Bomb Explosion at War Vets Meeting

EXPLOSionAn explosion, believed to have been the result of a small bomb that went off in the basement of Harare Club Chambers — a popular meeting place in the capital for former liberation struggle fighters — has sent alarm bells ringing regarding those who were behind it and their motive.
Although there were no reports of casualties after the explosion went off in the wee hours of yesterday, causing minor damage to property, it raised eyebrows as it came amid Zanu PF’s worsening factional and succession wars, which have lately sucked in former freedom fighters.
A concerned Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) spokesperson, Douglas Mahiya, warned in an interview with the Daily News later that authorities should not take the explosion lightly, particularly given the tensions characterising the governing party.
“From afar, you can see that this (explosion) is a threat to comrades, who park their cars in the basement. So this should not be taken lightly at all,” Mahiya said.
Police confirmed that they were investigating the explosion at Harare Club Chambers, which is situated in the city centre, on the edge of Africa Unity Square that is often used by democracy activists to carry out their programmes and protests.
When the Daily News arrived at the scene mid-morning yesterday, a team of forensic experts was busy at work, sifting through the rubble — with people being advised to stay clear of the building.
Club Chambers has of late become a popular rendezvous for war veterans, with the ex-combatants now tending to hold most of their press conferences at the venue.
Earlier this month, disgruntled war veterans loyal to embattled Vice President Emmerson Mnangangwa wrote a strongly-worded letter to President Robert Mugabe — after meeting at the venue — challenging the nonagenarian on the continued purging of Zanu PF officials perceived to be close to the beleaguered VP.
As a sign of the extent of infighting among war veterans, disaffected former liberation struggle fighters, many of whom have been pivotal in keeping Mugabe and Zanu PF in power for the past 36 years, said last week that it was time the nonagenarian left office — in an unprecedented move that is set to shake Zanu PF down to its foundation.
Addressing journalists in Harare, the disgruntled ex-combatants — many of whom are signatories to the famous 1976 Mgagao declaration that catapulted Mugabe to the helm of Zanu — said they were withdrawing their support both to that epoch-making document, as well as to Mugabe.
The spokesman for these war veterans, Bernard Manyadza, whose war-time nom de guerre was Parker Chipoyera, said ex-combatants — the majority of whom are wallowing in abject poverty — had had enough of Mugabe’s “misrule”.
The tough-talking Manyadza, who was the head of instructors at the famous Mgagao Camp, also said the time had come for war veterans and fellow Zimbabweans to “rewrite history”.
In addition to vowing to do everything in their power to make Mugabe leave office, the disgruntled war vets also ominously threw their weight behind former Vice President Joice Mujuru, who is now leader of new political outfit, Zimbabwe People First (ZPF).
“At this juncture, it is particularly important for the people of Zimbabwe to know how …Mugabe first attained the reins of power as president of Zanu.
“It is us the war veterans who put Mugabe into power. In 1976 officers at Mgagao Training Camp in Tanzania, after consulting with others in Zambia and Mozambique, wrote a document denouncing the then president (of the party) Ndabaningi Sithole.
“The document, known as the Mgagao document, accused Sithole of abandoning the struggle to pursue his personal issues.
“After considering many factors, the war veterans agreed to endorse … Mugabe to succeed Sithole. In light of this, it is abundantly clear that … Mugabe was not elected, but selected to lead Zimbabwe’s armed struggle,” Manyadza said.
“We the war veterans who agreed to the authorship of the Mgagao document and appended our signatures to it now withdraw the mandate we gave to …Mugabe to be leader,” he added.
Manyadza said “real war veterans” remained marginalised while “opportunists” who currently occupied senior positions in government were “cowards” during the war of liberation.
Describing Mugabe’s meeting with a faction of war veterans a fortnight ago as a non-event, Manyadza — who was flanked by other “real” ex-combatants — said the Harare get-together had been “a missed opportunity” to put the 92-year-old leader under pressure.
“The illegitimate attendees are Zanu PF sycophants and bootlickers who can best be described as charlatans and opportunists.
“It was clear to everyone that most attendees were past the age of liberation fighters, but some old villagers who were paid to attend and ululate and sing praises to Mugabe,” he thundered.
“Mugabe is a habitual rigger who has rigged his own indaba,” Manyadza said, adding that the late struggle icon, Herbert Chitepo will be turning in his grave at the sight of how the party that he led effectively had now turned rogue.
“Chitepo insisted that there never was and never will be a living hero. He refused anyone to say ‘pamberi naChitepo or nani zvake (forward with Chitepo or any other person)’. He remained firm on this principle as he knew that all humans were fallible.
“Chairman Chitepo argued that if you say ‘pamberi neni, ko mangwana ndikatadza wozoti kudiyi (Chitepo discouraged hero-worshipping of individuals),” Manyadza added.
He also said that it was unfortunate that everyone who had challenged Mugabe within Zanu PF thus far had been purged from the former liberation movement.
“…even our service chiefs who have demonstrated absolute loyalty to the nation and their commander-in-chief have had their loyalty and allegiance questioned, firstly by the First Lady, and later by their commander-in-chief. This has set a very bad precedence.
“Again … the manner in which . . . Mujuru was removed from holding government and party positions at the instigation of Mugabe’s wife who had no political position at the time cannot be accepted or tolerated.
“Mugabe as the sole centre of power unilaterally makes ruinous decisions that have sadly brought life in the once prosperous nation to a standstill,” Manyadza added.
While the country’s opposition has routinely called for Mugabe to either resign or retire, there are now also growing calls for him to step down from within Zanu PF ranks.
Only last week, respected party elder Cephas Msipa said keeping Mugabe in power was tantamount to “punishing” the increasingly frail nonagenarian, further urging the long-ruling leader to retire immediately.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily News, he said Mugabe’s 56 years in politics were long enough for a “normal human being to hang the boots”.

Kasukuwere Suspends Harare Mayor

Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere has suspended Harare Mayor Ben Manyenyeni over the new Town Clerk battle.
Manyenyeni confirmed the development this afternoon, saying he had been suspended by Kasukuwere for alleged disobedience and insurbodination.
“Just to let you know that I have received a letter from the minister that I am suspended both as councilor and mayor with immediate effect,” Manyenyeni said.
MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai said today his party was taking Kasukuwere to court over his interference in the running of Harare.

Tsvangirai Slaps Kasukuwere

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai is slapping Local government minister Saviour Kasukuwere approaching the courts seeking for an interdiction against the dissolving of Harare City Council and replacing it with a commission.
Kasukuwere on Tuesday threatened to dissolve the MDC-T dominated Harare city council over the appointment of a new town clerk James Mushore.
Harare city council last month appointed Mushore as the capital city’s chief administrator after a rigorous selection process, but Kasukuwere reversed the appointment.
Harare mayor Bernard Manyenyeni went ahead to offer Mushore a contract and the banker has since been reporting for duty, in defiance of Kasuwere’s order.
Addressing journalists in Harare Wednesday MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai said they will be approaching the courts
“In view of the Minister’s threats to the Council in Harare, the MDC is mounting an urgent application to the High Court for an interdict to stop the Minister’s action and protect the elected Council from his predatory actions,”said Tsvangirai.
The MDC-T leader said that they are happy that previous attempts by Kasukuwere to frustrate his councillors were dismissed by the courts.
“We acknowledge that the judiciary has been consistent on the issue of non-interference by the Minister in the affairs of elected councils”.
Last year Kasukuwere suspended the entire Gweru council and his decision was shot down by the courts.
The local government minister however stuck to his guns and defied court order.
“The MDC is sick and tired of Zanu PF leaders who consistently brush the new Constitution aside as “just a piece of paper” and continue to act as if the country did not have a new dispensation.
“The basis of all progress and stability is founded on the rule of law, the independence of the Judiciary and adherence to the precepts of the Constitution. No State can operate effectively without adherence to such principles and rebuilding confidence in Zimbabwe is critically dependent on this issue,” he said.

Mugabe Jets into US with Oppah

Robert Mugabe jetted into New York yesterday with Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri.
President Mugabe who was flanked by a hoard of security agents, says he travelled to the US to attend a climate change mitigation and the Sustainable Development Goals function at the UN headquarters.
He was flanked by Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi
Mugabe was met at the JFK International Airport by the man who could have easily acted on his behalf at the meeting, Ambassador to the United Nations Fredrick Shava, Minister Counsellor Vusumuzi Ntonga, Air Commodore Simon Nyowani and several other embassy staff.
Mugabe is set to officiate a speech while co-chairing the debate together with UN General Assembly president Mr Mogens Lykketoft.
He will then address a plenary on the theme, ‘Action at all Levels: National Implementation’.
Tomorrow Mugabe will join other leaders for the Signature Ceremony of the Paris Agreement, which will be presided over by France in its capacity as COP21 host where the agreement was struck and adopted last year.
The Paris Agreement was adopted by all 196 Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change at COP21 in Paris on December 12, 2015.

US Donates Another $20 million Towards Starving Zimbabweans

In response to growing food insecurity in Zimbabwe, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Wednesday gave an additional $20 million to Zimbabwe.
The funding which has been channelled through the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) brings the total U.S. funding for drought relief since June 2015 to $55 million.
In a statement, USAID -Zimbabwe Mission Director Stephanie Funk, said they will continue assisting Zimbabwe until the end of the drought season.
“The United States is committed to supporting the people of Zimbabwe during these difficult times,” he said.
“We are committed to working with WFP to meet the immediate food needs of vulnerable Zimbabweans, reduce suffering, and ensure families cope with the negative effects of the drought”.
The extended donation is going to support WFP’s Lean Season Assistance program, which provides monthly targeted food rations or cash transfers for food insecure people in the hardest hit districts of Zimbabwe.
WFP’s Lean Season Assistance usually operates from October through March, during the time between harvests when food can be scarce.
The WFP Country Director, Eddie Rowe said, “The generous additional $20 million contribution from USAID will allow WFP to continue food assistance for 450,000 people in 12 districts over the next six months”.
“The UN is grateful to the United States for answering our call for additional funding to scale up life-saving activities to reach the growing number of food insecure individuals,” said UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Bishow Parajuli.  “These funds will help increase our relief efforts to reach those most affected by the drought and other vulnerable groups.”

Makandiwa, Magaya Prophecy to “Boost Zimbabwe’s Cash, Economy” in 2016

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance ministries leader, Walter Magaya and his United Families International Church counterpart, Emmanuel Makandiwa say Zimbabwe will in the year 2016 have neither depression nor sorrow.
The two controversial preachers further claim the year 2016 is one of economic boom.
Magaya and Makandiwa made these predictions in their New Year crossover events four months ago on January 31st, saying the change in Zimbabwe’s fortunes will see an “overflow and abundance” and “a great harvest”.
The two preachers, who command large followings at their separate church gatherings, told their followers that, “God has something special for his people in 2016.”
“God said to me, 2016 is the year of overflow and abundance,” Magaya told multitudes of his followers gathered at his Waterfalls Church in Harare, prompting them to break into song and dance.
In Chitungwiza, it was almost a similar message from Makandiwa as he declared 2016 a year of “great harvest.”
“This is a year of great harvest as there will be no depression and sorrows,” Makandiwa said.
“I know you have suffered enough individually and as a country.
“You have sacrificed a lot and the Lord has told me that 2016 is a year of great harvest.
“Whatever you do, great harvest, in your marriages, great harvest in your finances, great harvest and all you wish for it shall come your way.
“The devil has no chance this year in your life. You shall reap in multitudes. Those who don’t know shall ask why; tell them it is a year of great harvest.”
Magaya said before he made the declaration about 2016, he had spent the greater part of December interceding and seeking God’s plans. He travelled to Nigeria for confirmation of his prophecy from his spiritual father, TB Joshua.
“I am not looking at your situation, you are listening to the declaration, God said to me, overflow into your country, overflow in your life, overflow in your marriage, overflow in your finances,” he said as the church burst into song and dance.
“This year, ask your neighbour; how big is your garage? How big is your house? How big is your wardrobe? Because it is a year of overflow,” he shouted.
“I went to ask my spiritual father and he confirmed this. Yes, I know we are going through tough times as a country, but this year, it is a year of overflow.
“I asked him [TB Joshua], my father, this is what the Lord is telling me, but look at our situation as a country, as Africa, is this true? He said it is true.”
The crossover services at both churches were attended by thousands of people drawn from across the country and beyond, including government ministers, legislators and diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe, among others.
At PHD ministries, congregates were treated to song and dance by Matthias Mhere, Blessing Shumba and others.
As the new year approached, Magaya took to the stage, ordering that all lights be switched off and everyone use an “anointed” candle to “light their lives into 2016”.
The candle light ceremony saw the entire arena being covered with little lights from thousands of candles as the electricity-powered lights were switched off for 15 minutes. –

Dzamara Walk Through Hot CIO FireWall

Dear Editor.
I would like to ask Mr Patson Dzamara to explain to us how he managed to walk through the impenetrable CIO firewall at the national sports stadium, in front of all those armed soldiers, and why for a whole 2 minutes uninterrupted time, purposefully cast the cardboard inscription in front of his camera he had left at the terraces and not towards President Mugabe who must get the message “Bring Itai Back” ? Why?- this is really intriguing. It is also clear from photos that he was asked out of the place by a clerk in the Ministry of Information not a cop and not a CIO or a soldier. Yes we are told of stories that he was later beaten up; they claimed at first it was severe assault, but later changed saying that he was now ok. Furthermore the documented medical evidence is still missing. After coming from Harare Central, he then writes a newspaper article he signs as “Dr” Patson Dzamara – we now know that he purchased that paper with hard money.

ZRP Cop, Soldier Collapse During Independence Speech

Poorly Fed Mugabe Officers Collapse During Independence Speech Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| There was commotion here on Independence day when a cop and a soldier fainted during Masvingo State Minister Shuvai Ben Mahofa’s speech delivery at Mucheke Stadium.
Despite frantic efforts by both the army and the police to conceal the matter, members of the public were all but stunned by the incident.
ZimEye.com was informed of how members the uniformed force spent hours standing while they had not eaten anything resulting in the embarrassing incident.
The scenery happened around 2pm when the two officers suddenly collapsed one after the other as Mahofa proceeded with her marathon speech.
It has been reported the food supplies at army barracks and police camps have been drastically reduced while the duties for both forces are expected to carry out remain the unchanged.
Although Masvingo Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa was not readily available to comment on the matter, residents of Mucheke suburb who went to the stadium said they witnessed the incident before their eyes.
“We were surprised by what happened. For the first time in my life, I saw two officers falling down. It is unheard of, yet very embarrassing, “said a resident of the R section of Mucheke suburb.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the army did not materialise as a junior officer quickly warned: “You will be in trouble with such issues my friend. Such things are highly sensitive.”

Tsvangirai Mayor Exonerates Mugabe

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| MDC-T Mayor for the City of Masvingo, Councillor Hubert Fidze, stunned all and sundry when he vindicated President Robert Mugabe after local residents exerted pressure on him to confront the nonagenarian over unpaid government bills.
Fidze shocked residents and stakeholders at a recent meeting in Masvingo when he defended Mugabe saying the government was not to blame for their failure to service the huge debt.
Residents of the ancient city demanded that Fidze and his delegation of councillors should confront Mugabe over the unpaid government bills said to be pegged at a shocking $12 million dollars.
In latest figures seen by ZimEye.com, the Zimbabwe National army owes the city council $8 million in unpaid water bills while the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services owe the city council $2,5 and $2 million respectively.
The city council has stepped up efforts to disconnect water supplies for residents with unpaid bills yet the local authority is scared of confronting the respective government departments. After being besieged by local Residents, Fidze said there was need to understand the government had no money to pay the bills.
“Why do you put pressure on us ?You must understand that President Mugabe’s government has no money at the moment. Some of your demands are far fetched. You have to keep on paying your bills. If you stop paying council will collapse. Why do you have to focus on what others are doing? Let us be realistic,” said Fidze.
Fidze uttered the controversial remarks after angry residents urged him to confront Mugabe in order to retrieve millions of dollars owed to the local authority by the government.
The irate residents said the council should immediately inform Mugabe about the unpaid bills adding the government contributed to the poor service delivery by the city council.
It is understood Fidze is in trouble with his bosses in the MDC-T after he allegedly sanctioned council’s donation towards Mugabe’s birthday bash in February. Party hardliners perceive he is sympathetic to Mugabe.

ZRP Cop in Hot Soup for $30 Bribe

A TRAFFIC cop appeared in court yesterday for soliciting a $30 bribe from commuter omnibus operators plying the Chiremba Road route.
Rangarirai Chigome (42) allegedly demanded $30 from each commuter omnibus driver to allow them a seven-day unintterupted passage. He is charged with criminal abuse of office as a public officer.
Chigome was granted $100 bail and remanded to May 9. He was warned against interferring with witnesses.
The State withdrew charges against five other traffic cops who were facing similar allegations. These are John Shereni, Walter Makahamadze, Wonder Zvirevo, Conec Tembo and Ezekiel Nyungu.
Prosecuting, Ms Dora Moyo alleged that on April 14 at around 8pm Police Internal Investigations received a tip-off that Highway Patrol cops deployed along Chiremba Road were demanding bribes from commuter omnibuses.
It was alleged the officers demanded $30 from commuter omnibus operators to allow them uninterrupted passage for seven days. Those who did not comply with the bribe would be arrested for various traffic offences, the court heard.
A trap was set the following day at around 2pm. It is alleged that Chigome was approached by Emmanuel Mapiye and Inspector Wilson Chiwanda posing as commuter omnibus drivers.
Mapiye allegedly negotiated $30 for free passage of his commuter omnibus for a week.
Chigome agreed and was given $30 trap money by Mapiye.
It is alleged that Chigome endorsed the registration number of Mapiye’s commuter omnibus ABZ 6331 at the back of the Z69(j) book before releasing him.
Chigome was immediately arrested.

