with the burden of solely taking care of my two minor children following the death of my husband who was killed in the most brutal manner by the accused and his accomplices,” she said. – state media

Mnangagwa Govt Offloads $150K for Chinhoyi Shrine

The state media reports that government has released $150 000 for the contruction of a Chinhoyi shrine.

President Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the ground-breaking ceremony for the commencement of the project in the first week of next month.

The project will see the construction of a memorial and rehabilitation of the mass grave where the seven heroes are buried and creation of a site museum providing information on the battle.

The Herald quotes the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe executive director Dr Godfrey Mahachi, whp said Government is keen on the speedy implementation of the project.

“This is an effort by Government to ensure that the 1966 Chinhoyi Battle and the people who died during that battle are remembered,” he said.

“For this project we have recently received about $150 000 from Government. We want to start the project right away and to that end preparatory meetings are ongoing. Committees have been set up and they should start working immediately.”

The Chinhoyi Battle project, he said is part of a wider enshrinement programme by Government targeting key sites of the Second Chimurenga across the country.

The seven comrades who perished during the Chinhoyi Battle were Simon Chin’ozha, David Guzuzu, Godwin Manyerenyere, Christopher Chatambudza, Godfrey Dube Matsikidze, Arthur Maramba and Sawana Mutendadzamera. – state media

MAKANDIWA’S LAWYER DECLARED A FAKE: 40 Lawyers Join List Of The Banned

The development that saw controversial preacher Emmanuel Makandiwa’s choice lawyer, being exposed as a fraudster, and a de-registered lawyer, has seen 40 others joining the list of banned practitioners.

Mr Tichaona Mawere has defrauded many vulnerable customers since 2011 and he was last year further exposed when Law Society of Zimbabwe president Mr Misheck Hogwe revealed that he is illegal, following his several convictions of fraud.

Yesterday Mr Hogwe revealed that 40 more lawyers have been added to the list. He said they have barred 40 lawyers from practising for various reasons.

27 lawyers are from Harare, five from Bulawayo and the rest from different towns. Hogwe said “As the Law Society, we take stock to check which lawyers do not have PCs.

“If any of them have been practising, we charge them. So by publishing the list we want to protect the public. What we do is that at the beginning of each year, we renew Practising Certificates and before a lawyer can obtain a Practising Certificate, their law firm should have a clean audit certificate.

“Besides the audit certificate, the lawyer has to pay Practising certificate fees and subscriptions. So I would not say that a PC is not granted for one reason because they vary. For lawyers whose status reads ‘Application Denied’, they might be having pending acts of misconduct or their audit certificates are not clean.”

Govt Awards Civil Servants Massive 17,5% Pay Rise But It Will Be Paid In July, A Few Days Before 2018 Elections

By Erick Banda | The government has announced that it has struck a deal with civil servants that will give them a massive pay rise. In the statement, the state-employer promises that it will begin its first payments a few days before the upcoming 2018 elections.

The government will also pay cash to teachers for their accrued vacation leave in excess of 123 days on a staggered basis from July to December 2018

The announcement read, in part: “The Apex Council had a meeting with the Government today (yesterday) at Livingstone House in Harare to iron out outstanding issues.

“After a protracted meeting which almost took the negotiations to their knees, the two sides later agreed on the Government’s latest offer of 17,5 percent as a special civil service salary that covers basic salary, housing and transport allowances. It will be paid to the members of the civil service with effect from July 2018.”

Man Rapes Own Daughter For 5 Years, Promises Her Laptop- Court Papers

Bulawayo police have arrested a 49 year old man and charged him for raping his 19 year old daughter for 5 years. The grave charges state that the Pumula North man allegedly promised the daughter a laptop and some money in exchange for her body.

The daughter was raped since she was 14, when her mother died, the papers claimed.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, allegedly promised the girl a laptop and $100 when he started abusing her.

“On the first attempt, the suspect promised the minor that he would give her $100 and buy her a laptop which he never delivered,” said a source close to the family.

“As he continued to rape her over the years, he still made false promises until the time she realised that she was being abused.”

Sources said the man guarded his daughter jealously and would not allow her to speak to neighbours or have friends.

“It’s possible the juvenile was not aware she was being abused. She only decided to report her father after learning of the effects of rape and upon realising that her father would not stop abusing her. She endured five years of despicable abuse,” said a neighbour.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the matter and said the suspect had been arrested.

“I can confirm the arrest of a 49-year-old man who allegedly sexually abused his biological daughter for five years. Since 2013, the man has been allegedly raping his daughter on different occasions until last month. She reported the matter and the suspect was arrested. Investigations are underway,” she said.

Insp Simango urged members of the public, especially children, to report rape incidents or any other forms of abuse as soon as they happen.

“No matter how much you may have been threatened not to reveal such matters, talk to family, relatives, neighbours or report straight to the police so that the perpetrators are brought to book.

“We also advise the community never to leave the girl child in the custody of males, whether it’s a biological parent, relative or neighbours,” she said.

Insp Simango said rape had far reaching effects and should never be taken lightly in society.

Neighbours said the man’s wife died in 2013 and he remained in custody of his two daughters.

“We have been suspecting the man was sexually abusing his daughter since she was younger and are glad she has finally decided to open up. The girl has always been withdrawn from other kids but we thought the death of her mother may have affected her.

“He may even be abusing her sibling as well. We hope police will thoroughly investigate to see if the other child is safe,” said a resident that preferred anonymity.

The resident said they never saw him with a woman since the death of his wife and this made them suspicious.

“We however, thought that he was staying single to protect his children from stepmother abuse. It is sad to note that such a grown up man can have the guts to sleep with his own child,” said the resident—state media

Mnangagwa’s Secret Rescuer: I’m Being Punished Cause I Helped President ED

By Farai D Hove| The man of the moment and the man who secretly assisted president Emmerson mnangagwa to escape and hide in South Africa, the Gwanda born businessman, Justice Maphosa, has said he is being persecuted for assisting Zimbabwe’s head of state.

Between the 7th and 8th of November last year, Maphosa assisted the then vice-president to sneak into South Africa and hide there until the time of the coup.

Soon after those dramatic events, reports swirled that Maphosa has been tried for tax fraud. The police investigations and trial had however happened years before.

But Maphosa told VOA he is being punished because he helped Mnangagwa when he escaped from his former boss and predecessor Robert Mugabe.

Maphosa is being investigated by the Hawks for allegedly committing a multimillion-rand fraud in the North West. He said: “I’m sure you can see from my security detail … You can see how many security people I am with and you can see how many security people I travel with …

“There are people that seem to say we are going to disturb their businesses and people are fighting us. Why am I not being arrested if there is a case to answer. Surely we are a law abiding country.

“If I have done anything wrong I should be arrested and I should be taken to court to be tried. It is a narrative and an effort of my detractors that say ‘we don’t want him to achieve this. We don’t want him to do this.”

Maphosa did not explain the connection between his earlier charges and President Mnangagwa which go back as far as 2013.

CHAMISA MAPHISA RALLY: Update

Low Turnout At Chamisa Rally In Maphisa

By Paul Nyathi| MDC-T President Nelson Chamisa got a very rude awakening when just under a thousand people turned up at his rally at Maphisa growth point on Thursday afternoon.

The rally was held at the growth point Business Centre which is just a few kilometres away from the notorious Bhalagwe Gukurahundi Concentration Camp where thousands of people were killed and thrown down the disused mine shafts.

MDC-T and MDC officials in the MDC Alliance coalition which hosted the rally would not comment on the cause for the low turnout at the rally.

Chamisa has been enjoying huge attendances at rallies that he has held throughout the country with his biggest crowd at White City Stadium in Bulawayo reaching an estimated 30 000 people.

One of the organisers of the rally who would not be mentioned blamed the low turnout at the rally on poor planning on the side of the MDC Alliance leadership and also on the dominance in the area of the Matabeleland regional party Mthwakazi Republic Party.

“The rally was generally poorly planned and timed” said the MDC member.

“We got notice that Chamisa will be coming just three days before his scheduled date and it was bound to be difficult to mibilise,” he said.

“Above all this area is dominated by Mthwakazi Republic Party which has attracted a lot of attention from people here,” he said

After the near flop rally in Maphisa, Chamisa takes his campaigns to Umzingwane District where he is set to hold a rally at little known Mawabeni Business Centre in the morning before proceeding to Gwanda for another rally later in the afternoon.

Chamisa will complete his Matabeleland South rallies with a rally in Beitbridge on Saturday.

TSVANGIRAI LATEST- Child Removed From School Fees Still Unpaid After Sudden Death

Barely 3 months after the death of the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai, the man’s child, Ethan has been kicked out of school for failing to pay school fees.

The development has seen questions being raised over Tsvangirai’s estate management. The executor has been questioned over the proceeds from the estate.

The late MDC leader had an affair with a Bulawayo  woman, Lorreta Leonie Nobesuthu Nyathi, who is now a student nurse.

Nyathi has since written to the executors of Tsvangirai’s estate, Innocent Chagonda and Charles Maunga, demanding assistance. In the letter written by her lawyer Wellington Magaya from Coghlan and Welsh Legal practitioners, Nyathi reveals that Ethan Tsvangirai has not been going to school for four weeks due to non-payment of fees, amounting to 28 800 rand.

A source is quoted by The Daily News saying that the executors and some of the beneficiaries met in Harare last Friday to discuss the estate, with indications that the only property in Tsvangirai’s name is the Strathaven home in Harare, which he co-owned with his late wife, Susan. It was suggested during the meeting that Vincent and Garikai, who are currently staying at Tsvangirai’s Strathaven house, must pay rent to pay for Ethan’s fees.

Lawyers representing Ethan are now contemplating claiming maintenance from Tsvangirai’s estate to foot the child’s school fees, the report says.

Video Of Mukupe Insulting HIV Patients

By Own Correspondent| Deputy Finance minister Terrence Mukupe’s smelly manure continued to spread today after he insulted HIV patients.