Xenophobia Hits Zambia: Zimbabweans Flee

LOOT
Foreign nationals, among them Zimbabweans, were forced to seek refuge at police stations in parts of the Zambian capital Lusaka following what was seen as an outbreak of afrophobic attacks on foreigners.
The attacks were sparked by reports that foreigners had been arrested in connection with alleged ritual killings.
This sparked riots which saw locals going on a looting spree of mostly foreign-owned shops and attacking foreigners especially Rwandan nationals.
Zimbabwean nationals resident in Lusaka sent distress calls to relatives back home saying they had sought refuge at various police posts in western parts of Lusaka.
The most affected areas include George, Lilanda, Chunga and Zingalume in the west while in the north, parts of Matero, Chaisa, Kabanana, Mandevu and Chipata compound were affected.
“Vehama Zambia yaoma, maforeigners takahwanda izvozvi. Yakaitika kuSouth Africa yaveko kuno varikurova pamwe nokuuraya (The situation in Zambia is now bad. The same scenario that took place in South Africa is now happening here),” said someone from Kabanana.
Foreigners reported random assaults. The Zambian Home Affairs Minister Mr Davis Mwila issued a statement yesterday giving assurances that police would handle the situation.
“Today has been a very sad day for our country. It is a day on which some criminal elements in Lusaka with criminal intent took advantage of the pain and grief we have all felt over the suspected ritual killings that have rocked the city of Lusaka since March 16, 2016,” he said.
Mr Mwila said the situation had been hijacked by criminal elements who took advantage and looted foreign-owned businesses. The riots are said to have been sparked by false reports of the release of a suspected ritual murderer.
However, the minister said the man had been arrested for conduct likely to disturb peace contrary to reports that he was facing allegations of murder.
At least 62 shops had been looted by yesterday while 256 suspects were arrested for looting. Looters targeted food stuffs such as mealie meal, sugar, bread, cooking oil and other essential commodities.
The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Country Representative Ms Laura Lo Castro, expressed concern at the attack on foreigners and refugees.
“We would like to urge Zambians to continue maintaining the unblemished high reputation, respected by the international community, of being hospitable to foreigners, including refugees,” she said in a statement.
She commended Zambia’s response in a bid to contain the violence and encouraged continued efforts in restoring stability in the affected areas.
She, however, noted that many refugees had been calling on the UNHCR to express their fears and share information about loss of property.
“It is very concerning and sad to hear these news of violence against brothers and sisters of nearby countries. While we appreciate the efforts made so far, UNHCR is calling on the government to continue to do all it can to prevent any future incidents,’’ Ms Castro said.
Efforts to get a comment from the Zimbabwe Embassy in Zambia to establish the extent to which Zimbabwean nationals were affected were fruitless last night. state media

Mugabe Flies Off to New York with Oppah Muchinguri

opp
graphic

Robert Mugabe last night hit the skies once again this time for New York, US. Mugabe flew away with controversial Manicaland supremo, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Mugabe hit into the skies without his wife, Grace.
In another taxpayer funded unnecessary trip that his US based ambassadors (three of them) could have easily stood in for him, Mugabe announced his trip is so that he can make an appearance for a ceremony of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
The Paris Agreement, in which all 196 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change member states agreed to work to limit global temperature rise to below two degrees Celsius, was adopted at the COP21 indaba in Paris on December 12 last year.
To keep the global spotlight on climate change mitigation in the wake of COP21, United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon invited representatives of all member states to sign the Paris Agreement at a special ceremony scheduled for Friday at the United Nations Headquarters.
Climatologists contend implementation of the Paris Agreement is essential for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, and provides a roadmap for climate change mitigation through reduced carbon emissions.
The UNFCCC is an international environmental treaty negotiated at the Rio Earth Summit in Brazil in June 1992 with the aim of stabilising greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that does not pose a danger to life on earth.
Greenhouse gases, namely water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone, absorb and retain heat in the atmosphere that at higher concentrations are harmful to the viability of life on earth.
Though ground-breaking, the UNFCCC treaty did not set binding limits on greenhouse gas emissions for individual countries and contains no enforcement mechanisms, an anomaly that the Paris Agreement seeks to rectify through the adoption of a cocktail of legally binding and non-binding provisions on climate change mitigation to succeed the largely unsuccessful Kyoto Protocol.
Developing countries like Zimbabwe that have agro-based economies depend on rain-fed agriculture and have a majority of their population, over 70 percent, living in rural and farming areas, keenly feel the impact of climate change.
And the El Nino-induced drought that has led to massive crop failure countrywide testifies to the vulnerability of the developing world to the vagaries of climate change.
Mugabe has since declared the 2015 /6 season a state of disaster and Government is mobilising food relief for vulnerable communities countrywide.
Zimbabweans experienced, first hand, the effects of global warming during last year’s heatwave that broke decades-old temperature records throughout the country and that saw some road surfaces melting and livestock dying due to heat stress.
Climate change has also manifested in reduced water inflows from northern Zambia, which feeds the mighty Zambezi River, a development that has reduced the hydro-power station’s generation capacity.
As such Zimbabwe and other developing countries are keen on successful climate change mitigation, particularly as experts contend that global warming is impacting on sub-Saharan Africa more than any other region because of its over-dependence on rain-fed agriculture.
Zimbabwe and other developing countries, insist that the industrialised north is not taking a fair share of the burden of climate change given their contribution to the phenomenon and should thus lead by example by cutting emissions and also providing financial support to poorer nations as stated in the Climate Change Convention.
Experts warn that global warming is already halfway to the two degree mark, a possible tipping point that may lead to the melting of glaciers, rising sea and ocean levels, disappearance of some islands and archipelagos, increasing droughts, among other ills.
Mugabe was seen off at Harare International Airport by Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, Ministers Christopher Mushohwe, Ignatius Chombo, Sydney Sekeramayi, Kembo Mohadi, Joram Gumbo, Saviour Kasukuwere and Miriam Chikukwa, Service Chiefs and senior Government officials. – State Media

Lizzy Nyamhotsi – the Zim nurse who supports her family in remote Australian mining town

Lizzy has a dream. And that dream is to give both herself and her family a better life.
Leaving her home of Zimbabwe in 2007 to move to Australia for employment opportunities, she came to the Queensland town of Middlemount with her husband and three children. She successfully found a job in the mining industry as an occupational health nurse, and with her kids happily settled in the local school, she’s happy she’s in a position where she can provide for her family both in Australia and Zimbabwe.
“I send money home to Zimbabwe to just basically help my family – so my immediate family and my extended family,” Lizzy says.

She regularly sends funds to pay for essentials such as food, school fees and household items. But in times of an emergency, she’s been fortunate enough to make money transfers that can be received by her family in a matter of minutes.
“My grandmother was not feeling well, she was in a critical condition at the hospital and they needed some money for her to get treated – so I had to send money immediately,” she explains.
But being able to provide for her family isn’t just something she wants to do in the short-term. She can also support them in the long-term, such as paying for her brother’s school fees. Thanks to her, he’s now in South Africa working as a teacher.
However, her options of sending money were limited. With previous services being extortionately expensive and inaccessible in certain regions of Zimbabwe, she needed a resource that she could truly rely on.
“I used all sorts of things to send money back home,” Lizzy explains. “I’ve tried using just my normal bank account which always didn’t work, somehow the money just used to come back to our account.
“It didn’t work for everyone because not everyone has access to banks where I come from. I’ve also used a traditional money transfer service but their charges – just ridiculous, they are too much”
While she experienced problems first hand in sending money, she was also fully aware of the difficulties her family had in receiving the funds.
“Where I come from it’s really rural, with no electricity, no water supply, no nothing – and there are no big shops there. There’s no money transfer agents there so if you send the money, they’ll have to travel to a big town to get the money,” she adds.
But then a close friend of hers introduced her to WorldRemit, and since then has made this her sole source of sending funds.
“She basically just said ‘you need to use this new service of sending money to Zimbabwe’, and I tried it and I liked it because I didn’t have to go outside my house to do it,” Lizzy says. “I just did it on the computer and it was easy, it was fast and they got their money within minutes.”
Another aspect Lizzy finds helpful is the ability to use not just her computer, but her mobile device too.
“I would use my iPad or my mobile phone just because I don’t always have my computer with me sometimes. I’ll be at work and wanting to send money, so I’ll always have my mobile and it’s easy to use,” she adds.
While she may be many miles away in Australia, using WorldRemit has helped her maintain a closer connection than ever with Zimbabwe.
“I feel very close to my family because I feel as if I’m able to just pass the money using my hands to them, because at one point I was talking to my father on the phone and then he – I was sending him money at the same time – and then he told me ‘oh I got the notification that you sent me money’.
“So that made me feel very close to him actually,” she says with a smile.

MUJURU: Baseless Accusations Against My Hubby

FB_IMG_1461095911432
BASELESS ACCUSATIONS AGAINST MY HUSBAND WILL NEVER WIPE OFF HIS LEGACY:JTR MUJURU
………I SHALL NEVER FORGET HIS SACRIFICE
We still celebrate the true heroes that led us to our independence, even if each year we are having less and less on what to celebrate, since many have turned their back on the true principles of the struggle. It has become a public secret that we all know what happened to my husband. A minority of people might try to drag his name in the mud and level-up baseless accusations against him but what he achieved can’t be dragged out of his legacy. My husband aiva munhu weVanhu. My family especially my children understand and know the kind of man that was called General Solomon Mujuru. Those who had the chance to meet and interact with him , will tell you his cheerful laugh and jokes. Just like everyone else he was not afraid to attend public events alone. He never applied for a bodyguard or driver saying “l will protect myself”. Nomatter how much they may try to remove him from the history of Zimbabwe, my family and l shall never forget his sacrifice.
We shall never forget.

Queen Elizabeth Congratulates Zimbabwe

queenBritain’s Queen Elizabeth yesterday wished Zimbabwe a happy independence and wished her former colony best wishes in the coming year.
The 90-year-old British monarch sent the message to the people of Zimbabwe from Buckingham Palace yesterday, the day the southern African country gained its independence from British colonial rule 36 years ago.
The Queen, who has entered the record books as Britain’s longest-reigning monarch after surpassing the reign of her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria, did not acknowledge Zimbabwe president, Robert Mugabe, in her statement, in an uncharacteristic move by a head of State wishing well for another country.
“It gives me great pleasure to send the people of Zimbabwe my congratulations on the celebration of your National Day, together with my best wishes for the coming year,” Queen Elizabeth II said in a terse statement.
Mugabe, 92, who has ruled Zimbabwe since 1980, likes the British Queen who has been on the throne for 63 years, but not so much the politicians at 10 Downing Street.
In 2009, Mugabe, Africa’s oldest president, was stripped of a knighthood conferred on him by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994.
The Zimbabwean leader accuses the former colonial power of interfering in his country’s domestic affairs.
The Queen’s message is significant as relations between the two countries have entered a new phase, with Britain and the European Union suspending most sanctions first imposed on Zimbabwe in 2002, in protest against human rights abuses, electoral theft, and violations of democracy under Mugabe’s rule.
In broadcast to a packed and carefully orchestrated ceremony in a football stadium in the capital, Harare, to mark 36 years of independence, Mugabe said he will not brook any interference in his country’s domestic affairs.
“We should always remember that our independence did not come on a silver platter,” Mugabe thundered yesterday.
Many people arrived in buses hired by government to ferry residents of poor suburbs to the festivities, while others walked to the Chinese-built stadium in a nation that remains all but bankrupt and isolated internationally, and life for most Zimbabweans remains paralysed.
The commemorations come as the governing Zanu PF battles to ease mounting internal political tensions that threaten its stability and to revive an economy ravaged by nearly two decades of economic and political crisis. Daily News

NRZ Bosses Buy Top Range Cars as Workers Go 15 Months No Salaries

NRZ-workers wallow in poverty
NRZ-workers wallow in poverty
Zimbabwe’s main labour federation has approached the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to intervene in the pay dispute between the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and its 6,000 workers who are on strike over non-payment of salaries for over 15 months.
This came as an investigation revealed a high-level mass-looting scandal before the salary slug began, as bosses acquired top of the range vehicles worth more than US$1 million – looting the company’s resources in order for the management team to walk away with as many goods as possible, five years ago.
The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) wants the ILO to mediate in talks with government, the 100 percent shareholder in the troubled rail monopoly, to pay the salaries.
NRZ workers, who went on strike on March 29, say NRZ owes a total $87,5 million in unpaid salaries from January 2015 to March this year. Workers have rejected an offer by NRZ to pay part of their salaries for January this year, prompting the company to approach government to declare the action illegal.
In a letter to the ILO last week, ZCTU told the United Nations agency that the crisis at NRZ was caused by “misplaced priorities (and) both government and management incompetence to turn around the parastatal.”
“The dispute is of nonpayment of wages for the period January 2015 to March 2016, a period of 15 months. The company owes about $87,5 million in salary arrears. On 29 March 2016 the workers engaged on a strike to force the employer to pay their salaries which are overdue,” said ZCTU secretary-general Japhet Moyo in the letter.
“This failure to pay salaries has also affected the trade unions in terms of subscriptions not remitted to the unions. The unions are now incapacitated to conduct their activities. Following the strike, management have invoked the law by approaching the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare to issue a show cause order whose effect is to terminate a legitimate strike and may have consequences of dismissing employees who have a legitimate cause.”
He requested the ILO to approach government and demand full payment of salaries to NRZ workers.
He said the ILO must also demand that workers do not become victimised for undertaking the industrial action.
“The government must not invoke its law to deal with the striking workers, which law is inconsistent with the Constitution of Zimbabwe and principles of freedom of association and protection of the rights to organise, to which it is a party. The government must also ensure trade union subscriptions are remitted to allow these organisations to function properly,” Moyo said.

March inflation at -2.31pct

Zimbabwe’s consumer prices fell by 2,31 percent on an annualised basis in March, compared to a 2.22 percent decline in February, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) said last Friday.
On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.12 percent compared with a 0.10 percent decline in the previous month, Zimstat said. -The Source

Mugabe Choreographs Hunger-Mangoma

Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe President, Elton Mangoma says the hunger and economic turbulence which the country is experiencing, were choreographed by Zanu PF through the chaotic land reform the Mugabe administration embarked on in 2000.
The former MDC-T deputy treasurer said for the situation to be corrected and for the country to once again become the bread basket of the region, Zimbabwe needs a $200 million National Food security fund.
“This national food security can be achieved through a budget of $200 million and 10% of the land (200 000 hectares) …being put under maize production. Suitable land will be selected and matched with suitable skills to achieve a minimum yield of eight (8) tonnes per hectare. This $200 million will be disbursed as loans through banks,” Mangoma told reporters in Harare Tuesday.
The RDZ leader who publicly said that he was not against the land reform programme, challenged government to compensate former white commercial farmers.
“This will allow us as a country to get assistance from development partners because we would have closed the land dispute amicably,” Mangoma said
“It is unfortunate that Zanu PF wants to see people suffering and it has achieved its goal of impoverishing everyone through this exercise which was haphazardly conducted and remains on the international agenda”.
Mangoma said Zanu PF should stop politicising the land reform.
The country since 2000 when it evicted former white commercial farmers, has been failing to feed its people.
Zimbabwe which was once the bread basket of the regions, is now a basket case which now relies on food hand outs from the same nations it used to feed.

PICTURE:Dzamara After Police Beating

DZAMARA BEATEN AFTER ONE MAN PROTEST
The brother of missing Itai Dzamara has today been beaten up by security agents over a one-man protest he mounted demanding Itai’s return.
The group Occupy Africa Unity Square explained what happened. “Having entered the stadium, he found a piece of cardboard and wrote a message asking where his brother is. After the President’s speech, he went with it to the VIP tent and stood silently, holding his placard. Dr Jonathan Moyo was the first to spot him and looked nervous and jittery… perhaps the reaction of a man feeling guilty? It took a good two minutes for security to react, an indication of lack of professionalism. After all, if it hadn’t been a peaceful citizen, who knows what could have happened?
The security details dragged Patson off the turf towards the bleachers, and once under them, forced him to kneel on his own feet in an uncomfortable position. They had already started beating him with their fists and one baton stick, ten plain-clothes security agents on one unarmed civilian who was exercising his Constitutional right to demonstrate peacefully. They told him they were in hot soup, in trouble because of him…. when it was their own incompetence, further demonstrated by their lack of discipline. One said, “You want to know where your brother is? Let’s take him to join his brother!”, confirming our suspicion that the State has known where Itai is all along.
They forced his mouth open and poured bottle after bottle of water down his throat, forcing him to remain in position by hitting and kicking him. One who appeared to be a ZANU PF member rather than a ‘professional’ security officer broke a glass bottle, intent on using it. Thankfully, a senior official arrived and stopped him, although the former did kick Patson before recognizing him.
Eventually, he was bundled into a twincab and driven to Harare Central Police Station. Only on the way there did they ask him why he did what he did.
At the police station they continued force-feeding him water at the CIO section. They started interrogating him. Patson told them “Be quiet, and I will explain to you and answer all your questions.” He explained to them his position, that he had exhausted all other avenues and the State had not been forthcoming in the matter of his brother, driving him to this desperate act. Finally a senior member of the Law and Order section came and they spoke, having met before. Patson was told to control himself, because he is causing trouble for them. He was then allowed to make a phone call.
ZLHR member Advocate Mtisi and other comrades attended and made sure Patson received medical attention. Thankfully, he has no fractures or internal bleeding, although his ankle is sprained in addition to the bruising.

Poor Charamba needs God not Zanu-PF

By Jealousy Mawarire | After reading the latest Radar column in the Herald of 16 April 2016, I really felt sorry for its writer, one George Charamba. If there is one thing that George Charamba should know, it is that God, not Zanu-PF or its god President Robert Mugabe, “blesses his people with peace” (Psalm 29:11).
Some of us who have known God and accepted Jesus Christ in our lives have no need to worry, for we know that true happiness is found in the Lord our God. He has blessed us with real peace. The sooner Charamba, whether in his form as Radar or in his Nathaniel Manheru effigy, knows this, the better for his body and soul.
The Bible tells us to “trust in the Lord, not in chariots and horses” (Psalm 20:7) because the Lord God is the source of peace. On the contrary, those that trust in chariots and horses, those that trust in His Excellency, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces and lay their lives for his continued misrule will forever not know any peace for peace is not found through bootlicking mere mortals but through trust in the Lord our God.
They can never walk the streets of Harare without worrying about public reprisals. They cannot spend the money they loot in peace because they know it is stolen. They can always build houses but will never sleep in them peacefully, and others, as the Bible tells us, “shall betroth a wife and another man shall lie with her” (Deuteronomy 28:30).
It is, therefore, preposterous and equally hypocritical, for these troubled people like Radar Charamba, to then look at some of us and think we are not at peace. I liken that behaviour to a situation where a Ngomahuru or Engutsheni inmate thinks his benefactor, the one who would have come to make donations to the institution, is actually more mentally deranged than him.
Is it not ironic that people like us who, under the auspices of Zim PF and under the leadership of Dr Joice Mujuru, are fighting for the freedom of those that are in bondage, like Radar Charamba, can be mistaken for being troubled?
We might not be as rich as the looters of our national coffers like Radar Charamba and his PSMAS partners in crime, but we are certainly managing by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ who has always been our provider and in whose bosom we find our being and happiness.
Those who are accused of looting national assets, state medical aid societies, are the ones who should be troubled. I suppose that it is really traumatic for the same looters when they fail to repatriate the loot that they stashed in foreign banks back to Zimbabwe because the US anti-money laundering and Organisation of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) guidelines are making it almost impossible.
I understand that it is very traumatic as well, when one cannot afford to fall ill inside their own country because they know that if they fall sick here, there is no proper medical care because the money that was supposed to fund their medical bill, and the bills of thousands pensioners including war veterans, was looted by none other than them. Consequently they have to fall sick when they go outside the country on national business because, under those circumstances, they can use national resources, contingency budgets that most of those on Mugabe’s foreign entourage often loot.
It is a fact, Radar Charamba, that the ones who have no peace are those that are employed to defend a crumbling regime, to defend and come up with spins for a boss cum god who falls in public and sleeps on duty with astonishing frequency. Those whose job is to pretend that their boss is as fit as a Mallee bull and mentally as sound as a 28 year-old yet he reads stale speeches at the opening of parliament are the real troubled souls among us.
Equally, those employed to convince all and sundry that there are no factions in Zanu-PF when everyone who cares to know is fully aware that Zanu-PF is now a crumbling façade with nothing except yawning emptiness behind it are those that run the risk of mental derangement.
It is a fact that being employed to lie that civil servants are going to get their bonuses when the national coffers are as dry and empty as a Zanu-PF manifesto can make one lose their peace.
The several state media journalists suffering from cognitive dissonance as a result of being forced to write lies when they know the real truth are the ones who are troubled. One only need to ask people like Webster Shamu to understand how traumatic it is for journalists to be forced to write lies about situations they know the truth about, situations that are part of their lived realities.
Those that work in the ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services and suffering from post-traumatic disorders as a result of years of abuse by a departed former state president are the ones that we should pray for.
Such characters, now suffering from post-traumatic disorders as a result of violent vacillations between being a Mr and a Mrs, are the ones that we should really feel pity for. They are the ones that know no peace and should therefore come to God and repent of their sins and then join Zimbabwe People First and fight for their freedom and the emancipation of their children’s children.
However, it is normally the case that victims are never aware of the oppression that has become part of their lives. Even during the war of liberation, some oppressed young blacks became collaborators with the Smith regime (Vatengesi) while others did it under Bishop Abel Muzorewa’s army (Madzakutsaku).
It is now the same with people like Radar Charamba who fights everyone whom he thinks might upset his applecart. Anyone who challenges the corrupt, brutal, oppressive and directionless Zanu-PF government quickly courts the ire of Charamba and he takes the challenge personally, most probably to make up for his past errors of commission when he did not join the liberation struggle and chose to be on the other side when patriots and nationalists of the time chose to leave the country and prosecute the war of liberation under the auspices of Zipra and Zanla.
It is typical Charamba style to metamorphose into one columnist or the other when he seeks to attack his perceived enemies. In 2009 when I, and a group of 3 other journalists approached the courts against a decision to bar us from covering the Comesa summit in Victoria Falls, Charamba, masquerading as a “Special Correspondent” chose to abuse his position at the Ministry of Information by writing in the Herald all sorts of lies about me and the other journalists with whom I made the court application. He has continued to do that over the years under different guises ranging from Nathaniel Manheru to Correspondent, sometimes special or just plain correspondent.
Charamba can approach any court of law that he wants over my disclosure that he writes as Radar or any such titles. After all, the coffers at PSMAS have dried up and he surely has to look for alternative sources of money to fund his lavish lifestyle and its attendant debauchery.
He can claim any defamation amount that he can imagine, but in equal measure he should stop abusing Zimbabweans by his cowardice manifesting in ghost columns in the state media. Those that live in glass houses stay away from the habit of throwing stones.
Let me also tell Charamba that if there is anything that I will not apologise for, to him and his ilk, is that I am a Rhodes Scholar because it is not criminal. Why is it that George has a problem with anyone younger than him who would have gone to school? Last time it was Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya and Tonderai Shonhe. Their crime, according to the esoterically erudite Charamba, was that the two were reading for their PhDs. Real PhDs not those that are as fake and useless as the meet-the-people rallies by Grace Mugabe.
It is a fact that Charamba suffers from an illusory superiority whence he thinks because of his proximity to President Mugabe and the security sector he is untouchable. He also thinks because of his unfettered access to the state media which give him space to write columns like Radar and On the Other Side by Nathaniel Manheru, he can abuse people with impunity.
Charamba should know that with advances in the area of technology, we no longer cry and beg for a right of reply in his Herald whenever he attacks us, but can also throw brickbats to him in equal measure through the use of alternative media.
This time we are prepared to take the battle, even to penalty shoot-outs. Pakaipa, pakaipisisa!