Mukupe was castigated on social media after asking opposition politician Tendai Biti if he took AVR pills before coming to a live radio program on Star FM on Thursday afternoon.

Biti accused some corrupt politicians and this did not go well with Mukupe who asked him in Shona, ‘Don’t insult me Biti. Ko iwewe did you take your ARVs today.”

The program was being hosted by Star FM’s 263 Xpress Phathisani and KVG who interjected and apologised to the former finance minister.

Charloto Tsodzo triggered responses when some Zimbabweans castigated Mukupe on social media calling him as ‘uneducated idiot among other sentiments.

Oswell OJ Jeranyama said, ‘It is very pathetic for a minister to be perpetuating stigma around HIV and AIDS,’

Donnemore Ferrari said, ‘When you take a bank clerk and give him a ministerial position, that’s what you get.’

Opposition MP for Harare West Fungayi Jessie Majome asked why did President Emerson Mngagwagwa not fire him.

She posted, ‘Ko why didn’t he send him home first instead of Webster Shamhu when he was arraigned for assaulting a ministry employee? The minister knows how to put the government into disrepute. The President keeps giving him more chances to do so. And why did he appoint him in the first place after he was implicated in the fuel tanker saga? By the way how did that end?’
Many others were livid on their postings but Gloria Rumbidzai Ndoro differed saying people who believe HIV is a stigma then we should be shocked.
‘HIV is like BP and Pulmonary Sarcoidosis which I have. I drink the pills daily. The medical fraternity does not know what causes it or how to treat it. Throughout the world, Sarcoidosis Warriors are being treated for symptoms only. Like HIV, it is a chronic illness. We must not allow HIV infected people to be humiliated by low lives, by dignifying Mukupe’s utterances with further discussion. If I were Biti, I would say, yes I did. Thanks for caring for my health, next question?’
Mukupe has in the news for telling Zanu PF supporters that the army will not accept opposition leader to win forthcoming elections.
Government has since called his statements as ‘reckless, unlawful and unfortunate’

MDC Members Hauled Before The Court For Assault

By Own Correspondent| Three MDC members who engaged in violence during the just ended primary elections have been hauled before the court facing assault charges.

The trio identified as John Katiyo (44), Girisoti Mandere (47) and Gift Chihambakwe (50) in Tuesday appeared before Harare magistrate, Edwin Machera who released them on $100 bail each pending trial.

The three were however not asked to plead.

As part of their bail conditions the trio were ordered to continue residing at their present addresses and not interfere with state witnesses until their case is finalised.

Prosecutor Ropafadzo Bosch told the coirt that on Sunday, Katiyo and Mandere were conducting MDC primary elections for councillors at Fundo Primary School, Kuwadzana Phase 3 in Harare, when the complainant (name not supplied) approached Mandere and asked him to allow a party member identified as Mhashu to enter the polling station.

The court heard that this did not go well with Katiyo and an argument ensued between the parties.

Katiyo allegedly refused to allow Mhashu to enter the polling station and he reportedly grabbed him by the collar and pushed him away before Mandere also joined in.

They were later restrained by other members and the case was reported to the police, leading to their arrest.

The court heard that Chihambakwe was also at the polling station and assaulted Didymus Makochekanwa and Ronald Manjera by striking them on the face.

It is the state’s case that the assault was triggered by their political differences.

The State has lined up independent witnesses to testify in the cases.

ZIFA To Receive $ 1 M From FIFA

Terrence Mawawa

ZIFA is relishing the better times that lie ahead its development projects following recent revelations by FIFA that the world football governing chiefs have substantially increased their investment into member associations through the FIFA Forward programme.

FIFA recently demonstrated willingness to see the growth of the game across the globe by raising its financial injection into the development project of various associations through the Forward programme from which countries such as Zimbabwe will get over $1.25 million annually.

In a statement on its website, FIFA announced the news of the increased investment into the game, a move that has been gladly welcomed by ZIFA finance director Philemon Machana.

“We are significantly increasing our financial support for member associations and football development to 5 million USD per four-year cycle for each member association from 1.6 million USD per cycle.

“This means each association has access to 750,000 US dollars per year for football projects such as pitches, competitions and women’s football.

” Every association will also receive up to 500,000 US dollars per year for running costs in areas including administration and governance.

We are increasing our financial support for the six confederations so that they can do more to develop football in their regions,” said FIFA in a statement.

Chihuri Promises To Speak On Missing Diamonds When He Recovers

By Own Correspondent| Former Commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri, who has failed to attend court and several sessions of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy has written to the committee revealing that he is too sick to attend.

Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee who is the sitting legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa said Chihuri indicated willingness to appear before the committee once he recovers.

“He wrote a letter to explain he was not feeling well but explained his side of the story,” said Mliswa.

“When he feels better, he is willing to appear before us so there is nothing that is swept under the carpet.”

Chihuri  was exposed in previous parliamentary hearings by former commissioners from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) where it emerged that he ran Gye Nyame, the ZRP diamond mine as his own personal business.

Several former police bosses professed ignorance during parliamentary portfolios hearings  on Mines and Energy over how the diamond mining firm was run and how much money it made.

‘ZEC Verification Process Chaotic, Dubious’

NATIONAL, BUSINESS, BREAKING

NATIONAL, BUSINESS, BREAKING

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo

A vibrant Masvingo based civic organisation has expressed concern at the manner in which the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) Verification Exercise is being carried out.

Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development(COTRAD) Programmes Manager Zivanai Muzorodzi yesterday said he was unhappy with ZEC’ s glaring ineptitude.

“Our concern is that the whole process is fraught with irregularities and glaring errors.

Hundreds of local residents have failed to complete the verification procedures due to the chaotic manner in which the process is being carried out.

We have received reports of missing details misspelt words.

We are really concerned about the snail slow pace at which ZEC is operating,” said Muzorodzi.

“We do not know whether ZEC will be able to deal with the ensuing chaos,” he added.

ZEC’ s Plans For More Polling Stations Ploy To Rig Elections

By Own Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)’s plans to introduce more polling stations ahead of the 2018 elections have torched a storm with accusations that the development could be a ploy by the elections body to rig the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Alex Magaisa, a Constitutional law expert alleged that the introduction of more polling stations may be a ploy designed to make it more difficult for the polling stations to be monitored.

Said Magaisa, “ZEC wants to create new polling stations. At first sight, sounds like a great idea but take note:

a. For the 1st time, voting will be polling station-based and so are voters rolls. Millions are already registered based on current polling stations. How will the new fit in?

b. People are inspecting the voters roll & conforming details based on current polling stations. Will they be moved to newly created polling stations? And how will they know? There’s a risk of disrupting the voters roll & turning away voters on polling day.

c.) be careful to check where new polling stations will be created. There’s a chance many will be placed in remote areas, compromised spaces, or will be established late so that monitoring them will be a complete nightmare. That’s where ballot stuffing takes place.

d.) More polling stations means more elections agents for parties to monitor the voting process. It spreads the rigging opportunities wider and stretches

These sentiments were echoed by former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo who wrote on his Twitter timeline,

#RiggingAlert
“ZEC TO ESTABLISH MORE POLLING STATIONS”

”  A PLOY TO STUFF BALLOTS: Rigging polling stations are often set up late. Since voters roll is now polling station based, more polling stations means new voters rolls at the 11th hour!”, wrote Professor Moyo.

Fire Mukupe, Hungwe- NPP Tells Mnangagwa

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru.

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo

The Joice Mujuru led National People’ s Party(NPP) has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to fire Terrence Mukupe(Deputy Finance Minister) and Josaya Dunira Hungwe (Masvingo State Minister) for passing remarks that are likely to cause alarm and despondency in the country.

In a statement released today NPP has accused the two government officials of uttering “reckless words” that are likely to spark civil unrest before the elections.

Below is NPP’ s full statement:
National People’s Party is greatly troubled by the statements by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s allies.

Terrence Mukupe Deputy Minister of Finance and Josiah Hungwe Masvingo Minister of State are on record saying the Zimbabwe National Army will definitely have a say in the outcome of the coming elections.

NPP understands that our army under the able leadership of General V. Sibanda will never be dragged into civilian politics.

However the past events in which the late General Vitalis Zvinavashe announced that the ZNA will not allow any person without war credentials to ever rule Zimbabwe are still in the memory of voters.

Hundreds were killed, displaced and lost property during the 2008 Presidential Election Rerun.

Mukupe and Hungwe have questionable liberation war credentials.

Hungwe’s political history is as bad as his undemocratic mind. The blood of thousands of people who were killed during by Smith regime at his instigation must be haunting him.

While Zanu PF Presidential candidate Mnangagwa is preaching peace by day his right allies are doing the opposite.

If Mnangagwa fired Webster Shamhu for attempting to rig the Zanu PF primary elections then what is stopping him from doing the same to the two?

Zimbabweans are then made to understand that it’s a party strategy meant to intimidate voters.

Josiah Hungwe

Terrence Mawawa, Chiredzi

Controversial Masvingo State Minister Josaya Dunira Hungwe, who is well known for having a loose tongue, has warned the opposition that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will not cede power if he loses the coming elections.

Officiating at a government programme in Chiredzi on Tuesday, Hungwe surprised all and sundry when he deviated from the main agenda and began to campaign for the ruling party.

Hungwe said Mnangagwa assumed power because of his military background.

“A soldier is always a soldier, you have to remember that. Our President is prepared to shoot those who want to stand in his way.

You have to remember that the man is a trained soldier and he can shoot wayward elements. Do you think he can just hand over power? It’s not easy.

We plotted the former President’ s removal from office- yes it was our baby,” charged Hungwe.

70% Fathers Proved Fake

NATIONAL NEWS

The state owned Tabloid, H-Metro has quoted a Global DNA principal consultant Tinashe Mugabe, who said over 70% of paternity tests have proven the fathers to be fake.