Xenophobic Attacks Hit South Africa Again | IN PICTURES

Xenophobic attacks have resurfaced in Dunoon,Cape Town with the looting of Somali owned Tuck shops with residents saying they want all foreigners out of Dunoon tonight, Monday 18th.
The situation was tense at the time of going to press, with sources revealing to ZimEye police are currently patrolling the neighbourhood since Sunday.
IN PICTURES BELOW – Foreign-owned shop owners are packing up what remains of their wares on Monday, following looting during a housing protest in Dunoon.
Opportunistic criminals joined protesters on Sunday and in the early hours of Monday morning following unrest over housing, ward councillor Lubabalo Makaleni told News24.

Twelve people were arrested for public violence.
Just over a week ago, residents and members of the EFF’s Western Cape branch protested outside the Cape Town civic centre and handed over a list of demands. These included land and housing, Makaleni said.
Residents were angered by a response to their memorandum on Sunday which said there was no land available.
A number of protests have taken place in Dunoon in recent weeks, following an attempted land grab in March.
Residents tried to set up structures on private property belonging to Greenacres farm.
On Sunday, residents took to the streets and broke into foreign-owned shops and containers, “stealing everything from clothing to food”.
“This morning there was still stuff lying in the street,” said Makaleni.
He said the looting was not motivated by xenophobia, but was simply criminal.
“The thieves joined the protesters and took a chance,” he said.
While he condemned the violence, he said the lack of housing remained a burning issue.
“The area is overcrowded. The demand for housing is great here. Over the past four years there has been good development, such as the electrification of informal settlements, access to water and toilets and facilities such as two schools, a clinic and a library that is on its way.
“But we need to resolve this housing crisis quickly in Dunoon. It is a ticking time bomb and something that I prophesied.”
Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said they remained on the scene to monitor the situation. Those arrested for public violence would appear in court once they had been charged, she said.
A MyCiTi bus terminal was also stoned and Potsdam Road was temporarily closed on Monday morning.
Metro Police and Public Order Police were patrolling main routes in the area. – News24/Timeslive

Tsvangirai says “Zimbabwe Is Not A Failed State”

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has backed his political enemy, Robert Mugabe, on the nation and government’s current status.
Speaking during a televised interview released at the weekend, Tsvangirai said Zimbabwe is not a failed state.
“I see there is disagreement, divisions and factionalism in ZANU PF.
“But I do not for-see any moment a civil war obtaining,” said Tsvangirai.
He continued, ” A civil war denotes a fact of a failed state. I don’t think that Zimbabwe has reached a failed state,” said Tsvangirai.
His comments in the below video, are set to oppose those of his aides and thousands of party members who have been declaring the very opposite –

AUDIO-Fugitive Zimbabwean Teen still trapped in London Embassy

Mystery surrounds how a run-away Zimbabwean teen, who was only in transit in London, ended up in the care of the London Borough of *****n UK for almost 12 months and how the UK managed to claim jurisdiction of the matter. Jurisdiction is the lawful right for the UK to decide where the Zimbabwean boy shall live and with whom. Has the boy been kept in care and in the UK unlawfully? In order for the LB of *****n to lawfully make decisions on behalf of his boy he would either have to be an unaccompanied asylum seeker or to have no habitual residence anywhere outside of the UK.
The teen, when asked how he had landed in care in the UK, stated,
“My mother took me to Zurich airport on 26 April 2015 and I flew to Birmingham airport where my cousin met me. I am not a UK citizen or a UK permanent resident. I just flew in as a tourist.
“My trip had been pre-arranged and I did not arrive alone at the Birmingham airport as my cousin was waiting for me. After spending some days with him in Birmingham, I travelled with him and his friend to London to stay with his sister.

“By that time my mother had joined me in London.
“On 03 May 2015 we had a family conference about me at my cousin’s house as my mom and I had different views regarding where I wanted to go and live since our residency permit for Switzerland had expired. I told my family members at the family conference that I did not want to go to live in Zimbabwe at that time. I preferred to go back instead to the more liberal environment in Switzerland. I absconded on 05 May 2016 in London and my mother reported me as a missing person to the police because she feared that I was going to make my way back to Switzerland alone. On 08 May 2015 my mother tried to retrieve my passport from me to prevent me from absconding and it got torn in the process. She did not actually assault me e.g. kick me. But then I remembered what I had been advised to do in Switzerland i.e. to tell lies about my mother to get my own way; so when my passport got torn I instructed my cousin to phone the police. When the police came I lied to the police and said that my mother had kicked me. My mother spent the day at the police station, she was bailed on condition she had no contact with me for a month. The police picked me up and kept me for 72 hours. Since my mom could not take me back into her care because of the imposed bail condition, the police had no option but to hand me over to social services and that is how I went into care”
According to the mother, she had tried in vain to retrieve her son before the 72 hours had lapsed but she had been told that this was not possible due to the imposed bail conditions. However, when the bail conditions lapsed and the teen’s mother applied for the interim care order to be discharged, her application to discharge the interim care order was refused.
So how exactly did the UK justify taking the tourist teen into their care and keeping him in care? The judgement passed down by Mr Justice Cobb read,
“This reasoned judgment leads to the conclusion that the English Court does have jurisdiction. I have concluded on the evidence that it is not possible to establish NH’s habitual residence; jurisdiction is founded merely upon NH’s physical presence in England. I recognise that I am, in these circumstances, exercising a “jurisdiction of necessity” (as it is so described by Paul Lagarde in his 1997 Explanatory Report to the 1996 Child Protection Convention, see [45]) enabling me to make substantive orders in relation to NH. I readily acknowledge that NH’s connections with England are tenuous and, according to NH’s Guardian, NH enjoys no “affinity” with this country. My conclusion follows, however, a careful review and application of the key provisions of the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-Operation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children (“the 1996 Child Protection Convention”).
It will, I consider, be a relatively rare case where it is impossible to establish a child’s habitual residence; such a conclusion is likely to reflect a material level of rootlessness in a child, which is not common and may indeed be indicative of some interference with the child’s emotional and/or physical welfare and development. It would be wrong for me to strain to find facts to establish a habitual residence simply to achieve an outcome more generally contemplated by the 1996 Convention, particularly where the potential target of the determination is a country which does not itself support that conclusion.
The 1996 Child Protection Convention, like BIIa, is designed to ensure that States which have only tenuous connections with a child do not generally assume jurisdiction to make welfare-based decisions for that child. As indicated above, Article 6(2) will only ever establish a jurisdiction of necessity. But this is such a case.”
In other words, the teen was declared to have no habitual residency because he was a tourist in transit from Switzerland to Zimbabwe via South Africa. At the time his passport got torn, the UK authorities argued that the teen had no habitual residency.
Two issues that have plagued this controversial case seem to be that of Jurisdiction and Threshold. The run-away teen claims that the UK authorities stole Zimbabwe’s Jurisdiction through lies and coercion. His mother claims the UK never had the jurisdiction for keeping her son in care. When asked to elaborate on this, the beleaguered teen narrated,
“I was fully aware for a long time before I flew to Birmingham last April that we had lost our right to live in Switzerland and that my mother was making arrangement for us to move to our permanent home in Zimbabwe. I knew that my mother had established a permanent home for us in Zimbabwe in 2013 and that she had set up 2 businesses there to support us when we made a permanent move to Zimbabwe. In the home my mother had built for us I have my own bedroom. During the 2 years before I came to England last April I split my time between Zimbabwe and Switzerland. Half of my clothes and possessions were in our rented home in Switzerland and the other half of my clothes and possessions were in our permanent home that my mother had built in Zimbabwe. In fact, I had even attended a boarding school for one year in Harare in 2013-2014 and spent part of my school holidays at our home in Zimbabwe. I was therefore not homeless when I came to England to visit my cousin, I had merely gone from having 2 homes to having one permanent home only in Zimbabwe. We had flight tickets with us in London to travel on to South Africa on 8 May 2015 and then Zimbabwe”.
So why then, did he tell the UK social services and courts that he had no home in Zimbabwe? Here is the catch:-
“My social worker, **** ****** and my solicitor, Gordon Reed, told me that I was 15 and that I had the right to be listened to and that they would help me defy my family and get me what I wanted at that time. Initially, I lied that my mom had kicked me so that I could get what I wanted. But after that, my solicitor went and wrote other things that I had not said which made it look like my mom had badly physically assaulted me. Then my solicitor went and submitted a statement in court, without consulting with me, stating that I had said I never had two homes in the past two years. I never ever said that as I have always known that we had two homes since 2013”. The teen went on to say, “My solicitor also told me to lie to Mr Justice Cobb and say that I was gay/bi-sexual when I am not, he said that by saying this it would help me get to Canada instead of being sent home to live with my mother in Zimbabwe. I am not gay, I have never been gay and I have never been bi-sexual. I was told by my solicitor and my Social Worker to lie if I wanted to get my own way; they encouraged me to do this. As well as finding people to follow me around and harass me chanting slurs like “he`s trying to be gay, no, he cannot go to live in Zimbabwe””
The UK clearly has no Jurisdiction, since the teen has stated that (1) He did not arrive alone in the UK and can therefore not be classified as an abandoned child in the UK; (2) He did not seek asylum and (3) he was not habitually homeless as he was due to fly out of the UK on 8 May 2015 to travel to his home.
The teen has stated that his solicitor fabricated stories about him (in a statement to a UK court) having had no dual residency the two years prior to him flying to the UK so that a UK judge could lawfully make decisions concerning this teen because the Judge had jurisdiction. The teen is unlawfully in care. The teen has submitted an extensive statement to the court explaining why he ran away from court on 05 April 2016, how he suffered whilst in the care of the UK authorities and how his solicitor and social worker coerced him and fabricated lies and, the teen did this after his doctor had declared that he had mental capacity. Despite the fact that no UK judge has the lawful right to make any decisions re this teen, due to lack of jurisdiction, the teen is prepared to testify in court, via video link that he has not been coerced to make the statements that he has made and that all he wants is that he and his mom are guaranteed safe passage to Zimbabwe.
So on what basis is the UK still claiming it has the Jurisdiction to make decisions for this teen?

CIO Agent “Steals” 20,000 Litres Of Petrol

CIO-STEALSTerrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Former Zanu PF MP and suspected Central Intelligence Organisation(CIO)operative, Irvine Dzingirai, has been implicated in a fraud case involving 20 000 litres of petrol.
Dzingirai was the MP for Chivi South Constituency from 2008 to 2013 and he is widely suspected to be a member of the dreaded spy organisation-CIO.
Dzingiral last week appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Sibongile Mkandla facing theft charges.
Dzingiral(45), who resides in Rhodene, Masvingo, was jointly charged with Martina Mushangwe.
The two entered into an agreement with Tashoille Trading in which they were to market petroleum products on behalf of the company.
On October 22 2015, Tashoille Trading delivered 26 200 litres of petrol at stand number 101, 130 Mineral Road in Masvingo and the two took 10 872 litres of petrol which they delivered to Rukanda Filling Station in Chivi. The two received payment which they did not remit to the company.
The two also took 1540 litres of petrol which they supplied to Magwizi Filling Station in Mashava. They also supplied 1546 litres to Hama in Chirumanzu and 4087 litres to Ndanga Business Centre on separate days.
After the deliveries, Dzingirai and his accomplice did not remit the cash to the company. As a result the two failed to account for 18045 litres valued at $23 097 and nothing was recovered.
The two will appear in court again on April 28 for a continuation of the trial.

Chiwenga Fires Warning at Mujuru, Opposition

warning at "enemies" of the State
warning at “enemies” of the State

Commander General Constantine Chiwenga, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces boss, has fired a warning believed to be at People First leader Joice Mujuru.
He said he is aware of machinations by what he referred to as Zimbabwe’s enemies, to destablise the country using local elements and that such plots will come to naught.
Chiwenga said the same plots were fomented during the liberation struggle but failed. In an interview on the sidelines of the 36th Independence day celebrations at the National Sports Stadium in Harare yesterday, the ZDF Commander General Constantine Chiwenga said the security forces were on high alert to thwart such machinations.
He described the security forces as the country’s national insurance policy that guaranteed peace and security all the time.
Said Gen Chiwenga: “We’re aware of the ascetic warfare they’re waging on the country — the country’s political system, the country’s economy and the Defence Forces of the country. There’s a real assault on all the establishments of Zimbabwe.”
He said the country was assured of victory. “But if we defeated them in 1979 and got our independence in 1980, what makes them feel that they can launch another war against us and defeat us? We’re aware of them. We’re aware of all the tricks. Even during the liberation struggle, we also had the same problems. We had numerous rebellions that you’re aware of,” Gen Chiwenga said.
“The parties were being split left, right and centre. They tried all the tricks. In the case of us, we had the parties being destroyed — Zapu and Zanu — when Frolizi was formed. It didn’t work. We had the rebellions of the Nhari/Badza. We had the rebellions of Vashandi 1 and Vashandi 2,” he said.
“Every trick which has been used, we’ve been prepared for it and here we are, prepared even more than what they expected.”
Explaining the role of the army in the security of the nations, Gen Chiwenga said: “It’s like yourself — for you to be comfortable you take an insurance policy either for your vehicle or your house or for yourself in the event that you die. We’re the national insurance policy for the country. We guarantee the security of Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans must always go daily about their chores, sleep well, eat well because we’re there as their security guarantors.
“We’re the stockholders of the country. Some are stakeholders. Stakeholders will come and go but stockholders have nowhere to go so we’re the stockholders, we came with it (Zimbabwe).” Gen Chiwenga said all members of the Defence Forces were war veterans.
“Even when we’re gone, there are also war veterans of the Mozambican campaign where we spent 10 years trying to bring peace in Mozambique,” he said. “We’ve the DRC war veterans who fought in the DRC for four years. Every member of the Defence Forces you see is a war veteran in his own (right). If the Chinese have got their Mao Tse Tung, the Russians have their Lenin so we also have our own President Mugabe. His legacy will live forever.”
General Chiwenga said the youths should remain grounded and never be swayed by misguided local and external forces. “The youths are the future leaders but they must be moulded,” he said.
“They must be educated. They must be given the correct ideology. They must understand what Zimbabwe is all about. My message to the youth is that, learn from the past as the past informs your present situation and the present situation informs the future.
“We would want our youths to be disciplined. We would want them to be proud of Zimbabwe, to protect and cherish the history of Zimbabwe. To take Zimbabwe forward and never to be confused by any external influences, internal misguided influences. They must stick to the correct ideology.
“They must have pride of their own country. They only have one Zimbabwe.” Gen Chiwenga said there were programmes in the pipeline such as the National Youths Service to inculcate in youths the values of the country’s history.
Gen Chiwenga said the country’s Look East Policy was bearing positive results as a counter measure to Western sanctions. He said the illegal sanctions were imposed as a warning to other developing countries not to challenge the policies of their colonial masters. “The Look East Policy pronounced by the President has also helped us because it’s not the North or the Western countries that have got what we need.
“The world is now a village and so the East and the South-South cooperation have helped us, coupled with our self-reliance through the establishment of the defence and security forces,” said Gen Chiwenga. (State Media/Additional Reporting)

Mujuru:You Can Shoot Me

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
JOICE MUJURUUUUUUUUBut still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Tsvangirai Demo Useless-Biti

Tendai Biti’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed last week’s MDC-T demonstration held in Harare as a high sounding but useless political statement, which did not improve people’s lives.
Morgan Tsvangirai led his party’s demonstration on Thursday calling for the removal of President Mugabe, despite the fact that his constitutional term is yet to be concluded.
In an interview on Friday after a meeting in Bulawayo chaired by Biti, PDP deputy secretary-general Tongai Matutu said his party was directing its energies towards crafting sound policies instead of making political noise.
He said the MDC-T demonstration was meaningless as it did not provide solutions for struggling Zimbabweans.
“All what has been happening is that we’ve seen ‘mobocracy’ is taking place. The people using the critical masses as a basis upon which they take advantage of political power, but we believe that providing answers to solutions to the country is more critical than to gather 20000 people and subsequently gain nothing from that gathering,” said Mr Matutu.
“If you are going to call for (President) Mugabe to go, will he go after the march or after any other political gathering? Those are the issues if you’re to make any post-mortem of any particular gathering or any event. It should be measured by the results it achieved there- after.”
He said PDP is set to make its political presence felt as it was still working on its structures at ward level.
“We’re here and here for good. We’re not a second class political party. We’re a vanguard party and what we mean by a vanguard party is that we’re going to influence decisions proportionate to our size. We’re going to find solutions to issues that the nation is grappling with,” he said.-State Media

Chef Prepares Food After Wiping His Bum with his Bare Hands because he doesn’t use toilet paper for ‘cultural reasons’

DailyMail|A takeaway chef wiped his bottom using his hands before preparing food because he does not use toilet paper for ‘cultural reasons’, a court heard.

Mahbub Chowdhury, 46, from Swindon, wiped his bottom using his hands before preparing food at Yeahya Flavour of Asia
Mahbub Chowdhury, 46, from Swindon, wiped his bottom using his hands before preparing food at Yeahya Flavour of Asia

Mahbub Chowdhury, 46, from Swindon, was found to have a filthy bottle in the kitchen of Yeahya Flavour of Asia, which inspectors concluded was covered in faecal matter.
When questioned, he said he filled the empty milk bottle with water from the kitchen taps before using it to clean his backside after going to the toilet.
Chowdhury prepared meat and fish curries at the takeaway, which was run out of a rented kitchen at the Nine Elms pub.
The chef, who no longer works at the takeaway, pleaded guilty to ten counts of breaching food hygiene regulations at Swindon Magistrates Court.
He was fined more than £5,000 last year for ten similar offences relating to food hygiene.
Rosie Heath, prosecuting, said environmental health officers who visited the business in May last year found ‘very poor standards of hygiene’.
She said: ‘In the kitchen under the double sinks [they] found an empty plastic milk bottle which was extremely dirty and was covered with brown fingerprints.
‘When asked, Mr Chowdhury explained he filled the bottle with water from the kitchen taps and used it to clean his bottom after visiting the toilet.
‘He did not use toilet paper for cultural reasons. Inspectors concluded the brown finger prints was faecal matter.’
Mark Glendenning, defending, said the milk bottle was never examined and the marks could have been spices.
Chowdhury will be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court.