He said, “we get a range of 60-75 percent of results coming negative every year. These are realistic records of what we encountered…

“We do approximately 50 to 60 cases per month….The results are national, the sample is representative of the whole nation. We have centres countrywide Harare, Masvingo, Marondera, Bindura and many other places.

“Majority of the cases they come as couples but at times you will see the mother walking in or the father and child walking in, for the discrete test.

“….It’s important to be sure of the paternity, are you really the father of the child? That is important if the child is yours or you are doubting there are consequences that follow. One will not be attached to the child because you are doubting. You will not commit to the child’s daily needs and may not send them to a good school”

Buhera Kombi Crash Latest: 3 More Die

By Own Correspondent| Three more people reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident which claimed 3 people on the spot near Mukondome school in Buhera last night.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that the three died at Murambinda hospital where they had been taken for treatment bringing to 6 the number of people who have died so far in the accident.

In an earlier report, ZimEye revealed that 3 people died on the spot when a commuter omnibus which was travelling from Murambinda to Buhera was involved in an accident.

Details of the accident however remain sketchy since most of the survivors are critical. Efforts to get a comment from the police were also futile.

A relative of one of the survivors who is currently admitted at Mutare General hospital said their relative confirmed that the Kombi was speeding.

“He said he does not know what happened.

All he remembers is that the commutter omnibus was speeding since the driver indicated that he wanted to go to Mutare upon reaching Rusape the same night (yesterday),” said the relative.

LATEST – Grace Mugabe Didn’t Give Me Money For NPF T-Shirts

By Own Correspondent| Following the embarrassing LIVE video shot by the exiled Professor Jonathan Moyo on Monday, the man he was filmed allegedly gossiping about while speaking with Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao, Jealousy Mawarire has responded saying he never received money from Grace Mugabe.

In the video, which has revealed that the two were in Kenya on Monday (READ MORE), Jonathan Moyo is heard repeatedly speaking of a woman who donated money to buy 20,000 t shirts (for the NPF party), while also talking about someone he labels an old person, “muchembere.” Traditionally in Shona, a mother figure is called by the term muchembere, analysts said.

Assumptions were then made on forums that the person referred to as the donor is the former First Lady.

But Mawarire speaking to ZimEye rubbished this. He said, “I don’t have to account anything because Dr Amai never gave me money for t-shirts or any other thing for that matter.

“She has not donated anything to NPF and it’s grossly unfair to drag her into the nonsense that Jonathan and Patrick were saying. I have said it over and over that the t-shirts were paid for directly by a corporate good Samaritan resident in South Africa from his SA account into the account of printers in the same country.

“The corporate good Samaritan also takes care of all the logistics of transporting the t-shirts, identifying and paying the transporters.

“It is his money and he is under no obligation to account for how it was used to the two fugitives who were embarrassingly caught live while gossiping on their way to a restaurant on foot.”

UK: Relatives Allegedly Stole Corpse, “Looted Bank Account”, And Sneaked Out Of Britain For Zimbabwe, Brother Claims In Family Dispute

By Own Correspondent| Relatives of the late Martha Chaparanganda have been accused of stealing her body, raiding her bank account and then sneaking it out of the UK for Zimbabwe.

This was at a time of dispute because the first next of kin, the brother, Elijah who was flown into the United Kingdom by a medical practitioner at St James Hospital in Leeds, wanted adequate forensic checks to be done.

The checks were on the insistence of experts who attended the body soon after hospital and sounded out that the cause of death required further investigations before the death certificate is released.

But a young man acting on instructions of the older brother who is in Zimbabwe flew into the UK a day later,  and managed to obtain the death certificate behind Elijah’s back.

” I was not even allowed to see my sister’s body, can you imagine,” Elijah told ZimEye.com.

He added that he then contacted the death Registry Department to complain on how and why the death certificate was issued without his knowledge and also at a time when the same department had said they would not issue it until after the coroner service has been engaged.

Elijah Chaparanganda then fought to block the body from being flown out of the UK. Contacts were made with the Zimbabwe Embassy in London who repeatedly confessed that there were no papers submitted for the body. They also promised that they would take heed to the notice once papers have been filed.

Soon after that, the man was interviewed by ZimEye and he narrated his ordeal in the below video.

It was at this time thought that everything was secure and the body would not be flown out of the UK.

But the very opposite happened.

It soon suddenly emerged, that the other family members managed to fly the body out of the UK. In order to evade Zimbabwe Embassy authorities they used South Africa as their destination instead of Zimbabwe.

Eventually Martha was flown to Zimbabwe and eventually buried(see picture). A disappointed Elijah now tells ZimEye, he lost the battle to obtain forensics checks on his sister’s body.

Martha Chaparanganda just before burial

He said there are three siblings left after other family members passed on (Martha was the youngest) and it was the older brother who wrestled the corpse away from him.

He however thanked ZimEye for facilitating the interview.

” What do you did still helped to set the record straight because things were not done correctly,” he said, a day before flying back to Africa.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the accused older brother who is in Zimbabwe were fruitless. But sources close to him told ZimEye, ” there was clearly a family dispute and you can see this in how Elijah was blocked from knowing simple specifics for instance the church Martha used to attend.”

– THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY-

Martha Chaparanganda, 50, suddenly passed on on the 27th March at St James Hospital in Leeds.

Just after her death, about £9,000 was allegedly looted from Martha’s bank accounts. She was a Social Worker who ran her own company.

The causes of death have been listed as the following:

  • Multi Organ Failure.
  • Sepsis  Streptococcus, Pneumoniae.
  • Asplenism.

MDC-T Orders Primary Election Rerun

Lynette Karenyi addressing an MDC-T rally recently

By Paul Nyathi|The on going MDC-T primary elections continue to duplicate the just ended ZANU PF primary elections where violence and allegations of rigging caused some constituencies to be rerun.

The party Women’s Wing Leader Lynette Karenyi has won a major reprieve after an order to have the disputed Dangamvura – Chikanga primary election rerun.

The party ordered ordered that the primary election previously won by Prosper Mutseyami be rerun on Friday after Karenyi had complained that the election was not fairly conducted.

Karenyi had threatened to go ahead and contest the election probably as an independent candidate if the result was not reversed.

According to Karenyi only two of the ten wards oin the constituency had the opportunity to cast their votes when the primary election was held last weekend.

The party nullified all the figures provided and ordered for a rerun.

In its just ended primaries, MDCT rival ZANU PF ordered for reruns in ten constituencies after concerns on irregularities and violence were raised by contestants and members.

“God Is Not With You” Goreraza Tells Chamisa On Khupe

Stanley Goreraza

By Paul Nyathi|Former husband to former First Lady Grace Mugabe Stanley Goreraza, who has turned himself into a political critic, has warned MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa to deal with the violence and abuse of women in his party.

Dismissing Chamisa’s popular statement that God is in with his campaign for presidency, Goreraza who was unceremoniously dumped by Grace for former President Robert Mugabe, said in a social media post that Chamisa is losing popularity because of his supporters’ continuous sexist attacks on rival Thokozani Khupe.

His comments come after a contingent of MDC-T supporters gathered outside the supreme court on Tuesday chanting derogatory remarks against Khupe the former MDC-T Deputy President.

Goreraza writes:-

The Mdc led by Nelson Chamisa gets ugly and uglier with each passing day. A demonic spirit of hatred, violence and intolerance is foggying reason and sense in that party. They have become an opposition which hates opposition, and they are not in power.

Without power they are violent, intolerant and filled with hate. God help us all if they get power!

And No, God is not in it. God is Love, Peace, Mercy and Kindness. God was not in your attempts to kill Thokozani Khupe in Buhera. God was not in your vile and disgusting behaviour at the Supreme Court yesterday. And God is never in the filthy and foul hate language you use against anyone and everyone who disagrees with you.

It is your behaviour and mouth which reveal and reflect if God is with you. God is absent where mayhem and madness rule, where evil shouts of war are made and an evil spirit hovers.

The Nelson Chamisa led Mdc is keeping the legacy of Mr Mugabe alive and well. The spirit they have shown is what has led to well known tragedies in places like Ruwanda and Bosnia, and even in Zimbabwe in the early eighties and in 2008. That spirit is being allowed to grow and spread by the Mdc leadership. It is them who incite this spirit when they urge their supporters and youths to come out and show just how they feel. Then they shift the blame to the CIO and Zanupf. It’s pathetic.

No, no, Pastor Chamisa, Gods not in it. The spirit in your party is not of God. It is a dark and frightening spirit that is always ready to do nothing but attack. Your party has become a monster. Anyone against it is not safe. What is even more frightening is you have done absolutely nothing about it and always find excuses to excuse the indefensible.

It’s only a matter of time before your supporters kill someone. Just a matter of time. The hatred shown by your party reveals your own hatred. A man of love cannot lead hateful followers and hateful followers cannot follow a man of love. Love follows Love and hate follows hate.

Being a Pastor does not make you a man of God. Being a Pastor does not mean God is with you. Many Pastors have rapped and stolen and some have killed.

It is your heart that makes you a man of God, even without the title Pastor. It is only when you show Peace and Love that God is with you and in it. You have not shown this.

LEAKED VIDEO: Mawarire Reacts To Zhuwao’s Apology

The National Patriotic Front (NPF)’s spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire has spoken for the first time responding to his colleague, Patrick Zhuwao’s apology for the leaked video recorded conversation Zhuwao had with Jonathan Moyo on Monday.

The video was as claimed, accidentally filmed via the Twitter LIVE portal.

In his response, Mawarire said he will not accept Zhuwao’s apology simply because it is no apology. He said it even makes things worse.

Mawarire said, “I will accept an apology when an apology is made. I will not accept nonsense and pretend its an apology. What I saw is nonsense.

“It was a ploy to even amplify the attack in the so-called apology. The T-shirts multiplied by two.