Independence Nonsense

Miscarriage of freedom

There is nothing to show
After all the bloodshed and injuries
There is nothing to celebrate
After all the heroes became zeros
Our legacy of shame
And freedom that never was

We took over power but remain without power
We took our land yet we are still scratching on the sand
Butchered and burnt alive in foreign lands
Vending and hawking on the streets of our land
Poverty and hunger to our children we hand over
Bread and butter our children ponder
Our prospering poverty
And the empowerment that never was

There is nothing to eat
After we took all of our land
There is nothing to celebrate
After ministers grabbed all the fertile lands
Our so called leaders
Giving us laden with inequity

They enter the corridors of power not by the door
And stay in power everlastingly and forever
They claim good shepherds they are
Yet their flock follow them not
Our legacy of shame
And the reign of ruins

Indeed there something to regret
After all the way from freedom
Because there is something to hide
After all the rigging and corruption
Indeed there is every reason to cry
After all the education in vain and unemployment pain
Because of all the policies to police
After all there is really nothing to show
Indeed there is nothing to celebrate

Our liberty of shame
And the freedom that never was

Mujuru: ZANU PF Collapsing

Joice Mujuru
Joice Mujuru

As Zimbabwe marks 36 years of independence from Britain today, former Vice President Joice Mujuru has described President Robert Mugabe’s warring Zanu PF as “a dying regime that shall never again win a national democratic election” because it had “devoured” the dreams of long-suffering citizens.
In a hard-hitting statement yesterday to mark Independence Day, Mujuru let rip at Mugabe and Zanu PF — declaring boldly that come the eagerly-anticipated 2018 national elections, new kid on the political block — her Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) — would form the next government.
“There is now an implosion within the once seemingly invincible and unstoppable Zanu PF machine. The ruthless monster has run out of ideas and is now devouring its own children.
“These are tell-tale signs of a dying regime that shall never again win a national democratic election,” Mujuru — who was hounded out of Zanu PF in late 2014 together with her close party allies on trumped up charges of plotting to oust and assassinate Mugabe — said.
Pointing to the country’s dying economy, the widow of the late liberation struggle icon, General Solomon Mujuru, said it was disheartening that a country that was once described as a “jewel of Africa” was now a derided basket case — infamous for its leaders’ misrule and corruption.
Mujuru also took issue with Zanu PF youths’ planned and factional one-million man march in alleged support of Mugabe, saying this was a complete waste of time as the most pressing issue facing the country was the dying economy, as well as the ruling party’s well-documented misrule and failures.
She said it was a shame that Zanu PF’s youths had been “turned into political killing machines that are used to prop up a regime that has become unpopular and lost touch with reality”.
Echoing what opposition leader and former prime minister in the government of national unity, Morgan Tsvangirai, has repeatedly complained about, Mujuru said Zanu PF subsisted on a “culture of political intolerance and State-sponsored violence”.
Her sentiments came in the wake of reports that several ZPF leaders — almost all of whom are former Zanu PF bigwigs — were being threatened with eviction from their farms as the “vindictive” ruling party sought to punish them for stampeding to Mujuru’s party.
“Any opposition party that mounts a credible challenge . . . to Zanu PF does so at the risk of exposing its members to intimidation and victimisation,”she observed ruefully.
And in yet another pointed jibe at Zanu PF, Mujuru said the ruling party — which has in turn dismissed ZPF as a fly-by-night organisation that will soon disintegrate — had lost its mojo.
“36 years after independence, we celebrate a revolution that has lost its glow and direction,” she said, adding that the dreams and hopes that had driven many young people to join the liberation struggle in the 1970s had been deferred.
She said this as more than three million people face hunger and starvation, as the cash-strapped Zanu PF government struggles to mobilise enough resources to feed the masses.
Mujuru said what was especially galling to many was that Zanu PF had crassly destroyed the once vibrant “agriculture sector”, with many ruling party bigwigs owning several farms — almost all of them lying idle.
“Bad policies and corruption have devastated this important sector. Some bigwigs own huge multiple farms when many of our people remain landless. Most of these farms lie idle or are badly administered.
“Of late, youth leaders talk of repossessing the farms of all those who do not support Zanu PF and use them to reward those who prop up the regime by violent means.
“The proponents of these strategies have a myopic view of politics. They take people for granted and are self-deceiving,” the former long-serving number two to Mugabe thundered.
The only hope, she observed, was that most Zimbabweans were now completely fed up of Mugabe’s tyrannical quest to remain “in power at all cost”.
“Service delivery in Zimbabwe is pathetic to say the least. Our hospitals are understaffed and without drugs. The general image of our civil servants, not forgetting our uniformed forces, has been badly tarnished.
“What boggles the mind is that instead of marching in protest against the government, whose policies have impoverished our country, the youths are instead mobilising a march in support of the leadership that has failed the nation. We urge all Zimbabweans to shun this ill-conceived initiative,” she said.
Turning to war veterans, who are now divided along Zanu PF’s seemingly unstoppable factional and succession lines, Mujuru said the former freedom fighters did not deserve to be treated in the manner that they were being “mistreated”.
“Please, accept that our revolution has gone astray and you should not allow yourself to be used and be abused (like this),” she implored the disaffected ex-combatants. Daily News

Church Elder Rapes 12yr Old Niece

Terrence Mawawa, Gutu | In yet another incident of sexual abuse, a pastoral elder of the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe(RCZ) raped his 12 year old niece claiming he wanted to merely feel the experience of having sex with the minor.
The man from Jaravani village in Gutu (name withheld to protect the juvenile’s identity), raped his niece after his wife had gone to the borehole to fetch some water for domestic use last month. The 57 year old man appeared before Gutu Magistrate Edwin Marecha facing rape charges. He pleaded with the courts for clemency saying he was a first time offender and a senior RCZ member.
The man claimed before Magistrate Marecha he only wanted to have first hand experience of how it feels to have sex with a minor.
“I can confirm that I called her(name supplied) in the kitchen when my wife had gone to the borehole. I forced her to sleep on the floor and removed her pants then I had sex with her. I did not enjoy the act as I expected because my manhood did not penetrate her small private parts. I continued until I ejaculated ,” said the accused during the court trial.
The accused person also claimed he did not intend to harm her but he just wanted to feel the experience saying he was a senior member of RCZ member. He also said he was officially ordained to wear the RCZ sash.
He pleaded with the magistrate to release him so that he could attend to his family while waiting for sentence. He was however remanded in custody and will appear before the Masvingo Regional Court magistrate next week.
Cases of paedophilic behaviour are on the increase in the country with analysts attributing the rise in such incidents to ritual beliefs-among other factors.

Mugabe Blames Drought for Civil Servant SALARY SLUG

salary slug...Robert Mugabe
salary slug…Robert Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe has publicly admitted his government is failing to pay civil servants and blamed the drought before pinning economic recovery hopes on the re-engagement process his government is having with the international community.
Mugabe since the end of the coalition government he had with the two MDC formations which lasted until 31 July 2013, is struggling to pay government workers.
Government has while struggling to pay salaries on time, also failed to pay civil servants’ bonuses which are traditionally paid up in November and December of each year.
Addressing hundreds of his party supporters most of whom  members of the uniformed forces in Harare at the country’s 36 anniversary on Monday, Mugabe apologized for failing to pay civil servants.
“Government apologies on the delays in the payment of salaries, pensions and bonuses to civil servants, but we assure you that we are working flat out to ensure that the welfare of civil servants will be addressed”.
Mugabe blamed the El Nino induced drought saying was it not because of the natural disaster, his government could have been able to pay workers.
The veteran leader however said the only hopes for the sinking economy to recover, rests on the re-engagement process Harare is currently negotiating with the west.
“The government is on an exercise of debt clearance “as we reengage with the international community,” he said.

Mnangagwa Daughter Marries Mphoko’s Lawyer

wedding dad...Mnangagwa
wedding dad…Mnangagwa

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s daughter Farai on Saturday wedded Gerald Mlotshwa — lawyer to the Midlands godfather’s co-deputy and perceived political rival Phelekezela Mphoko — at a lavish ceremony that was held at the upmarket Leopard Rock Hotel in Vumba.
Both the bride, Farai, and the groom, Mlotshwa, were divorcees.
And as was to be expected, the wedding was well-attended by many of Mnangagwa’s perceived political allies in his mooted bid to succeed President Robert Mugabe.
Among those present were Psychomotor minister Josiah Hungwe, army commander General Constantine Chiwenga, former minister July Moyo and a host of top businesspeople.
Also in attendance were Foreign Affairs minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, under-fire Prosecutor-General Johannes Tomana and former War Veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa.
A senior government official who was present at the wedding told the Daily News yesterday that Mphoko was not at the wedding and that security at the hotel had been tight.
“Security was water tight at the wedding so much that all hotel guests and visitors had to go through serious security measures,” he said.
While Mnangagwa is said to be the leader of Team Lacoste, his perceived political rival Mphoko is associated with the Generation 40 (G40) faction that is rabidly opposed to the Midlands godfather succeeding Mugabe.
In a political attack early this year that many Zanu PF insiders interpreted as a thinly-veiled assault on Mnangagwa and the party faction loyal to him, Mphoko said there was a dangerous notion that was being pushed within the party that the country’s next president should be Karanga — Zimbabwe’s biggest Shona sub-group — to which Mnangagwa belongs.
“There is nowhere in the Constitution where it says the country was liberated by a Ndebele, Karanga or Zezuru. The Constitution says the country was liberated by Zapu and Zanu. So what we are hearing now, that since Mugabe is Zezuru, the next should be a Karanga is misplaced. It will not succeed,” he said.
Mlotshwa is representing Mphoko in the gaffe-prone VP’s staggering $50 million defamation claim against Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe (ANZ) — publishers of the market-leading Daily News, Daily News on Sunday and the Weekend Post.
The court action followed a June 5, 2015 article that Mphoko took exception to, that was based on a Daily News interview with firebrand former war veteran’s leader Jabulani Sibanda.
In the story, Sibanda claimed that Mphoko had sold out during the liberation struggle when he allegedly diverted weapons meant for the late Joshua Nkomo’s Zapu to Zanu — a move that Sibanda further claimed could have led to the needless deaths of thousands of people.-Daily News

Corpse Energy for ZESA | DISCUSSION

By Chrispen Tabvura| Zimbabwe must introduce bio-gas power stations by draining the human waste from the dead people’s bodies, the Youth Assembly of Zimbabwe’s Shephard Dube, has said in a presentation that left all the Cop21 workshop participants stunned.
The man who went on to address a shocked crowd, also suggested the idea will create land for accommodation rather than burial space.
“I think it’s high time that we, Zimbabweans emulate Muslims. They drain their copses before cremating them.
The idea is so professional and saves land for future housing rather than burial,” said Dube.
Though a good number of workshop participants remained in disbelief after Dube’s sentiments, Mrs Doreen Khupe of Tsholotsho concurred with the him saying if this can be a success, load shading would never return to Zimbabwe.
“This is a brilliant idea young man. I think you need to seek funding and also get government support on this project. However, you must also negotiate for more waste from the council authorities so that you can boost the bio-gas power station by adding with raw sewage from the council pipes,” she added.
However, Sithokozile Sibanda, a National University of Science and Technology Media studies student opposed. “I think this will need consultations with traditional leaders and the community, as it will create conflict,” she said.
Another youth, Luck Sibanda stood by Dube saying, “We are living in a dynamic world that need innovation and seriousness. If Muslims drain their dead before burial to remove the waste, why then can we not utilize that bio-gas material from the dead? We need action here. This will save land and create energy that is climate friendly,” he added.
Zimbabwe’s power company, ZESA has been facing problems in the distribution of electricity, hence the idea to supplement the power shortages with bio-gas.

Man Rapes Landlord’s Daughter

A MAN from Pumula suburb in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his landlord’s 14-year-old daughter. Maxwell Ndlovu, 34, appeared before Provincial magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing a rape charge. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to April 29. The court heard that the matter came to light after the teenager’s mother discovered that she was pregnant.
Ndlovu claimed that he had consensual sex with the juvenile whose name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons. “I didn’t rape her. She agreed to have sexual intercourse with me. Her mother is influencing her to turn against me,” said Ndlovu.
Prosecuting, Stewart Madzore told the court that sometime in September, 2015, at around 11PM, the teenager was cleaning her room when the accused dragged her to his room. “Accused person dragged her to his bedroom where he placed her on the bed.
“He threatened the complainant with a catapult and he removed her underwear. “The accused person forcibly had sexual intercourse with the complainant once without her consent and without protection,” said Madzore.
He said Ndlovu told the teenager that he would kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone. “The matter came to light on March 27 when the mother discovered that the girl was pregnant and after questioning her she immediately divulged the incident,” said Madzore.

LIVE UPDATES: Independence Day Celebrations

Zimbabwe turns 36 today.

Below is the live coverage of the events at the National Sports Stadium and elsewhere.
12:37: PRESIDENT MUGABE ENDS HIS ADDRESS AND THIS TAKES US TO THE END OF OUR UPDATES. THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH US.
12:30
Still Mugabe addressing…
“Government is committed to solving social economic beeds of the people….government continues to give attention to chronic diseases… development of rural communities, where most of our people reside, remains under focus… this led to the establishemt of rural development…government remains committed to improving the welfare of civil servants so that they earn salaries above Poverty Datum Line…government apologises for late disbursement of pensions.”
12:10
President Robert Mugabe is now addressing. We publish below excerpts of his speech.
Mugabe begins his address by paying tribute to the heroes of the country’s liberation war.
The 92-year-old, who often speaks off-the-cuff, is sticking to his speech.
On the prevailing El Nino-induced drought, ‘government has taken measures to mitigate the effects of drought through grain imports.’
“There has been an “introduction of 99 year leases to guarantee our farmers security of tenure…..consolidation of diamond and good mining has started to show some results… (on) manufacturing.. I am glad to to inform you that there has been a very rapid resuscitation of companies that were facing closure….and the formation of new companies…new companies include Pure Oil, Feed Mox, Novatex..Kefalos..etc…
“The rescuscitation and formation of new companies have helped create jobs and enhance fiscal space and increased production…government has found a financier and contractor for the Beitbridge and Chirundu road to be constructed for an estimate $2 billion…”
“Airzim and NRZ are on the revival path,”says Mugabe.
If true, this could come as good news to the NRZ workers who have been holding a vigil at the company’s offices demanding their long overdue salaries.
“Power shortages have eased…we have signed a loan with a bank that enables us to do Munyati, Harare and Bulawayo power stations.”
“Efforts are being made to trasform the Beitbridge Border post to a one stop border post to ease congestion and improve trade.”
“…regarding foreign policy, Zimbabwe successfully chaired the Sadc and AU platforms…the country’s ‘Look East’ policy received a boost after the visit of (Chinese leader Xi Jin)Ping in December (last year)”
11:45
The celebrations follow a usual template, where President Robert Mugabe has presided over the inspection of the guard of honour and lit the independence flame.
mgabe 2
What remains is whether the president’s speech will touch on the economic crisis that Zimbabwe is facing and the questions that Zimbabwe may have is whether Mugabe’s pronouncements will bear solutions to the myriad of problems that Zimbabwe is currently facing.

Mutodi Slams Mugabe

Outspoken Zanu PF activist and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa loyalist Energy Mutodi has fired yet another salvo at President Robert Mugabe and his deputy Phelekezela Mphoko saying the party’s leadership is watching with false bravado like “toddlers” while another “bhora musango” is being plotted.
In a clear sign that indeed despite feigning unity, the rank and file in the governing party is now frustrated with the status quo and is now increasingly impatient for a leadership renewal, Mutodi said although he is seized with academic studies, he cannot stand aside and watch while Mugabe and his hangers-on take the country down the garden path.
Savaging Mnangagwa’s nemesis in the Generation 40 (G40) faction, Mutodi claimed that there is a sinister plot by the so-called young Turks to ensure that Zanu PF loses in the eagerly-awaited 2018 elections.
Just like in 2008 when a clique of disillusioned Zanu PF members urged members to vote for them only and not Mugabe, Mutodi said history is now repeating itself.
“Haina kusiyana nebhora mudondo iri kutambwa neboys dzechidiki idzi. Dziri kuti kukwira gomo huvandurira. Ukarinanga rinokufemesa wowira pasi. Saka unotoita rekupoterera kusvika wati ngonono pamusoro-soro paro. Saka mukaoma dzichikukuzai dzichiombera musafunga kuti dziri pachokwadi. Dziri kutokurezvai sepwere mozongoerekana musha waparara. (This is not different to the bhora mudondo scenario. These people know what they are up to. If you see them respecting you they will be just treating you as a toddler and you will only realise you were duped after the party has crumbled)” said Mutodi.
And while most Zanu PF members have chosen to bury heads in the sand, Mutodi came out guns blazing and dismissed the recently held meeting between Mugabe and a section of war veterans as a “high sounding nothing” that failed to tackle the succession issue which is the root of Zanu PF perpetual dogfights.
“Ndakanzwa kuti pamusangano wemawar vet musharuka wakati i get-together, yekuonana nekudzora ndangariro dzekuhondo. Asi chichabuda hapana hapo (I heard that at the war veterans meeting the old man (Mugabe) said it was a get together to bring back liberation war memories and discuss about life but there is nothing meaningful that will come from that meeting)” said Mutodi.
After the so-called meeting that was attended by more than 10 000 people — the war veterans made a litany of charges against the party’s combative political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere and called on their 92-year-old leader to ensure that in future only a person with liberation war credentials would hold the critical post.
Kasukuwere is accused of leaning towards the G40 faction and his adversaries in Zanu PF also accuse him of targeting Mnangagwa’s allies.
He denies the accusations and has constantly demonstrated that whatever he does he would have the blessings of Mugabe.
Thus, Mnangagwa’s loyalists who go by the fancy moniker Team Lacoste are of the view that Mugabe will not tinker with the commissariat department headed by a former intelligence guy who did not partake in the liberation struggle.
“It is a joke that the commissariat will be tempered with. And all this will be happening while the party will be disintegrating. People are not happy and are restless. If anyone is suspected of anything, then that person should be expelled. Anyone who tries to advise the leadership is branded an enemy of the party. Who will be left in the party if we continue expelling people like that?” questioned Mutodi.
There are also growing concerns in the deeply divided governing party that those who have been suspended on “flimsy charges” could coalesce and form their own party or worse still join former Vice President Joice Mujuru who now leads the Zimbabwe People First.
“A fish does not survive without water and a king only rules through the power of the people. This practice of ever expelling people from the party does not reflect a love of the party. Pabva zino panosara vende uye rume rimwe harikombi churu. Chara chimwe hachitswanyi inda,” said Mutodi using powerful Shona idioms.
Turning to Mphoko, who has been stubbornly ensconced in a five-star hotel after refusing the accommodation that government initially offered him; Mutodi said a country whose majority are wallowing in poverty cannot be ruled from the balcony of a hotel.
“Makambozvionepi kuti vanhu vanotongwa nejinda riri kubuda muhotera zuva nezuva. Rabairwa zani nani muimba yevaenzi yariri kubuda? Kana mukaparadzwa imi nesu dzinza rose taparara. (Where did you see people being ruled from a hotel? Who advises him please take heed of our advice because if you are destroyed we will also be destroyed.” Daily News

Rutendo Nyahora Breaks Record in South Africa

Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Nyahora has broken a commendable second in South Africa during the Spar Ladies League.
In the race held in Capetown, Nyahora came out a triumphant 2nd place at the first Spar Ladies League in Cape Town.

Her finishing time was 33:52.
Rutendo who is a mother has defied nature becoming amazingly better after birth in 2009. She told ZimEye.com nothing can stop a determined woman. (SEE FULL INTERVIEW). She came out the next of winner ahead of over 29 other women.
“Giving birth is not anything that is going to change your life or your looks,” she said.

At the end of the race, she wrote, “After my first marathon still feeling strong Big shout to my sponsors #Biogen #Futurelife #nedbankrunningclub and my club manager Nick Bester he is doing great job for me.”

10,000 Refugees Stuck in Zimbabwe

More than 10 000 refugees and asylum seekers are currently staying in the country’s refugee camps and urban areas, Public Service, Labour and Social Services Minister Priscah Mupfumira has said.
Minister Mupfumira said this on Friday during celebrations to mark the International Day of the Social Workers.
“Zimbabwe recognises the strength and resilience of all those displaced by war, persecution and human rights abuses in pursuit of peace, safety and stability,” she said.
“It is Government’s prime responsibility to care and support its valuable citizens, through social service provision.
“However, without, the complementary services from other stakeholders, where social workers are engaged, Government alone would not be able to fully meet the needs of the vulnerable groups. Thus social work is vital.”
Minister Mupfumira said social workers play a pivotal role in the society. “It is from this view point that the social work profession is associated with serving society, through working with individuals, families and other groups of communities.
“Society therefore expects the social worker to be a catalyst, to bring about the desired positive change,” she said.
“The ordinary person in the street will always expect that some good will come out of every contact with a social worker.
“It is therefore imperative that the social work profession be dynamic to keep pace with changes in society.”
National Association of Social Workers president Mr Aaron Zinyanya commended Government for the support accorded to the sector.
“We recognise the good work that the Government has done and continues to do for the fulfilment of this theme.
“Government has put in place legislative, institutional and programme mechanisms to promote the worth and dignity of our peoples,” he said.
“Recently we had a landmark ruling banning child marriages and to us as social workers this issue is more social than legal and there is need for a lot of social mobilisation and conscientisation in our communities and social workers come in handy.”
Dr Gidraph Wairire from Kenya said there was need to look at the root causes of displacements of people in the process of helping them.
“Refugees and displaced persons are like any other people only that they thrive in extremely difficult circumstances as a result of the experiences that force them into such situations,” he said.
“Social work has an inseparable role in not only enabling them to deal with their situations but also in addressing the root causes responsible for displacement of people in our respective societies.”
This year’s commemorations ran under the theme “Promoting the Dignity and Worth of Peoples Focusing on Refugees and Displaced Persons”. -State Media

fellow CAPS United player Archieford Gutu that his girlfriend was with another man at Longchen Shopping Centre in Harare at a night club.
The two then proceeded to the Shopping Centre where they indeed found Mwanjali’s girlfriend with another man.
The two players approached the couple  and harsh words were thrown between the parties. A fist fight ensued between Mwanjali and the man leading to the player stabbing the man once on the chest.
The two players fled from the scene leaving the man for dead. “Good Samaritans” at the scene immediately rushed the man to hospital where his condition is reported to be critical.
Mwanjali’s attempted murder charges may change to more severe charges of murder if the man fails to make it.
CAPS United officials are yet to make a statement on the issue.

Pastor Arrested for Sex Assault, LATEST COURT UPDATE

on trial...Apostle Khomani
on trial…Apostle Khomani

The below is the latest on Apostle Action Khomani the leader of Royal Family Life Fellowship situated in Mutare who is facing indecent assault and rape.
After a hearing last week, the trial is now scheduled for the 11th July 2016 when Khomani is expected to answer for the charges.
A storm is brewing at the church, after its founder, Khomani, was found allegedly involved in sex orgies with female church congregants and misappropriation of church funds, among other shocking shenanigans.
Khomani, also known as AK-47 — who resides at House Number 19, Crispy Road, Palmerstone — was last weekend picked up by the police for allegedly sexually abusing a female congregant (name withheld) sometime in October.
Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesman Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda said Khomani (40) was arrested and was assisting them with investigations for allegedly raping a church congregant with the help of his maid after he had invited her for “counselling”.
“Sometime in October 2012, around 5pm, Khomani invited the woman to a prayer and counselling session. After the session, he went to his bedroom while the woman slept in his maid’s room.
“He later during the night called his maid. A few minutes later, the maid allegedly dragged the unsuspecting woman to the dining room. Khomani followed into the dining room and the maid retreated, leaving the two behind. He allegedly raped her once,” Ass Insp Chananda said.
He said the woman did not disclose the ordeal to anyone until June 25 in 2014 when she reported the matter to the police.
Khomani was later released for lack of incriminating evidence, but police insisted that investigations were in progress.
When approached for comment, Apostle Khomani said the allegations were unfounded and meant to blackmail him. He denied the rape allegations saying some church members framed him.
“The rape issue did not happen. The woman who reported the matter to the police actually framed me after we had disciplined her and her boyfriend for co-habiting.
“Co-habiting is against the church’s doctrine. It was after this issue that they decided to tarnish my name and cooked up the rape issue. They started influencing other members of the church to gang up against me.
“Ndakagadzirirwa nyaya. As we speak, brother, I am still recovering from the trauma of spending moments behind bars. I was only released last Friday,” he said.
Responding to allegations that he was misappropriating church funds by sending his children to expensive schools while congregants were as poor as church mice, Khomani said he was a disciplined man who doesn’t even have access to the church coffers.
“Proceeds from the church are so little that they cannot sustain my family. I have relatives who help me. For your own information, I don’t have access to church funds,’’ he said.
The man of the cloth pleaded with The Weekender to spare him. “Please, brother, protect my name because ndichirikurwara,” he added.
However, sources privy to the goings-on at the church said the report was just a tip of the iceberg.
“You will hear of more stories of this nature in the next coming days,” said one church member who requested anonymity.
Various anonymous letters from church congregants were sent to this publication last week with most of them accusing Khomani of “sacrificing the word of God for personal and selfish gains”, impregnating various unsuspecting girls, single mothers and forcing some of them to terminate pregnancies as well as dividing families, among a flurry of allegations.
Reads part of one of the letters: “Where is Christian Church Council of Zimbabwe? This man of God is one of the false apostles written in the word of God in 2 Peter 2 verse 1-6 and Matthew 7 verse 15-20 which tells us to know what’s true or false of these so-called men of God.”
Another letter headlined: “Royal Family Church has taken a wrong turn” said the church had now borrowed its script from a scary horror movie.
“Like the horror movie franchise, the Royal Family Fellowship Church has taken a wrong turn and is now taking a direction towards total destruction where no one will survive, at least speaking in the spiritual sense.
“The author of this horror script is none other than the church’s founding leader, Apostle Action Khomani, who is presiding over everything that is horribly going wrong in the church today.
“Chief among the ills bedevilling the congregation are adultery, where the church leader is sexually abusing girls and married women and maladministration, in which almost every aspect of the church is being poorly managed by the so-called administration.
“Cases of sexual harassment and indecent assault have been raised against Apostle Khomani. This has been done only in church corridors as many dread (sic) to come out in the open for fear of victimisation.
“This is the classical case of the hen devouring its own eggs. It is clear here that Apostle Khomani is betraying the trust his followers have in him by sexually abusing them.
“There is nothing bad like a shepherd devouring his own sheep instead of being devoured by hungry leopards. We now fear the worst for our wives, sisters and daughters.
“What with the danger being posed by Apostle Khomani’s sexual pervasion . . ?”
Another letter headlined: “Churches must not dilute the gospel”, reads: “For me, my bone of contention with the church is how the Word of God is being sacrificed on the altar for personal and selfish gains.
The church leader, Apostle Action, is the chief culprit in this regard.
“I will be honest and state that in its early days, things appeared perfectly normal, but of late they have got worse.
“The core business of the church is being neglected and Christian values are getting compromised in the process due to the poison we are being fed each time one steps onto the pulpit to preach.
“Most of the preaching has become personal attacks on members of the church, at times embarrassing them in front of their families.
“At other times (sic) our leader proclaims himself ‘messiah’ such that employment, job security, marriage, fertility and such other blessings are all in his hands and he can give them forth if we shower him with loyalty, gifts, money and other valuables. It is also declared during the preaching sermon that if we withhold these presents, then we will not prosper.
“Another sad thing in our church is what we call ‘forced faith’ which has become so prevalent, which I feel is very misleading. A clear example is how some members of the church living with HIV were asked to surrender their medication in order to get cured of the disease through faith.
“This is not bad if it works out well, but the tragedy now is that cases of hospitalisation and deaths have been recorded after the patients fell seriously ill due to defaulting on medication. Honestly, we should not be losing lives and compromise our health due to this blind faith that is being forced on us by someone.”
Reads another letter: “Church irikurarama nezvikwereti zvimwe zvinoratidza izvezvi takabva pabig hall to a smaller hall nekuti mari yacho hapana irikungoperera kumafees evana vake vanodzidza paHillcrest apa achigara kumadale-dale kunoita more than 400 dollars, imagine church iri muSakubva.
“Church haina kana stand zvayo kana chainonongedzerwa kuti ndechayo. He recently introduced Direct Partnership with the man of God vanhu pavanenge vachimupa mari direct neEcoCash.
“Ko makambozvinzwepi zvakadai kukumbira mari vana vesangano in the name of God. He is now claiming kuti iye iAreka yaJehovah, heresy iri pachena. Church yedu tinoida, tibatsirei veduwee.” (State Media/Additional Reporting)

Mutsvangwa: G40 Plot to Create Lawlessness for their Belly

President Robert Mugabe’s clarification of the country’s controversial indigenisation and economic empowerment law, was a “reversal of G40’s scorched earth policy created to fleece the country’s resources”, war veterans’ chairman Christopher Mutsvangwa has said.
Mutsvangwa welcomed Mugabe’s move to “set the record straight” in an interview last week.
“It is a positive signal to investors. No country can survive, let alone grow in this capitalistic world without foreign investment,” he said.
“The Asian Tigers [India, China and Malaysia] had access to capital from all over the world.
“The way the indigenisation policy, noble as it is was, but twisted by a coterie of G40 enthusiasts, had resulted in chaos in the market.”
Indigenisation minister Patrick Zhuwao and his Finance counterpart Patrick Chinamasa have been involved in a public spat over implementation of the policy.
Before Mugabe’s intervention, Chinamasa insisted all foreign-owned banks had complied, a position disputed by Zhuwao.
Mutsvangwa claimed Zhuwao and a faction within the ruling party known as G40 and fronted by First Lady Grace Mugabe wanted to abuse the policy for ill-gain.
“They wanted to create the kind of anarchy we saw around the year 2000 when company executives and directors could not operate for fear of vigilante groups,” he said.
“Zhuwao and his ilk-like he warned in Marondera a few weeks ago, wanted to create a band of youths to bring strife into our economy and the president has put a stop to that,” he said.
“He [Zhuwao] promised youth he would be getting them money from companies. That is criminal abuse of office that cannot be allowed.
“Our indigenisation policy was meant to make sure Zimbabweans own the resources but never to shut out or frighten foreign investors. G40 wanted to collect levies to fund their nefarious activities.”
After Zhuwao’s ultimatum to companies to comply by April 1, the veterans of the liberation struggle called him to order, arguing he was scaring investors.
Political analyst McDonald Lewanika said Zimbabweans should be worried that “government has to constantly clarify its policies”.
“When a president has to clarify policy matters time and time again, it’s worrying and shows that there is a problem; either the policies are not clear to start with and open to multiple interpretations or misinterpretations, or the implementers are confused, incompetent or both,” Lewanika said.
But the opposition MDC-T described Mugabe’s summersault as a “dog’s breakfast”.
“Instead of clarifying the overwhelming confusion that has been brought about by the populist and often misguided remarks by Zhuwao, Mugabe’s statement actually adds to the confusion and policy inconsistencies,” said MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu
“Mugabe’s statement is actually very dodgy and sly. It shouldn’t be trusted and believed at all.
“He is simply trying to hoodwink and mislead the international community; particularly the Bretton Woods institutions.”
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said Mugabe’s aim in “clarifying” the policy was to hoodwink the international community.
“In our view, the statement is a mendacious and dishonest spin intended to arm Finance minister [Patrick] Chinamasa who is currently in Washington DC, USA for the World Bank’s spring meetings with a propaganda tool,” PDP spokesperson Jacob Mafume said.
“The statement, like the Zimbabwe Staff Monitoring Programme, is therefore lipstick on a pig in order to seduce gullible members of the international community by creating a semblance of reform.” standard

Tsvangirai, Chiyangwa Pictures Torch Storm

Pictures of MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, and those of ZIFA boss, Phillip Chiyangwa, have caused a stir.
News readers crept into loud whispering over the alleged deterioration of the two’s health. This was sparked by Tsvangirai’s appearance at his party’s Harare rally on Friday when he was seen marching in a visibly shrunken, frail body, pacing while firmly guided by his young wife, during the $15bhidza protest march – See more at: https://www.zimeye.net/tsvangirais-health-pictures-by-bret-muvet/

ZRP Constabulary Killed In Beerhall Brawl

Terrence Mawawa, Shurugwi| A member of the police constabulary section has been killed in a beerhall brawl after attempting to arrest four men who were wreaking havoc.
The member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee(NWC), who was identified as Constable Muzira, went to the controversial “Rumours beerhall” in the company of a work colleague, Constable Kajuzi, to confront four men who were causing commotion in the premises.
Police have since arrested Taboth and Thamsanqa Sibanda-respectively in connection with the murder incident, ZimEye is told.
Two other suspects are on the run.
According to court documents, the four men were at the beerhall where they began to indiscriminately assault patrons. Muzira and Kajuzi approached the four men to effect an arrest on them.
In response however, the men began attacking the two officers with machetes, stones and booted feet. During the melee, the deceased was stabbed on the left side of the chest and died on the spot while Kajuzi was seriously injured.
Although two of the four suspects were arrested, local residents were unhappy with the slow reaction of members of the regular police force. “We did not see even a single member of the regular police force when the two were attacked.
“The police only came to investigate the matter hours later. The police camp is only a few kilometres from the beerhall ,” fumed an angry resident.
The two were remanded in custody to April 22 by Magistrate Evia Matura. They are also assisting the police with investigations.

Naked Man Found Dead, Police Speak

gonarezhou
Police have ruled out foul play in the death of Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority game ranger Mr Kennedy Zvavahera whose naked corpse was found in Gonarezhou National Park in March.
The 31-year-old, the state media has established, had liver disease. The death had been linked to the ongoing “war” between ZimParks patrol teams and poachers, some of whom are believed to be coming from Mozambique.
It also came as villagers who live around the game park — mainly the Chitsa people — spoke of the bad blood between them and parks authorities who are pushing for their relocation.
National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said, “The postmortem revealed that he had a liver disease and according to the doctor who conducted it, it’s possible for someone with such a condition to suddenly die.
“The circumstances are that this game ranger had taken off his clothes to take a bath in a stream that is in the game park when he met his fate.”
A villager in the area said: “It still remains a mystery to us even after the postmortem.
‘‘Firstly, his shorts were found metres away from his body. His overall seemed to have been neatly placed on the ground as though one wanted to lie on it.
“The gumboots were also positioned as if one wanted to use them as a pillow. What is surprising is that there was mud all over his body.-State Media

Criminals Acting as Court Executors

In 2013, ZimEye.com broke revelations on a shocking loophole in Zimbabwe’s administration of estates as an executor was found to have presided over the signing of a fake will. One of Zimbabwe’s oldest law firms based in Harare, Wintertons Legal Practitioners, was fingered and reported to authorities on a case involving the forgery of the will document of the late, Mr Innocent Katsiga whose assets reportedly worth millions of dollars remains mysterious under their control. READ MORE-
Thousands of potential beneficiaries of estates of deceased people may have been prejudiced of their rightful inheritance through unscrupulous neutral executors.
This could have left genuine beneficiaries homeless following eviction from properties of their late relatives by unscrupulous executors who then sell the assets for a song.
A neutral executor is a registered administrator accredited and licensed by the Council for Estate Administrators (CEA).
He/she is supposed to have a degree in either Law, Accounting or Business, must have administered and finalised at least five deceased estates and be aged 25 and above.
An alleged case in point is that of file DR2389/06, which was given to one Decide Kutyauripo of Guidance Estate Administrators of 9 Peterhead Drive, Eastlea, Harare.
Investigations indicate Kutyauripo does not possess either the prerequisite qualifications or the experience to do the job, and there is no proof he executed the required minimum number of estates.
But after having been cleared by the CEA to do the job, Kutyauripo has attracted the wrath of the Master of the High Court, Mr Eldred Mutasa, who described him as “a rotten apple, someone who is making people suffer for no apparent reason, and must be chucked out of the system”.
On November 26, the family at the centre of the matter (who preferred anonymity) was invited for an edict meeting but asked for an extension to consult and come up with their own executor from within the family.
A few days later the three beneficiaries individually received text messages from Kutyauripo informing them that he had been selected as the neutral executor.
The messages also said he had unsuccessfully tried to call them on their mobile phones and could not locate their given addresses. He was, therefore, inviting them to his office to discuss their late father’s estate.
Two of the three objected and on January 14, wrote a letter addressed to the Master saying: “Please be advised that on November 6, we attended an edict meeting at your offices, but could not appoint an executor dative because some of the relatives we had invited were not able to attend (come) on the day in question.
“We are, therefore, asking your good office to give us a new date so that we can appoint (the) same. We understand you had already appointed one Kutyauripo to be our executor but we, as family members, are in a position to choose a member of our family to be our executor and we are, therefore, going to pray for the next date to appoint the executor. Your urgent co-operation thereto will be greatly appreciated.”
Guidance Estate Administrators, through Kutyauripo, wrote a letter on January 19 insisting they had been duly appointed neutral executors and attached an invoice for US$450 from Light Vale Properties with a call for the family to “urgently contribute some money to pay the bill so that we can avoid the sale of assets”.
The letter did not state how much the estate had been valued at.
Five months into an administration process the victims of the scam described as “a very long stint in hell”, the family has been bombarded with letters giving ultimatums and threats that the property would be sold despite them contributing US$1 080, which was deposited directly into the Sheriff of the High Court’s CBZ Selous Branch (account number 021 23886430037).
The Master’s Office confirmed receipt (serial number 0025440 JSC). The family also paid Guidance Estate Administrators US$150.
The company – whose other directors are listed as S Mukutiri, SE Mukutiri and SM Gowora – notified the family on January 27 that the value of the estate was US$22 000, submitted a different variation of US$23 000 to the Master, and then claimed their executor fees from an estate at US$27 000.
This, the Master of the High Court said, bore “all the ingredients of fraud”.
Despite having confirmed that the Master of the High Court had been paid his fees in full and that part of the evaluation fees had been deposited into their account, Kutyauripo on March 31 wrote: “We are advising you that we are now selling (the property) and are hereby giving you three months’ notice from today to June 30, 2016 to vacate the said property.
“Meanwhile, you are directed to allow our estate agents to view the property with their clients so that they will do their work without disturbances.”
Procedurally, authority to sell such a property is granted by the Master of the High Court who, in an interview last week, said he had never issued the permit as per Section 120 of the Deceased Estates and Inheritance Act.
Asked for his side of the story, Kutyauripo said he was not in a position to verify the exact value of the estate as he was not in office.mOn if it differed from the one he submitted to the Master of the High Court, he said “come to the office”.
Questioned on his credentials to practise, he retorted: “Why should that concern you? Do you have any need to be concerned about my qualifications?”
CEA administrator Simbisai Sithole said Kutyauripo was their member after he wrote two examinations covering Trust Law and Basic Accounting, before undergoing an oral test.
She said her office was not aware of the minimum degree qualification required by the Judicial Services Commission.-ZimEye/State Media

Zimba Pays USD3K to Escape Kuwait Hell

Determined efforts to conceal her anguish were in vain as streams of tears rolled down Josephine Muropa’s cheeks.
She was narrating to us how her daughter, Ruramai, had been sold into servitude.
Hunched on a sofa in her two-room cottage in Chitungwiza’s Unity N suburb, it took a great deal of effort to tell the story.
“My daughter did not do anything wrong to anyone, she was only looking for a better living but they sold her into slavery and she is now suffering,” Josephine said.
This was a few weeks ago and the world was a dark place for mother and child.
Ruramai, like many other young Zimbabwean women, fell victim to a suspected human trafficking ring.
It is alleged she was signed up by a bogus employment agency to do domestic work in Kuwait but discovered soon after arrival in that country that she was going to be an unpaid labourer.
Ruramai tried to escape but she was captured and confined as her handlers demanded US$3 000 for her freedom.
Josephine had neither the money nor the means to help her daughter. Then came an ultimatum: pay the money immediately or Ruramai would “disappear from Earth”.
However, a month after that, Ruramai is coming back home.
After The Sunday Mail Extra of March 20, 2016 published the story of how Ruramai’s plight in Kuwait, the young lady soon got help from the Zimbabwean Embassy there.
“I am happy she is now in safe hands and she is coming back home,” Josephine said last week, bursting with joy. “She is not yet with us but she is at the Embassy and they are treating her well there. I cannot ask for anything more because when she was being held hostage she was being abused but now she is living in a safe place with good people.”
Josephine said they had no option but to raise the money being demanded. With the help of friends and relatives, the US$3 000 is there and only Ruramai’s air ticket remains to be bought.
“With the help of relatives, friends and the embassy we managed to raise and pay the money they were demanding,” Josephine said. “There was no option, they were threatening to sell her and we don’t know what might have happened to her if we had not paid that money. I speak to her and she says she is fine. We are expecting her any moment from now.”
Ruramai said by by phone she says she is staying at Ambassador Mark Marongwe’s house and she might already be in Harare as you read this as she anticipated getting on a flight home last Friday.
“My family managed to raise and pay the money to the agent and right now I am waiting for an air ticket,” she said.
“I am staying at the ambassador’s house, the embassy has been giving me a lot of help and I am grateful. The issue of the air ticket is being sorted and I am likely to board a plane to either South Africa or Mozambique. From there I will connect by bus to Zimbabwe.”
It will be a joyous reunion when Ruramai finally meets her family again after having been subjected to unbearable suffering in a foreign land with no-one to turn to.
Nevertheless, she is just one of the very few fortunate ones who have managed to escape captivity.
Over 200 Zimbabwean women are still believed to be trapped in virtual slavery in Kuwait and other countries, and activists are unhappy with the way the issue of human trafficking is being handled.
Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe last week said Government should treat the issue with urgency and bring back the remaining women that were trafficked to various countries, particularly Kuwait.
“The Government was applauded for repatriating about 13 girls though there is still need for the Government to urgently assist all Zimbabweans in Kuwait and other countries,” said WCoZ members at the Zimbabwe Women’s Resource Centre Network last week.
They also resolved to engage the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs and Women’s Affairs, Kuwait’s Embassy in Harare and other diplomatic missions in an effort to help trafficking victims.
A trafficking victim who fortunately made it back home last week expressed a bit of disappointment towards Zimbabwe’s foreign office in Kuwait.
Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Joey Bimha said Government was making progress in repatriating hundreds of young women still trapped in Kuwait.