“Where is the other 10 000 coming from”

In the live Video, the two are heard speaking continuously about a female donor who gave a substantial amount, and this money was for purchasing 20000 t-shirts for the party. However the money was allegedly stolen and the spokesman has been blamed for it.

Khupe Judge Strikes On Coltart For Napping, Fines Him $12k

Justice Francis Bere

By Paul Nyathi|Highly reputable Bulawayo law firm Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners has been caught napping in a case where they have been ordered to pay a client more than $12 000.

Former High Court Judge Justice Francis Bere, who is popular for handling the Thokozani Khupe MDC-T name case, found the law firm negligent in an application by Mr David Addenbrooke citing Messrs David Coltart, Josphat Tshuma and Norman James Pattison as defendants.

Bere has since been appointed to the Supreme Court.

Mr Addenbrooke sought an order directing the defendants to compensate him after the sale of his property following a default judgment entered against him due to an act of negligence by Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners.

Mr Addenbrooke, who was represented by Job Sibanda and Associates in the case, lost property worth $10 300 after it was sold in execution as a result of the bungling by the law firm.

In the ruling, Justice Bere ordered the defendants to compensate Mr Addenbrooke $10 300 including $2 507 being the legal fees he incurred in the lawsuit.

“In the result, the defendants are hereby found liable jointly and severally, the one paying the others absolved in the following amounts: (1) The sum of $10 300 being the proved cost of the plaintiff’s sold goods.

(2) The sum of $2 507 being legal fees paid by the plaintiff to Messrs Hwalima-Moyo Legal Practitioners

(3) Interest on the amounts granted from the date of summons to date of payment in full and costs of suit,” ruled the judge.

The plaintiff’s property which was auctioned included a Toyota Cressida and household property.

Mr Addenbrooke was in August 2011 involved in an accident in which one Ms Portia Mhere sustained injuries.

He was arrested, convicted of negligent driving and fined $400.

After Mr Addenbrooke’s conviction and sentence, Ms Mhere through her lawyers Majoko and Majoko Legal Practitioners approached the High Court seeking $15 000 compensation for the injuries she sustained during the accident. In her lawsuit, she cited Mr Addenbrooke as the defendant.

Mr Addenbrooke in turn engaged Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners to defend the claim against him.

According to papers before the court, despite having been paid for the services, Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners failed to properly handle the matter resulting in a default judgment against Mr Addenbrooke, which led to his property being attached.

Justice Bere condemned Mr Coltart and his partners for their conduct, saying they were liable for the “mess up” after assigning an inexperienced professional assistant to handle Mr Addenbrooke’s case.

He warned law firms against using junior lawyers to represent clients without supervision.

“The plaintiff’s criminal conviction bears no significance to the negligence of the defendants. The conduct of the defendants’ professional assistant coupled with the conduct of an advocate they had engaged made them (defendants) vulnerable.

“They cannot escape liability. Perhaps this case is a clarion call to all law firms that it is a monumental risk for them to allow inexperienced young lawyers to represent clients with little supervision. Young and inexperienced lawyers must be kept on a tight leash until such a time that they are able to go about on their own to represent clients on behalf of the law firm,” he said.

Chief Beaten Up By Own Mkwasha

An Esigodini man assaulted 88-year-old Chief Sigola who is also his father-in-law after he told him to vacate his homestead and build his own home.
Austin Sibanda (55) of Springvale Farm appeared before Gwanda provincial magistrate, Mr Maphios Moyo, facing two counts of physical abuse but the charges were withdrawn after plea.

In withdrawing the charges, Chief Sigola said he had considered that his daughter would face challenges if her husband was convicted.

“If this case goes further and my son-in-law is convicted that will mean my daughter and their children will suffer and I don’t want that to happen,” he said.

Prosecuting, Mr Takudzwa Mafudze said Sibanda assaulted Chief Sigola (Zaphania Sigola) twice in November last year.

“In November last year Chief Sigola approached his son-in-law who was staying with him and told him that he had to vacate the homestead and find a place of his own as he couldn’t continue supporting him and his family.

“This made Sibanda furious and he pushed Chief Sigola to the ground. On a later day Chief Sigola again told his son-in-law to vacate his homestead but he refused saying he was not going anywhere. Sibanda pushed Chief Sigola and he fell onto a concrete slab. He further tried to hit him with a log but other people restrained him,” he said.
Mr Mafudze said Chief Sigola sustained bruises as a result of the incident

Chiwenga Calls Zimbabweans To Shame Cynics

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga called on Zimbabweans to shame cynics by conducting free and fair elections.

Chiwenga said this while addressing a Mandava Stadium crowd in Zvishavane. This was during the official handover of the stadium to Zvishavane Town Council by Mimosa Mines. Chiwenga said, “Now as we go for those elections, first they must be peaceful, they must be held in a peaceful environment so we can achieve fairness so that no one cries foul.

“The ballot should do the talking, people should choose their leaders. Zimbabwe has come of age and we are not a violent people.