Wicknell Chivayo’s Money Disappears | EXCLUSIVE AUDIO

By Simbarashe Chikanza|I am really poor and am waiting for a bank loan application, Wicknell Chivayo has revealed.
Years after flaunting that he earns over $200,000 per month, controversial ZANU PF young “tycoon,” and humiliated ZIFA sponsor, Wicknell Chivayo has revealed he has no money at all and is actually currently waiting for a bank loan.
Chivayo told ZimEye.com in an exclusive interview last night that after dashing the hopes of the Zim national team, flying them in a jet made of straw, he really is penniless and cannot at all lift the $200million power tender awarded him last year in October.
After pleading with Zimbabweans saying he needs more time to prepare, he revealed he is waiting for a bank loan application also showing that at present he has not even applied for that money. He went on to suggest that the taxpayer through the government’s Zimbabwe Power Company, must pay him for the same project he last year claimed he can carry out to electrify all of Gwanda and Mat South.
The full interview below begins with questions over his admiration and closeness to Presidential aspirant Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“Mubobobo Crook” Arrested

A MAN from Bulawayo suspected of using umubobobo and indecently assaulting a woman who was queueing at a shop by rubbing his sexual organ on her buttocks, was yesterday sentenced to nine months in jail. Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa convicted Meluleki Moyo, 27, of Morningside suburb, of indecent assault due to overwhelming evidence. The magistrate suspended four months from Moyo’s sentence for five years on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar crime.
He will serve an effective five months in prison. In passing sentence, Maphosa said Moyo’s conduct was morally deplorable and described him as a social misfit who was an embarrassment to himself and society and hence deserved a custodial sentence.
Prosecuting, Kudakwashe Jaravaza said on March 17 this year shortly after 5.30PM, the complainant and her sister were standing in a queue at a shop situated between 6th Avenue and Lobengula Street in Bulawayo’s central business district.
The court heard that Moyo, who was standing behind the complainant, unzipped his pair of trousers, pulled out his manhood and rubbed it on the woman’s buttocks without her knowledge.
Moyo was spotted by a shop employee who then alerted the complainant. “When the complainant turned her back she saw Moyo in the process of zipping his trousers while his organ was still protruding and she screamed for help,” said Jaravaza.
A security guard, who testified in court, said he initially thought that Moyo had stolen from the woman when she screamed. Moyo, in his defence, denied indecently assaulting the complainant, arguing that she was framing him.
In mitigation, Moyo, who is not married and has no children, pleaded for leniency, saying he was looking after his mother and siblings. State Media

Mujuru part of missing $15bn – Jonathan Moyo

looter?...Joice Mujuru
looter?…Joice Mujuru
Zanu PF spin-doctor Professor Jonathan Moyo has warned Joice Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) supporters not to make too much noise on the “missing” $15 billion diamonds money as their leader is soon to be revealed as being part of the people who looted the diamond revenue.
Moyo controversially suggested on his twitter account that there is evidence linking Mujuru with the missing funds.
He wrote, “Careful.Your embattled leader supervised economy ministries & is part of the $15bn Chiadzwa story.
Watch this space”.
Professor Moyo made this claim in response to opposition parties’ (ZimPF included) demands that the Robert Mugabe led ZANU PF government must pay back $15 billion dollars reportedly looted from the country’s diamond revenue.
President Mugabe revealed last month during his 92nd birthday interview with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation that the country received less than $2 billion out of a possible $15 billion from the Chiadzwa diamonds where more than five companies were licensed to operate.
Mujuru who served under President Mugabe’s government for 24 years and 10 years during the diamond years, is reportedly holding an estate running into 8billion dollars, according to ZANU PF.
Other opposition parties feeling the Mujuru threats have also continually linked her to self enrichment through the looting of national resources.
The former Vice President is yet to make official statements of her own on
the alleged missing revenue.

Beitbridge Accident Declared A National Disaster

Government has declared the Beitbridge road accident which occurred early hours of yesterday morning, a national disaster.
In a statement on behalf of the government, Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere — who visited the accident victims at Beitbridge District Hospital and toured the accident scene alongside his State Security counterpart Kembo Mohadi — said the deceased would receive State-assisted funerals with each family getting $200 cash and transport.
“Subsequent to the road traffic accident involving a haulage truck and a bus belonging to MB Transport, which occurred along the Beitbridge- Masvingo highway at the 46km peg in the early hours of April 15, I have since invoked Section 32 (c) of the Civil Protection Act Chapter 10.06 of 1989 to enable assistance to be rendered to the bereaved.”
“Each bereaved family will receive $200 ‘chema’. Further assistance is being provided by Insurance Council of
Zimbabwe who have undertaken to meet the hospital bills of the injured and mortuary facilities,” said Kasukuwere.
Contrary to early reports claiming that sixty people may have been killed in the accident, twelve people were actually killed, while 45 others injured most of them seriously when the MB Transport bus collided head-on with a haulage truck 45km outside Beitbridge town.
Minister Kasukuwere said Government was seized with the issue of dualisation and upgrading of the Beitbridge-Harare Highway with a view to reducing perennial road carnage.
The police officer in charge of crime in Beitbridge District, Assistant Commissioner Bobby Murwira, said during a Civil Protection Unit meeting
yesterday that the bus was travelling from Harare with 51 passengers on board.
“Upon reaching the 242 km along the Masvingo- Beitbridge Road, the bus hit a donkey and swerved to the side of an on-coming truck resulting in a head-on collision, that killed 10 people on the spot. Two other people died upon admission at Beitbridge
District hospital,” he said.
Asst Comm Murwira said 45 others were injured and taken to Beitbridge District Hospital where 13 were transferred to Bulawayo for further treatment.
Meanwhile, police have released seven names of the 12 victims of the accident, who include a one year, 10 months old baby. Half of them are from Dulibadzimu suburb in Beitbridge.
Those identified are: Mavis Mutizwa (28), Belinda Chapeyama (one year, 10 months baby), Elizabeth Musona (26), Melody Muchaneta Dzongodza (29) all of Beitbridge; Irene Mukuto (30) of Highfield, Harare, Alsum Masvovere (29) of Mbizo, Kwekwe
and Ranganayi Garu (23) of Chitungwiza.
In a statement yesterday, chief police
spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said those who were missing their relatives should proceed to Beitbridge District Hospital and identify the remaining unidentified five bodies.

Mujuru Slapped with Vote of No Confidence

...Joice Mujuru
…Joice Mujuru

An undisclosed number of Zimbabwe People First Party members, have signed a petition declaring their lack of confidence on party leader Joice Mujuru and her interim executive committee.
In a petition addressed to Mujuru and her executive, the party members raised a number of party administrative issues they claim have not been addressed. As a solution to the issues, the party members have recommended that the party’s “founding fathers Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo should immediately take over the running of the party,” a declaration that Mujuru has failed to run the party.
“We are humbly requesting that the founding elders take over the party activities because those in interim positions are only doing best to position themselves instead of driving our party.
Can we have Honourable Mutasa, Maka, Bhasikiti and Gumbo taking active roles as they are the visionaries of our movement,” read part of the petition.
Amongst issues raised in the controversial document is factionalism which has threatened to tear the new party apart. The organisation which is led by predominantly by ruling ZANU PF discards, had has done very well at its inception, attracting huge support, but a few months later, is now faced with a difficult task of integrating the former ZANU PF members with former opposition members.
The strife has forced the party to find itself being run by parallel structures with the former opposition parties members refusing to be led by some former ZANU PF supporters who they accuse of being soiled by their previous activities during their ZANU PF days.
Amongst the many other issues the party members are demanding for the party to provide the provincial and district coordinators with airtime.
The full unedited petition reads as follows in full:
“We hereby humbly submit the following for your action.
PARTY SUPPORTERS CONCERNS @ZPF
1. COMMUNICATION:
Who is responsible for responding to our concerns? Many a time we have no one responds to our concerns. May you kindly clarify our channel of communication to the Secrétariat.
2. REGULAR UPDATES: STATE OF AFFAIRS.
What is our current position and progress, since the Press Conference? We need a state of affairs report across all platforms.
PARTY LAUNCH/CONGRESS
1. Are we still going to launch the party as scheduled? ( 3 months from Press Conference as planned).
2. We need to start making plans to come, those in Diaspora inclusive
If we wait for all Zim to have structures for the party to be launched then its unfortunate time is running out we wll have no time to campaign 2018 is good as next year
3. CONSTITUTION
How do we channel our concerns with regards to constitution before its adoption?
4. RESOURCES FOR COORDINATOR IN ZIM .
We have been sacrificing our resources including time to build structures but we can sacrifice to a certain extent, there are times we need airtime for coordinating meetings, money to move from place to place, those who where in the mdc at its inception will agree with me that all monies where prioritized pa ground. For as long as that is not considered we shall remain stagnant.
We are kindly asking for sustainable provision of airtime ( and gadgets if possible) for our coordinators if possible. Could Honourable Mvundura lobby for support from Diaspora Provinces? Each Diaspora Chapter could adopt one or 2 local Provinces to help with airtime and hard gets in order to improve communication.
5. IT DEPARTMENT
a) We are kindly asking to know who is managing our IT department for easy communication.
Tirikungonzwa kuti a team is being put together, but we were hoping to see a notice asking any of us if we can help. but nothing came up that why?
Newspaper articles since vaGumbo vabviswa have become so scarce.
b) We requesting for the setting up of ZPF party website to improve communication with the public.
C) Facebook Pages need to link up and communicate with one voice and at the same level.
d) We are requesting for establishment of party offices to increase Electrorate confidence in us.
e) Membership Cards: When are they coming? What is stalling card production?
f) Do we have a membership Data base? We must have a database of all those members for planing purposes and resource allocation.
g) Who is our Spokesman? Many a time we have heard different statements coming from different individuals who are not Honourable Moyo.
RALLIES
The Principal held the press conference. Fine. We humbly suggest that the Principal hold at least one public rally in each province to convince the public of our existence.
5. GENERAL PROGRESS
It seems it is stalled since the Press Conference. We are moving at a slow pace ,hope that won’t kill the electorate confidence in our party.
The general people tired of Zanu and Mdc are eargerly waiting for ZPF. Unfortunately we have delayed more than enough and people are getting impatient and some are leaving us.
We are humbly requesting that the founding elders takeover the party activities because those in interim positions are only doing best to position themselves instead of driving our party
Can we have Honourable Mutasa, Maka Bhasikiti and Gumbo taking active roles as they are the visionaries of our movement?
6. GENERAL RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
What is being done to mobilise resources both locally and abroad? Have we lobbied for international support?
7. PARTY REGALIA
No T-shirts no cards, what identifies ZPF as of now? Only BUILD?
8. SUBSTANTIVE STRUCTURES
What is stopping the substantive structures from ward, constituency, and provinces rather than continuing appointing ppl as coordinators a post which is not in the constitution?
9. FIELDING OF CANDIDATES
One big issue which wil determine our survival in this political competition is on the fielding of contesting people in the electorate.
If ZPF fields person whose name has been soiled in the past and is appearing dirty in front of the voters, wen we field such candidate we wil embarass the party because unlike Zanu Pf we cant rig.
It is only Zanu who fields an unwanted candidate and he/she wins because of rigging. The point is in a free and fair election lets field clean candidates, please we dont want to play games with the suffering masses
10. OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Outreach programs are needed to explain our ideology especially the contents and Vision of the party as enshrined in BUILD and our Constitution..Outreach programs to Students, Civil organizations, Churches, even to our own constituencies
11. Diaspora builders are requesting for unconditional and unquestionable recognition.
Are they ever considered in decision making as our fellow Coordinator’s back home, that is is their input ever considered on anything happening in the party?
11. Like builders at home Diaspora builders want clear formal communique.
There has been no formal communication to Diaspora Chapters even in the form of feedback on vital issues. They say that they only hear these ZPF current news in the media or through the grapevine . They are made to feel like they playing second fiddle to builders at home. Like lesser builders. They feel they are building hard enough to be recognised as well?
14. UK is a very significant Province especially in terms of resource Mobilization. We are requesting our Management Team to deal with the U.K. Issue once and for all so that they can work together again.
15. We want constitutional amendments
Why is the Draft Constitution too salient on Diaspora Provinces?
16. PARALLEL STRUCTURES
The issue of parallel structures must be urgently deal with. It’s demoralising our builders
17. Posting pictures on Social media with the President.
What purpose does it serve?
Photos of the president addressing a rally, women, donating , farming or doing something productive are understandable. We party supporters need feedback from meetings and not pictures.
Every picture posted should serve a purpose in promoting the party and the president. How will other hardworking builders who have no access to the Principal feel?
Yours

Angers Flare as Axeman Is Buried

The survivor Claudius Big Hari nursing axe wounds from his brother Ephriam Hari who killed three people and himslef in Hurungwe on Sunday
The survivor Claudius Big Hari nursing axe wounds from his brother Ephriam Hari who killed three people and himself in Hurungwe on Sunday

The Hurungwe man who hacked to death three people with an axe before downing poison was buried on Thursday amid high tension. His victims were also buried at their respective rural homes the same day.
Ephraim Hari was buried near his homestead in Bhobho village, Kapiri area under Chief Kazangarare on Thursday afternoon, the same day that his worker, Emson Charedzera, was being buried in Guruve.
His other victims including wife Faresi Mauya and her brother Lawson Mwanza were buried in Mutorashanga yesterday. Ephraim could not stomach being confronted for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl, the resultant embarrassment and prospects of a lengthy jail term.
He went on the rampage, killing all the people who knew about the rape, hours after discussions to resolve the matter without involving outsiders. Armed with an axe Ephraim is suspected to have hacked down his wife first after being told she knew about the rape.
He then went for his brother-in-law, before finally striking his worker.
Ephraim then went to his brother, Claudius’ home about 400 metres from his homestead and also struck him with an axe.
His brother was, however, lucky to escape with injuries and is recovering at Karoi District Hospital.
Before his burial, the in-laws who lost two children in one night demanded 13 head of cattle.
The burial proceeded after protracted negotiations in which the Hari family offered to pay six beasts up front.
They promised to pay the remainder over time. A tense atmosphere with a palpable sense of fear swept through Bhobho village as people struggled to come to terms with the horrific triple murder.
Some villagers set aside their shock to attend Ephraim’s funeral, while others boycotted the funeral altogether.
Out of fear some neighbours have fled their homes to live with relatives in nearby villages.
The burial was fast-tracked amid reports that bodies of people who have committed suicide are not supposed to be kept in the houses overnight.
But his uncle, Member Mapfura, said the decision to fast track the burial was due to the poor state of Ephraim’s body. “We were told to collect the body at Karoi District Hospital because it was starting to go bad,” he said.
“So it had to be buried the same day that it arrived, because we had to choose between following tradition and having the body decompose.”
The Herald caught up with Claudius’ wife, Irene Veremu, who fought tooth and nail to save her husband from certain death by pulling him inside after he was struck with an axe once.
“Uncle (Ephraim) came and knocked at around midnight pleading for an opportunity to finalise discussions on the alleged rape. My husband initially refused to open the door saying it was late before he opened and was struck with an axe,” she narrated.
She said Ephraim expressed fears that the whole world would know what had happened and he would be imprisoned. This should not happen, he declared as he pounded the door demanding that she let him in.
She used furniture to reinforce the door with the support of her 14-year-old son.
“You think you are more powerful than me”, he reportedly asked during the ensuing commotion.
The scene was like a scene from a horror movie as Ephraim bayed for his brother’s blood.
“I kept telling him that I would not open the door as I feared he would attack me also but he said I do not share the same blood with him, so he would not hurt me,” she said.
This, she said, did not give her assurance and she kept the door locked.
He reportedly turned to the barn where cured tobacco was being stored and a kitchen hut both of which he set on fire.
After a while, they sought help from a neighbour after realising that Claudius was fast losing blood and his condition was getting worse. He was taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mauya sought refuge at a neighbour’s home fearing that her uncle Ephraim would return. Up to now, she said it had not sunk in her mind that Ephraim is dead, and she lives in constant fear that he could return to harm her and her family.
After the heinous act, Ephraim proceeded to his mother Rosnet Chinavaenzwa’s home about 1,5km from his homestead. His uncle Mr Mapfura said he pleaded with his mother to escort him to his former wife’s home about a kilometre away saying he wanted to talk to them about something.
She refused and he left.
However, his body was found lying on the floor with froth foaming at the mouth. It was established that he had taken tobacco pesticide. Enquiries at the former in-laws’ home established that he did not set foot there.
First to be found dead the following morning was his wife Faresi who was found lying in a pool of blood on the veranda. She had deep cuts on the head and all over her body. It is suspected that she tried to crawl from the bedroom to go outside for assistance after being struck with the axe.
The brother and worker were found lying in the bedroom with multiple cuts the following day, as people never suspected that they could still be at the homestead.
“We thought that they could have fled the homestead after witnessing Faresi’s violent killing. So, we went to Mbuya Chinavaenzwa’s home, but when we returned with the police, that is when we found the two bodies in the bedroom,” said Irene Mauya.
Although Ephraim was described by many as a quiet person, Bhobho village and its surroundings are searching for answers as how a person would cause so much death.
Said Mr Frank Murasiranwa: “I could not even go for the funeral because I am yet to understand how such a thing can happen.”
But what triggered such a crime? According to family members, the late Faresi Mauya was asked to go and stay with her mother-in-law Gogo Chinavaenzwa who was not feeling well, early this month.
It is during that time that Ephraim reportedly raped the girl.
After Gogo Chinavaenzwa’s recovery Faresi went back home, while the girl went to live with her Gogo. On April 10, Gogo Chinavaenzwa took the girl and two others to the river to bath.
She reportedly asked to examine them with one of them aged 17 refusing saying it was embarrassing for the process to be done in the presence of girls younger than her.
However, the other two underwent the examination and the girl was found to have engaged in sexual intercourse. “She initially refused to name the perpetrator but later said it was uncle Ephraim,” said Mrs Veremu.
It is believed that the late Faresi Mauya alerted her in mother-in-law Gogo Chinavaenzwa of a possible case of abuse leading her to investigate through the examination.
It is believed that Ephraim killed his wife who is stepmother to the girl because of the information that she had and the possibility of her telling his in-laws from the previous marriage.
As Ephraim’s coffin was being lowered into his grave, Kapiri village breathed a sigh of relief but the scar will remain for a long time to come.
In Mutorashanga, questions and bewilderment engulfed the community.State Media

6 Murders In 1 Week

Police Spokesperson Charity Charamba
Police Spokesperson Charity Charamba

POLICE yesterday said six more murder cases were recorded countrywide this week in separate incidents, as the force continues to urge people to resolve disputes amicably.
Last week, nine murder cases were recorded countrywide, bringing the total number of people that have been killed in separate incidents in the past 10 days to 18.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said the police envisage an environment where there are no murder cases in the country.
“The six murder cases were reported in Bulawayo, Manicaland, Matabeleland South, Mashonaland Central, Midlands and Matabeleland North provinces. These provinces recorded one case each.
“Most of the cases involved minor issues that could have been solved or avoided. Drunkenness also contributed to some of the cases,” she said.
In one of the incidents, a Kwekwe man was beaten to death by another man after being accused of stealing bananas at PG Complex. Snr Asst Comm Charamba said a supervisor at a bar in Bulawayo died after being stoned following a misunderstanding with a drunken man.
In Manicaland, a mentally ill man struck and killed his wife with a machete after accusing her of being a witch while in Kezi, a man was killed by his stepson following a misunderstanding over the guarding a field.
“In Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central province, a man believed to have been drunk killed his mother-in-law after she intervened when he was beating up his wife,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.
She said the man had come home late and drunk when he demanded money from his wife, resulting in a misunderstanding.
Police last week expressed concern over the increase in armed robbery and murder cases countrywide. Some of the cases recorded were as a result of domestic disputes, beer drinking, drug abuse and other social or related matters while others involved mentally ill persons.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Harare man lost a laptop, hard drive, power bank, gold watch, spectacles and a wallet containing $15 to four armed robbers that had offered him a lift to the city centre.
The robbers were travelling in a white Honda Fit without registration number plates when the incident occurred at around 6.30am.
The victim was assaulted and stabbed on the thigh with a knife before being dumped.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba urged the people to desist from boarding private or unregistered vehicles.
She said anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of criminals should contact any nearest police station or the National Complaints Desk on (04) 703631.

Gushungo Bombing: Soldier Denies Link to Party

tomana accusedarriving at courtThe trial of Borman Ngwenya, who is accused of attempting to petrol-bomb the First Family’s Alpha Omega Dairy, continued yesterday with the accused telling the court that he only got to know Zimbabwe People’s Front political party president Owen Kuchata last year at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces celebrations.
In his defence whilst being led by his lawyer, Mr Exactly Mangezi, Ngwenya (30) said Kuchata approaced him on the day in question asking him to link him up with a female soldier identified as Rumbidzai Matsanga who was part of a team he was commanding.
Ngwenya is facing charges of insurgency, sabotage, banditry or terrorism.
“I didn’t know Kuchata was a member of an opposition party until a time when Matsanga who was now in a love affair with him told me that his profile picture was written President 2018,” he said.
Ngwenya told the court that he asked Kuchata several times if he was involved in any opposition political party, but he refused to disclose anything to him saying soldiers were not to be trusted in such things.
“One day, I was surprised to hear that Sergeant Mahachi and Chitimbe came looking for me at my house since I was on leave. I proceeded to my workplace that day and saw Sergeant Mahachi. After about 10 minutes, he came to me with military police and they arrested me,” said Ngwenya.
Ngwenya said he slept in the cells and was taken to 2 Intelligence Company the following day where Sergeant Mahachi showed him a picture in his mobile phone of him and Kuchata.
He said Sergeant Mahachi asked him whether he knew that Kuchata was the leader of an opposition party. “I told Sergeant Mahachi that my communication with Kuchata was centred on the fact that we come from the same rural home,” he said.
Harare magistrate Mrs Fadzai Mtombeni deferred the matter to April 22 for continuation.
Allegations are that police received a tip-off that Kuchata, Ngwenya, Solomon Makumbe (29) and Silas Pfupa (37) were planning to bomb Alpha Omega Dairy’s processing plant and tuckshop during the night.
The dairy’s processing plant and tuck- shop are located at Gushungo Dairy Estate, Jumbo Road in Mazowe. Acting on the tip-off, the police proceeded to the farm and laid an ambush about 100 metres from the quartet’s target.
Around 10pm, the detectives saw the men approaching the dairy’s processing plant and immediately arrested them. They searched them and recovered four Molotov cocktails (petrol bombs), ammonium nitrate, nails and sand in 750 millilitres empty brandy bottles.
In a separae case, a soldier who was on the police wanted list on allegations of raping a 14-year-old maid on two occasions, tried to strike a police officer who wanted to arrest him with a hoe as he attempted to evade arrest, the court heard on Tuesday.
The cop had to unleash a sniffer dog on him in a bid to save his life, but Seven Munetsi (31) also attempted to kill the dog.
Munetsi had gone into hiding after the housemaid had filed rape charges against him.
He was initially charged with rape when he appeared before regional magistrate Ms Fadzai Mthombeni.
After a full trial, Ms Mthombeni was convinced that it was a consensual relationship and convicted Munetsi of a lesser charge of having sexual intercourse with a girl under the legal age of con- sent.
On the two counts, Munetsi was fined $500 (or six months jail).
On the third count of resisting arrest, Munetsi was fined $100 (or one month). In aggravation, prosecutor Ms Ressy Nyamombe had called for a short but deterrent prison term saying that offences of this nature were on the rise, hence a restraining sentence was called for, to send a signal to would-be of- fenders.
She said Munetsi exposed the girl to risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections.
The State was alleging that sometime in October last year Munetsi took advantage of his wife’s absence and entered a room in which the girl was sleeping and took her to his room. He was intimate with the girl on other occasions.
Eventually the girl went to the police station and made a report.-State Media

Leigh-Anne Zanele Mahachi Zimbabwe’s child, memories of the Diaspora

by Grace Kwinjeh| All is normal. It is the usual morning rush in a small neighbourhood in the town of Sheffield, school runs for some parents, workers Analysisgoing to work – while those who remain home start their daily routines.
It seems like any other day, of the daily – oft -repeated routines; in the tranquility and safety of a neighbourhood, not accustomed to the kind of drama about to befall.
Today, this morning, 8.15 AM to be precise, something totally shocking and unexpected happens. An intruder with an evil motive has arrived, to disturb the peace, derail routines and steal a life. A loud scream is heard, one does not immediately jump into conclusions, it could be children playing or some prank among adults. No!! A murder most foul has just been committed.
Days later the story starts to come to life. A story about how a beautiful, intelligent, charismatic young Zimbabwean, Leigh- Ann Zenele Mahachi has been killed. Postmortem reports indicate she died from multiple stab wounds.
While Zanele was stabbed several times by a ruthless monster with such brute force, she screams, her neighbour, Lindsey Grayson hears the screams : “ I thought it was children passing on their way to school so I just ignored it, I did not think anything of it,” she recalls.
Still dealing with the shock neighbours describe this kind girl, always polite, talking to others, who lived with her brother Taf and mother Cecilia.
Cecilia the mother witnessing the horror of it all, hysterical runs out into the streets still in her morning gown. She would be, any mother would be and also share her pain and anguish!! She must have invested a lot into this beautiful life – Indeed yes there will be why’s and more why’s, that wound will take time to heal.
Zimbabwe’s Diaspora community is once again thrown into shock, robbed of yet another life, struggling to come to terms with this horrific incident – a dark shadow is cast as the reality of Diaspora life is once again exposed. Betraying the social and cultural predicaments daily faced by Zimbabweans, as they try to cope in lands far away from home, struggling with new realities, to do with cultural shocks, identity and survival.
Consequently, Zanele’s story carries many narratives; she is a female, she is black, she is part of the huge Zimbabwean Diaspora that has for political or economic reasons scattered itself across the globe since 2000. Of the four million who left, the United Kingdom (UK) alone is estimated officially to be home to about 500 000 Zimbabweans.
Zanele at 22 is a profile of the ‘New Diaspora’ not really connected to Zimbabwe, its values or memory any longer, but again not quite British enough to fully embrace and be part of the local culture. Tough spot to be in for this young fragile generation, painstakingly creating new identities, value systems, new culture, all in a bid to survive- be appreciated- affirmed in foreign lands.
Actress Danai Gurira, who has broken new ground in the Diaspora where she was born in Iowa, United States, speaks to this black girl, to the late Zanele and many like her, caught in that identity crisis, under the hash tag #blackgirlsrock# she says: “I know it can get tough out there…but know that you are designed for greatness. Black girl you rock because you have so much potential, because your power and your potential will help heal this world.”
Important words for this young generation that has had to make do on its own, parents work shifts, are strained, no longer have the time or space for full time parenting like it was back home. The little ones have to find their footing and grow. They soon become prey to unscrupulous characters of all sorts.
Zanele a victim of the most gruesome misogynistic response to her femininity, assertiveness, intelligence as a black woman is a victim, experiencing the backlash of yet another vice – femicide the killing of women because they are women.
The UK alone reports many such cases, another recent example is of former Ms Africa contestant Lina Keza who was also violently stabbed by boyfriend, David Kikawa after she tried to dump him.
Women Aid reports that: “In the United Kingdom, over the last ten years, on average two women a week are killed by their male partners or former partners.”
Zanele’s case is painful to come to terms with, but as she is laid to rest we remember the beautiful young lady, who dared to believe and be herself in a home far from home. Strength to her mother and family. To sisters, mothers and caring brothers out there, this is yet another wake up call to us, up our game, strengthen our networks and community support systems. We are our sisters keeper!

Zanu PF Youths Bomb Mugabe Directive

By Terrence Mawawa| Members of the dreaded Zanu PF militia, have openly defied President Robert Mugabe’s calls to distribute food aid in a non-partisan manner.
Speaking during his belated birthday celebrations, President Mugabe said: “Food is distributed to people regardless of their affiliations. In the rural areas, you don’t go asking, are you Zanu PF, are you not. No we don’t mind the politics of the people.”
“It doesn’t matter to which party they belong whether it be MDC-T or MDC-Z or what or People First, or People second or people third, we just give them,” he continued.
Cynics have, however, quickly pointed out that Mugabe’s utterances were loaded with cheap political grandstanding meant to hoodwink the nation into believing he was a leader with people’s needs at heart.
In defiance, Zanu PF youths last week, told hundreds of hungry residents at Tsungubvi Community Hall in Glendale that only card carrying party members would benefit from the food distribution exercise despite the dire need for relief in the community.
Further compounded by Zanu PF party members who include, Mathias Tongofa an ex-soldier based in Chivi North constituency, who threatened to kill villagers who frequent his homestead seeking relief.
Glendale residents told ZimEye.com ,the youths erased names of suspected opposition members and replaced them with known Zanu PF activists.
In defiance of President Mugabe’s directive, it is understood that one Blessing and a Mr Malunga (address known) of Glendale spearheaded the vetting process, Zimeye.com can further reveal that the two threatened that ‘sellouts’ meaning opposition members, would be denied food.
“Zanu PF youths are compiling lists on partisan basis. Those who do not belong to the ruling party are being left out of the process. The situation is really tense here,” said one resident.
Those who do not attend Zanu PF meetings are also being left out of the food distribution processes.
“On April 8 , Malunga and Blessing told us that those who do not support Zanu PF should vacate the place since they would not receive food aid,” said a local resident who chose to remain anonymous.
Furthermore, Bikita South Constituency MP Jeppy Jaboon, said opposition supporters would not be considered in the food distribution process, while in Gutu West Constituency, kraal-heads who openly chant Zanu PF maxims have warned that villagers would starve if they don’t join the ruling party.

Large Numbers, Destiny and Destruction: TB Joshua, Tsvangirai

Dear Editor
Is having a large following and supporters the defining point of character and destiny? “Morgan Tsvangirai holds the keys of Zimbabwe’s future,” two youngies spat at me in 1st Street while screaming in my face yesterday. Turning to my laptop, I also soon watched as Bret MuVet was attacked here on ZimEye. Morgan Tsvangirai’s supporters are celebrating saying their

Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler

leader is taking them into Canaan land. Tsvangirai’s spiritual mentor, the Nigerian preacher, TB Joshua, shares the same boast.
History tells us Adolf Hitler (D.O.D 1945) was far much more popular attracting a far greater following than these two (Tsvangirai & Joshua) put together. Indeed even to this day, millions still follow Hitler, and yet his destiny was utter destruction and he led to the sudden death of over 7million of his own followers and citizens. One day  they were there happy and shining, tomorrow they were gone, slept into the abyss of eternity. We have seen TB Joshua watching as over 116 followers die right in front of him, in his own backyard yet claiming to see disasters occurring in  lands thousands of kilometres away.
Back home here in Zimbabwe, does Morgan Tsvangirai think he will become President here especially after the David Coltart shocking declarations now in ZANU PF’s watch-book? Is he not similarly carrying his supporters in a ship of perforated wood?
It really appears Zimbabweans are one poor folk, weak in thought and strategy. I think what Bret MuVet is doing is simply challenging Zimbabweans to expand their strategy beyond Morgan Tsvangirai who many say is the one “holding the keys of Zimbabwe’s future.” To many Tsvangirai is the spiritual flame and power of their soul. They will not accept any thought beyond Tsvangirai. How poor!

Pastor Mboro Kicked Out, Evicted from Building

Kicked out... pastor Mboro
Kicked out… pastor Mboro

JOHANNESBURG – Pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng could be facing time behind bars after police revealed on Friday he was being evicted from his Incredible Happenings Ministries church building in Katlehong for illegal occupancy.
Mboro was not present during the evictions but his wife was.
According to the police an eviction operation was carried out on Friday morning at the building, with the Red Ants security team doing most of the heavy lifting.
They began moving the contents of the church, including tables and chairs, from the municipally-owned building early in the morning.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said more information will be available later.
“An eviction order was put forward on the grounds that the pastor has been illegally occupying the building.”
In recent weeks, the controversial pastor claimed he went to “heaven” and had pictures to prove it.
The Commission for Religious Rights said it wants him to answer questions about the claims.
The self-proclaimed prophet hit back at the commission by filing for defamation.
Mboro allegedly sold photos of his trip to “heaven” for R5,000.
Police have warned that Mboro and his congregation will be violating a court order if they return to the building.

In order to win, you have to be very honest and be able to accept advice Analysisand adjust accordingly. However because of the big man mentality that seems to rule Zimbabwe Politics, a lot of people just don’t speak up and state the obvious and make adjustments so that the strategy can be adapted in order to win. While some of us are currently sitting in Mansions in Highlands, sipping imported whisky and toasting to a successful demo today, let me be the one to point out what really transpired.
The week before the 2013 elections, the same start venue was used as a rally venue where some estimated between 80000 and 120 000 people attended. In order to be fair, let us average that to 100000.
Today’s demo was named the MOAD- Mother Of All Demos- and everyone was invited even if you were not an MDC-T member or supporter. The Demo was advertised a few weeks before the date, postponed and then moved forward. A lot of time to prepare. A very strong drive for Ecocash donations was launched to provide transport for those out of town.
Having all these items in place we can estimate that there might have been 12 000 people at the rally. Lets assume that 20% of those were people from other parties, perhaps interested NGOs and Civic Society. That means from a number of 100 000 the MDC-T has managed to bring in less than 10 000 supporters to its Mother Of All Rallies. In a country where unemployment is at 90% and people didn’t have to ask for leave from work to attend, In a country where the majority of the population reside in Harare or just outside, this is indeed a worrying number.
Yes we know that in between elections, crowds are hard to come by; Transport is tough to get, people are tired. Yes it is indeed better than nothing, but The MDCT must not ignore the obvious.

They have lost almost 1000% in support. For people like me who are not mathematically gifted, that means in 2013 when there was 10 people at that rally, today there was 1 person.
Where are the other 9?
Stop celebrating as if you have won the election already. Stop telling MT that…. “2018 tinopinda chete”…. “2018 Hazvikone”……. “Save anevanhu
zveshuwa”…..   “NaSave tinosvika”….
STOP IT!! I know you are all scared to speak openly, we did and we were booted out, but someone somewhere needs to tell the man that the party is in a crisis. It will be a miracle indeed if the MDCT get the same 34.94% they got in 2013. If they continue on this course, patting themselves on the back for what is in fact a failure and giant step backwards, they will be shocked in 2018. Add to that the lack of electoral reforms, the 2 senior people who split from the party, and the former deputy president now heading up yet another opposition party, Guys, lets be realistic and say if MDCT get 20% that would be a good result for them.
An army of Lions led by a sheep will still be limited by that sheep.
Please maCadre, Someone, Somewhere, Somehow, get to MT and tell him the reality on the ground so that changes can be made before its too late. The kitchen cabinet is hiding the truth. Fortunately today the truth could not
be hidden.

Panic Hits ZRP Police Station As Goblins Shave Cops’ Heads

Terrence Mawawa, Gutu| There was panic at Gutu Police Camp, Mpandawana town last week when two notorious cops woke up bald-headed in mysterious circumstances.
Sources at the camp said the officers were shocked to the heart following the bizarre incident in which the cops’ heads were “shaved” by suspected goblins.
Many CIO and ZRP cops are known for authorising witchcraft charms on their lives bowing down to N’angas instead of Jesus Christ and God, when they think they are creating fortunes, they are in effect bringing misery on their lives, a local pastor warned yesterday.
ZRP ZRP police ZRP
One of the affected officers expressed extreme shock at the incident. “It also happened to my colleague,” said the cop who declined to be named.
ZimEye.com is reliably informed the two affected cops reported the bizarre matter to the Officer In Charge and a parade was immediately organised.
Sources claimed the parade was aborted after the Officer In Charge was soon afterwards hit by said “invisible things”, suspected to be goblins.
Asked to comment on the incident Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he was unaware of the story.
“I have talked to the officers in Gutu and they have not told me about such an incident. So there is nothing of that sort I have heard of and I think it could be mere imagination,” said Dhewa.

Mugabe Must Rest Now: Fidelis Fengu

Zanu PF youth member Fidelis Fengu has come out blasting medical advisory details saying that the Head of State and government, President Robert Mugabe must retire now.
Posting on his social networking portal, Fengu said the President must now rest and also allow succession discussions to be held freely with no limitation.
‘Yes it’s true and I agree, Gushungo needs to rest and we need to openly discuss succession without restrictions or factionalisation(sic) of the issue’, said Fengu.
This is a first in the ruling party when a party insider has come out to charge that the President who at present has albeit been endorsed by several provinces for the 2018 Zanu PF Presidential, needs to rest.
Mr. Fengu went further to say the party should open doors on the succession issue which to date has been treated as a taboo leading to many cadres being booted out.
“Let those who support Mnangagwa do so and they can campaign as much as they like without insulting anyone. Let those who support Sekeramayi or Kasukuwere or whoever, do so and campaign.’ added Fengu.
“Can we support succession in unity; peace and with focus on development of Zanu PF and Zimbabwe the succession issue is a great chance for Gushungo to shine”, he concluded.
Such a stance on the succession issue in Zanu PF has before been treated as a crime against the First Family.
But Fengu went further to say that the succession issue must even be debated in the party on national television.
Fengu is now set against Mugabe who during his annual birthday interview two months ago, charged claiming that he is still fit to rule.

Mugabe Is Stubborn, Never Listens: Mujuru

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru, now the leader of Zimbabwe People First (ZPF), has spoken out describing her time that she spent being the vice president as the most frustrating part of her political career. She says President Mugabe never listened to her advice and neither did he listen to anyone else.
Mujuru said this on Wednesday at a meeting with ZPF Harare province youths. She told the youths that she was guided by traditional and Christian values and, as such, she was not interested in slogans denouncing other people.
“Pasina na Tsvangirai or someone like that means that person must die. This is what we were taught during the liberation war training and it was meant for the people that we were fighting against and was never meant to be repeated later.
“This is why I am appealing to all the youths who are gathered here to desist from uttering slogans such as being used by Zanu PF. Never use such slogans; they promote hate and disharmony within the country.”Mujuru also said that she was never part of any Zanu PF political dirty games that were played against opposition leaders and their followers. She also told the youths that between April and June ZPF will be registering new members. Mujuru said a membership card similar to a visa card with a chip was being designed and would be unveiled soon.
“In July, there shall be ward elections followed by elections at constituency level in August; come September provincial polls and then October elective congress,” said Mujuru.
The former Zanu PF number two was sacked from the ruling party in December 2014 during the run up to the party’s congress. She alongside other Zanu PF stalwarts, were fired on allegations of plotting to remove Mugabe from power, witchcraft and fanning factionalism. – State Media

Prison Officer Robs Man At Knifepoint

A prison guard appeared in court accused of allegedly assaulting and robbing a Bulawayo man at knifepoint and getting away with his mobile phone and $10.
Shylock Tshuma, stationed at Khami Prison, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya and pleaded not guilty to one count of robbery. He was remanded in custody to April 15.
Prosecuting, Denmore Kasenza, alleged that on April 3 at around 5AM, Nkosizwile Masuku was walking along Herbert Chitepo and 4th Avenue when Tshuma approached him.
“Tshuma was in the company of three accomplices who are on the run. One of the men was armed with an okapi knife which they used to instill fear in Masuku,” said Kasenza.
“As one of the men held the knife, the other three assaulted Masuku and took away his cellphone and $10 and disappeared into thin air. Masuku, however spotted Tshuma.”
The court heard that Masuku met Tshuma during a beer drinking binge five days later and managed to identify him.
“Masuku notified the police leading to Tshuma’s arrest. He failed to recover his phone and the stolen cash,” he said.
Recently, in an unrelated case another prison guard and a former police detective connived with a notorious criminal to steal $45,000 from Filabusi Post Office in Gwanda. The three suspects appeared before the Gwanda magistrates’ court facing unlawful entry and theft charges.
Mondli Dube, 23, a guard at Grey Prison in Bulawayo and Shepard Makwikwi, 39, were each granted $300 bail and ordered to report every Monday and Friday at Bulawayo Central Police Station. – state media

Mujuru Stomps Mugabe: SA Update | PICTURES

Zimbabweans in the Diaspora Vote Demonstrations in Pretoria
Zimbabweans in South Africa led by Joice Mujuru’s new party, yesterday came out in full force to stage a demo asking for the restoration of their rights to vote whilst they are out of their country.
All Zimbabweans who live and work in the Diaspora have been stripped of their right to vote. Every time they voted apart from the 1980 vote that brought Mugabe into power which was supervised by the British government.
In what might be a sign of Mujuru’s political strength, the marchers were escorted by members of the South African police service and the Pretoria metro. They proceeded from Marabastat to the Zimbabwean Embassy about four kilometers marching and dancing all the way. At the Embassy they were addressed by Lawrence Mavhaire a coordinator of Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First party.
Mavhaire stressed that Zimbabweans in the Diaspora should be allowed to vote. He also stressed the need for the Zimbabwean Embassy to help its citizens to obtain different services required to make life easier as it was hard to survive without papers such as passports and birth certificates.
However at the embassy they were received by two people who claimed to stand in for the ambassador who said he was in Zimbabwe for a funeral.
The protesters said they will be back next week.