“If we conduct the elections in a free environment, we will shame those who think we are a violent country.”

100 Big Chinese Firms For Harare

A High-powered delegation from China, which includes representatives of more than 100 big Chinese companies, will be in the country next month to explore business and investment opportunities, an official has said.

President Mnangagwa’s recent State visit to China has renewed international investment interest in the country. The Asian giant has steadily improved its economic ties with Africa under the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation and Zimbabwe is one of the countries targeted for deeper co-operation with China.

Confederations of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) chief executive officer, Mr Clifford Sileya, said the proposed visit by the delegation would help cement bilateral ties and strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

“Communication has been received from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development advising of a Chinese Business Delegation visiting on 11 June 2018 as a follow-up to the mission by the State President early in the year,” he said. “Over 100 Chinese business people are expected to attend this Business Forum; and are keen to do business with Zimbabwean companies in various sectors. Attendance is strictly by invitation and only companies with clear and specific areas of interest will be accommodated.”

President Mnangagwa and President Xi managed to review the previous projects and look at the impediments that stalled progress in the past. The new comprehensive strategic partnership of co-operation agreed between the two leaders is expected to usher a new way of doing business.

Zimbabwe and China signed Memoranda of Understanding that will expedite the country’s socio-economic recovery under the new dispensation. The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Patrick Chinamasa, signed agreements on economic and technical co-operation between the Chinese government and Zimbabwe. China’s Minister of Commerce signed on behalf of his government.

The Finance Minister also signed more agreements on food assistance, the supply of high performance computers Phase 2, and availability of experts from China in various fields and the drilling of an additional 500 boreholes in Zimbabwe. A similar figure has already been drilled with assistance from China.

Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Dr Sibusiso Moyo signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Human Resources Development on behalf of the Public Service Commission. These were signed before President Mnangagwa and his host President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. – state media

Coltart’s Firm Slammed by Justice Bere

A Law firm in which MDC politician Mr David Coltart is a senior partner has been ordered to pay a client more than $12 000 after bungling a case.

A former High Court judge Justice Francis Bere blasted Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners where Mr Coltart is a senior partner, for “lacking” professionalism.

Justice Bere who is now a Supreme Court judge lashed out at Mr Coltart’s law firm in his judgment following an application by Mr David Addenbrooke citing Messrs David Coltart, Josphat Tshuma and Norman James Pattison as defendants.

Mr Addenbrooke sought an order directing the defendants to compensate him after the sale of his property following a default judgment entered against him due to an act of negligence by Webb, Low and Barry Legal Practitioners.

Mr Addenbrooke, who was represented by Job Sibanda and Associates in the case against Coltart’s law firm, lost property worth $10 300 after it was sold in execution as a result of the bungling by Mr Coltart’s law firm.

In a landmark ruling, Justice Bere ordered the defendants to compensate Mr Addenbrooke $10 300 including $2 507 being the legal fees he incurred in the lawsuit.

Mr Addenbrooke in turn engaged Mr Coltart’s law firm to defend the claim against him.

– state media

Chamisa Speaks On Khupe Attack

An incident involving a group of people accosting and shouting obscenities at our former colleague and Vice President, Thokozani Khupe has been brought to my attention.

I’m also aware that there is an impression that this incident was authored by the party. This is incorrect. I wish to state in very clear terms that whoever these people are, they do not represent me or the party.

The behaviour displayed in that video (in circulation on social media) is deplorable, wrong and is inconsistent with the values that we stand for as a democratic party. It has nothing to do with us and we condemn it in the strongest terms.

No one, not even a political competitor, should be subjected to that kind of disrespectful behaviour. As a party we have championed peaceful and non-violent, democratic change. That is our supreme guiding principle. We are committed to pursue this course and we will not allow or condone any behaviour which derails our mission.

We disassociate ourselves from this incident and where any of our members are identified as part of it, they have not acted with authorisation and disciplinary procedures will be activated.

We want a strong and prosperous Zimbabwe, one in which there is peace, tolerance and progress. We continue to urge Zimbabweans to participate peacefully in the election.
Finally, as I always do, let me urge those who have not yet registered to please take the current opportunity to do so.

Mliswa To Descend On Blue Roof To Grill Mugabe

Parliamentary portfolio (energy and mines) chairman, Temba Mliswa is to descend on former president Robert Mugabe’s private residence, Blue Roof, should he dodge his public appearance next week Monday, ZimEye can reveal.

The latest development came after the former head of state failed to appear before the August house to answer on his role and knowledge over the missing Diamonds with 15 billion dollars.

Speaking early morning Mliswa said Mugabe had been written to so that he appears this morning.

He said however the committee made a reconsideration, after it was determined that 9 a.m. is too early for him since during his time of work he used to start late.

Mugabe will now as an alternative appear next Monday at 2 p.m.

Speaking in a separate interview with a South African broadcaster, Mliswa said if he does not appear this coming time Parliament will resort to two things which will include summoning him, and lastly even entering his private residence and conducting the hearing over there.