Workers Steal from Mugabe’s Business

The workers of Alpha Omega Dairy which is a Subsidiary of Gushungo Holdings owned by the First Family have appeared in court facing theft charges.
The 13 workers are facing charges of stealing various dairy products valued at $704,50, but all of them are denying the charges.
James Wellington Mugombi (35), who is employed as a factory manager, Zondai Kayinga (28), a security guard, Kenneth Mugabe (40) a truck driver, Jacob Musasa (42), sales representative responsible for the entire management of the company, Abel Mutongerwa (33) assistant sales representative responsible for vendors, Alec Kudangirana (27), Mackenzi Richard Makufa (35), Abraham Chiwurira (36), Ignatius Mubani (34), Tafadzwa Chidzedzedze (25), Joramu Mugundani (25), Takudzwa Muchena (21) and Joseph Muzokura (21) — who are all warehouse assistants — are facing theft charges.
In denying the charges, Chidzedzedze, Mugundani, Muchena and Muzokura said their duties were only to offload goods from the truck. They told the court that they saw the excess goods while offloading the truck and reported the matter to the security personnel.
Harare magistrate Ms Vongai Muchuchuti deferred the matter to April 26 for trial continuation.  Allegations are that sometime this month, Nyoni received information that the 13 were conniving to steal stocks from Alpha Omega depot in Mazowe.
The court heard that Mugombi would instruct Mukufa to load extra goods in the delivery trucks from Mazowe depot to the Harare distribution depot after conniving with Mubani, who is based in Harare.
It is alleged that Mukufa would also team up with Kudangirana and Chiwurira to load extra goods in the presence of Kayinga, who would then certify that the goods loaded tallied with the accompanying invoices.
The goods would be driven to Harare by Mugabe. Upon receiving the extra goods, Mubani and his assistants Chidzedzedze, Magundani, Muchena, Muzokura, Mutongerwa, Musasa and Mugabe would sell the extra goods and the money realised would be shared between the entire team.
The court heard that, acting on a tip-off on December 19, Nyoni and his assistant Oren Hove went to the Harare depot and upon arrival they made an on-the-spot check and discovered variances in stock in the system and the actual stock at hand.
This prompted Nyoni to put an immediate measure that all stock from the Mazowe depot was to be verified upon delivery by him, and this measure was effected without the knowledge of the 13.
It is alleged that on December 20, at around midday, the 13 accused persons, using the usual modus operandi loaded and despatched a truck to Harare distribution depot being driven by Mugabe.
Upon arrival, it is alleged that Nyoni supervised the offloading of the truck and discovered that it was loaded with extra goods, leading to the arrest of the 13. -state media

Tsvangirai Mocks Police Over Failed Dem Ban

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Thursday said he was humbled by the massive turn up of his supporters for a successful peaceful demonstration against the “brutal” Zanu PF regime.
The MDC-T staged a demonstration upon which it was expressing concern on the mysterious “missing” $15 billion diamond revenue.
The demonstration was initially called off by the police and preceded after the Kennedy Masiye and Sharon Hofisi from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights on Wednesday mounted a challenge against the ban.
On his Twitter handle after the march Tsvangirai wrote, “Thank you so much for showing up and demonstrating in peace against this brutal regime”.
Feeling threatened by the huge crowd the MDC-T leader still has Zanu PF propagandist and spin doctor Professor Jonathan Moyo downplayed the former Premier calling the demonstration as anti nationalism.
“MDC-T demonstrations against spirit of independence? Misfits of society. Three days to go before the historic day!,”Moyo wrote on his twitter handle.
The police during the peaceful demonstration arrested MDC-T MP for Bulawayo East, Thabitha Khumalo for unspecified reasons. This came after another senior Tsvangirai lieutenant and Harare West, MP Jessie Majome had received death threats the night before ordering her not to participate in the Harare protest march.

Delta Profits Nosedive 7%

Beverage manufacturer Delta Corporation on Thursday reported a 7 percent decline in revenue for the year to 31 March on soft consumer demand and increased competition from imports.
The company issued a trading update ahead of the May 12 release of its 2016 financials.
Delta said lager beer volume was down 12 percent in the final quarter of the year, compared to the same quarter of the previous year and 8 percent lower on a year-on-year basis. This is despite price cuts between 3 and 11 percent for its lagers at the start of the third quarter.
The company said it would continue to review its pricing.
Delta’s revenue has been falling on an annual basis since 2013, reflecting Zimbabwe’s stalling economic recovery.
“The Group’s volume and revenue performance largely mirrors the subdued economic activity during the period. There is some infiltration of product from adjacent markets due to the weaker regional currencies. Consumers continue to shift towards affordable brands,” the company said.
Sparkling beverages volume declined 6 percent year-on-year, but increased by 6 percent above the corresponding quarter of FY2015.
The sorhgum beer segment, which saw stellar volume growth since the introduction of Chibuku Super in 2012, registered a 3 percent decline for the full year, although sales were 15 percent up on the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The Alternative beverages volume (Maheu and dairy mix beverages) was 2 percent down for the full year but 9 percent up for the quarter compared to prior year.
Delta, the largest capitalised stock on the ZSE, traded at 57.33 cents on Thursday.-The Source

IDC Slapped, Loses Loan Over Mugabe Sanctions

IDC----The Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe (IDCZ) says it failed to secure a second loan facility from IDC South Africa, which has cited sanctions on some IDCZ subsidiaries by the United States government.
The US imposed “targeted” sanctions on 98 individuals and 68 state-owned entities in 2003, reacting to allegations of gross human rights abuses and electoral fraud levelled against President Robert Mugabe’s administration. Mugabe denies the allegations, and argues that the sanctions were revenge for his expropriation of white owned land which he redistributed to landless blacks.
IDCZ says it has lost over $20 million to the United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control with the Zimbabwe Fertilizer Company, one of its subsidiary, still having $5 million frozen to date.
IDCZ chief executive officer Mike Ndudzo said in an interview that the company has been re-negotiating a $10 million loan facility which IDC SA turned down on the basis of sanctions.
“IDC South Africa gave us as a group an $18 million loan facility through Agribank. However, when we applied for the second tranche, they cited sanctions and denied us the facility,” he said.
Ndudzo said the facility was aimed at re-capitalizing its struggling business units. He said in the medium term, IDZ needs an injection of $104 million to increase capacity across its subsidiaries.
He said the 15 IDCZ subsidiaries were struggling to do any telegraphic transactions with any international finance institution, making it difficult to pay for raw materials or make other payments.
Apart from seeking loans, the group has tried to raise capital through disposal of stakes in its various subsidiaries, but it has failed to find buyers.
The company plans to sell its interests in Stone Holdings, Amtec, Deven, G and W, Almin Metal Industries, Surface Investments, National Fertiliser Industries, Zim Copper and Zimbabwe Grain Bag.
Large investments comprising Chemplex Corporation, ZimGlass, Olivine Industries and Willowvale Mazda Motor Industries need refurbishment capital and have been earmarked for ownership dilution.
Meanwhile, Ndudzo said the group is now close to finishing re-payment of the $18 million loan and will explore other ways to recapitalise its units.
The IDC, which was formed in 1963 through an act of Parliament, is a self–financing institution whose business interests include fertiliser production, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, horticulture, retail, services among others.-TheSource

Thabitha Khumalo Arrested as Majome Gets Death Threats | BREAKING NEWS

arrested...Thabitha Khumalo (centre) - FILE PICTURE taken last week
arrested…Thabitha Khumalo (centre) – FILE PICTURE taken last week

MDC-T MP for Bulawayo East, Thabitha Khumalo has been arrested.
Khumalo was dragged away from her Harvest House office this afternoon by notorious ZRP cops from the CID special branch. The development came as Harare West, MP Jessie Majome received death threats the night before ordering her not to participate in the Harare protest march.
At the time of writing Khumalo was caged at the Harare Central police station, fearing the worst for her life.
Police sources were clueless on charges to lay against her and ZimEye.com was told officers were at the time of writing searching for possible allegations to justify the arrest.
The raid came after her party held a successful march in protest for the missing $15 billion.
Harare West Majome revealed the night before she received disturbing death threats from Victoria Falls where she is currently holding parliamentary workshops. Below was her narration:
“Dear Harare Westerners and friends
THE RETURN OF THE DEATH THREATS!
I got these 4 death threat sms messages last night from ‘Hitman’ for my family (including my…..wife!) and myself for involvement in, and if I participated in today’s epic misrule protest march. I wonder how many others got such threats. The messages are in the pictures below.
But , from the pictures I’m seeing from Victoria Falls(I am conducting Parliamentary Public Hearings on the NPRC Bill) the threats have been a utter waste of time. God is in control! We are not a nation of sheep.

My last death threat was in September on the official opening of Parliamentof Zimbabwe, for daring to demand a Constitutional state of the nation address. The police and Parliament refused to investigate them so I know that the CIO machinery uses State resources to block the expression of democratic freedoms, in a very cowardly manner.
Your MP

CIO Mystery as Tycoon Commits Suicide Over $50,000 Debt

Terrence Mawawa Bikita | There was a cloud mystery here when a prominent local businessman last week took his life after failing to cope with a ballooning debt of more than $50 000 (some which he owed dreaded senior CIO agents).
Boniface Mujaji, who was owner of DME Garare at Nyika Growth, drank poison last Friday and died on the same day at Silveira Mission Hospital.
Mujaji who was also a car dealer, could not cope with the mounting debt and decided to commit suicide, his close relatives told ZimEye. They however failed to dispel questions over the role of the CIO in the death.
It is understood his debt was in excess of $ 50 000.
One of Mujaji’s clients, Wibert Chakanyuka, said he was owed $7000 by the late businessman after he gave him the money to purchase a Toyota Granvia vehicle via the internet. Mujaji failed to deliver the vehicle and Chakanyuka took the matter to court.
Mujaji also owed many other people money, including senior (CIO) state security agents.
“It is true that Mujaji had my $7,000. I had since sued him and the case was supposed to be heard at the Bikita Magistrate court. It is unfortunate he took his life before the matter could be settled,” said Chakanyuka.
A shocked relative said it was unfortunate Mujaji decided to take his life.
“We are still disturbed by Mujaji’s untimely death,” said Mujaji’s relative who chose to remain anonymous.
There was pandemonium at the funeral as some angry relatives threatened to beat up individuals thought to be reporters. The incident has left residents of Nyika Growth Point stunned since Mujaji was a prominent figure in the area.

We Will Close The Zim Embassy In SA – Mujuru

Staff Reporter| The Joice Mujuru led Zimbabwe People First says it will close the Zimbabwean embassy in South Africa if efforts to get Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to vote from their countries of residence fail.
Speaking on South African E News Channel this morning, the party’s South Africa Provincial Coordinator Lawrence Mavhaire said that if the Zimbabwean Government fails to uphold the constitutional provision giving every Zimbabwean a right to vote regardless of where they are, Zimbabweans living in South Africa will march to the embassy and close it down.
“If we are not granted our right to vote we will march to the embassy and force it to close down because it will not be serving any purpose,” said Mavhaire.
The South African based members of the party will today march to the Zimbabwean embassy to present a petition signed by Zimbabweans based in South Africa demanding that they be given a right to vote from South Africa in the next election.
Mavhaire said that the Zimbabweans’ petition to the ambassador is demanding parliament to immediately align the Electoral Act to the constitutional provisions to make it possible for all Zimbabweans living outside the country to vote.
“If parliament fails to address the matter we will take it up with the Constitutional Court which must make a ruling to out law the Electoral Act provision,” he said.
Asked if the demand was only for Zimbabweans based in South Africa, Mavhaire said that the demand is for all Zimbabweans living outside the country and his party is busy mobilising similar demonstrations elsewhere in the diaspora.
It is estimated that about six million adult Zimbabweans are living outside the country with about three million of those in South Africa only.

MDC Marches Against Poverty And Corruption

The March Against Poverty and Corruption is going ahead as scheduled :
The MDC-T Secretary General has issued the following below statement about today’s planed march.
We assemble at the Freedom Square and get a briefing from the Organising Department. We emphasise that this is a peaceful march. It is sanctioned by the High Court.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Our demands to the government are clear and straight forward. We have won together before and we can still win again today. All we need to have is discipline and unity of purpose. This is no time for hate language among ourselves.
Zimbabwe has suffered enough at the hands of this regime but the people shall prevail. Victory is certain.

Churches Order Mugabe to Step Down

Mugabe falls asleep in front of cameras while standing

A GROUP of clergymen operating under the banner, Christian Voice International Zimbabwe (CVI-Z), has added its voice to growing calls for President Robert Mugabe to step down over “his failed economic policies” and worsening human rights record.
Old-frail-Mugabe-addressing-at-National-sports-stadium
CVI-Z president, Tapfumaneyi Zenda said Zimbabweans had suffered for a long time under Mugabe’s misrule and urged him to step down and stop holding the nation to ransom.
“As long as the President does not want to genuinely repent and to find a notable gesture for the butchered people and the surviving relatives, he continues to hold Zimbabweans to ransom. The honourable thing for him to do is stepping down,” he said in a statement.
Zenda said the role of the church was to act as a neutral mediator to help find lasting solutions for the nation and speaking out against oppression.
He said they were not, by any means, trying to meddle in politics, adding it would be misplaced for people to accuse them of siding with opposition politics.
“That is the mentality that has corrupted our society, that when you speak the truth, you will be labelled opposition. Our message is that let the truth be told as the truth and even the Bible says so. As the church, we are speaking on behalf of the oppressed.”
This comes hard on the heels of repeated calls by opposition parties for Mugabe — who turned 92 in February — to allow for leadership renewal, as the economy continues to nosedive.
On Tuesday, a section of war veterans believed to be aligned to former Vice-President Joice Mujuru also expressed dissatisfaction with Mugabe, saying they no longer supported his candidature for the 2018 elections.
CVI-Z said a lot of human rights abuses had taken place under Mugabe’s watch, particularly the Gukurahundi massacres, Operation Murambatsvina, the economic meltdown and high levels of underdevelopment, poor service delivery, corruption and the missing $15 billion from diamond revenue.Newsday

Uebert Angel and Wicknell Chivayo

Uebert Angel: I am worth $60million
Wicknell Chivayo: I am worth $200million

Uebert Angel: “Everyone who criticises President Mugabe is poor”
Wicknell Chivayo: “People who attack the President are miserable.”

The ZIFA sponsorship gaffe which began last week, has led to humiliated donor Wicknell Chivayo being not only slammed, but also paired with controversial preacher, Uebert Angel.
The two were labelled narcissists, meaning, people who define themselves by things(material possessions) around them. Narcissism is defined as “excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one’s physical appearance.” Other definitions say it is “extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type.
PSYCHOANALYSIS- self-centredness arising from failure to distinguish the self from external objects, either in very young babies or as a feature of mental disorder”.
Uebert Angel is on record bragging that he is worth $60million, with Chivayo boasting of his $200million tender said “wealth.”
The development comes after Angel (real name Mudzanire, altered when he was listed for academic fraud)’s wife, was seen showing off a $US400 000 Lamborghini sports car bought as a Valentines present, by the husband: PICTURE –

ACCIDENT: NRZ Train Crashes in Glendale

As the National Railways of Zimbabwe workers’ industrial action enters its third week, a makeshift technical staff manning the parastatal’s locomotives yesterday crashed down a goods training carrying over 80 000 tonnes of drought relief maize.
The train traveling from Harare to Shamva, derailed in Glendale shortly after its departure from the GMB in Harare.
Causes of the derailment were not disclosed by the government at the time of writing, but sources within the parastatal blamed the accident on inexperienced staff running company due to the industrial action by the workers.
Residents in the area quickly helped themselves to the maize before members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrived to guard the maize.

School Head Steals $ 6000 Cash

Terrence Mawawa, Chiredzi|A headmaster here stole at least $ 6000 cash from the school coffers through forging bank funds transfer documents.
Chibwedziva Secondary School head , Zenda Simbarashe Jackson(53) last week appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Geraldine Mutsotso facing three counts of fraud and three counts of forgery. Zenda forged the bank funds transfer documents by appending a signature which he purportedly presented to the bank as having been signed by Thulani Siphumise, who is the School Development Committee(SDC) vice chairperson.
On May 30 around 12pm Jackson also forged Siphumise’s signature to withdraw cash from CBZ. He also misrepresented himself on several occasions and withdrew cash from CBZ. Through forging documents, Jackson stole at least $6000 from the school account. Meanwhile SDC sources said there was need to carry out further audits since there were more fraudulent activities yet to be unearthed. “There is need to carry out further audits at the school. We know that a lot of sinister activities took place at the school. It is unfortunate Jackson forged the vice chairperson’s signature in order to withdraw cash from the school account without the SDC’s approval,” said a member of the Chibwedziva SDC.
Cases of school heads involved in the embezzlement of funds have been on the increase and last year a headmaster in Bikita took his own life after failing to account for thousands of dollars.

War veterans leader Christopher Mutsvangwa, has rubbished a claim that he during a Zifm interview this week, uttered words to the effect of declaring that People First leader Joice Mujuru is “the vital trunk” that holds Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.
An unsolicited message circulating yesterday ascribed the following words to Mutsvangwa:”It was a grave mistake for Zanu PF including me to expel mai Mujuru. I will not be surprised if someone told me that she went away with 60% of Zanu pf supporters. Ever since she left Zanupf, there is no peace. She was like a trunk on a tree. A trunk holds the tree. If there is no trunk, there is no tree to talk of,” Chris Mtsvangwa was said to have uttered on the radio station on the 12th April, 2016.
But Mutsvangwa last night told ZimEye.com, that claim is false. “Absolutely not true,” he said.
He continued, “Never had an interview with Zifm[this week],” he said as he added that it is all “concocted rubbish.”
A perusal of Zifm interview archives also appeared to confirm that the aforementioned words were never uttered by Mutsvangwa as there was no programming listing branded with Mutsvangwa’s name.

Woman Bashes Hubby, Mother In Law

A Mvuma woman assaulted her husband and when he escaped to her mother’s homestead, Siphilisiwe Chivasa, also attacked her mother-in-law accusing her of meddling in her son’s marriage.
Siphilisiwe, 22, and her sibling Easter Chivasa, 24, appeared before Mvuma magistrate, Vimbai Makora, facing assault charges. The mother-in-law, Anna Mutema, suffered bruises all over her body.
The two sisters both of Baru Village in Mvuma pleaded guilty to the assault charge. They were each sentenced to 18 months in prison. Six months of their sentences were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The magistrate described the duo’s actions as barbaric. Prosecuting, Bernard Nyoni said on March 25 this year at around 7PM, Mutema’s son had a misunderstanding with his wife Siphilisiwe.
Easter who had visited her sister intervened, taking her side. “Siphilisiwe and her sister Easter assaulted her husband who rushed to his mother’s place and reported the matter,” said Nyoni.
He said Mutema went to her son’s homestead in a bid to resolve the misunderstanding.
However, Nyoni said when she got there; the siblings attacked her accusing her of meddling in her son’s marriage.
“Unfortunately Easter who was very aggressive, charged angrily towards Mutema and started beating her up until she fell down,” said Nyoni.
“Siphilisiwe joined in and beat up Mutema and also twisted her right hand. Mutema sustained a fracture and was taken to Mvuma District Hospital for medication.” State Media

Kangai Dodges $11million Cash Repayment

Dodger...Reward Kangai
Dodger…Reward Kangai
Former NetOne management led by suspended CEO Mr Reward Kangai who owned Firstel Cellular, do not want to pay the $11 million that they owe the Government-owned mobile operator after they applied for liquidation of the firm at the High Court.
The former management owned Firstel in their individual capacities. NetOne and Firstel Cellular entered into a service provider agreement in which Firstel was mandated to find clients for NetOne contract lines and then remit the money collected from the subscribers to the service provider, less its commission.
However, the company did not remit the proceeds resulting in NetOne approaching the courts with the High Court and Supreme Court ruling that Firstel was supposed to pay the mobile operator the debt of about $8,3 million in January last year.
But the debt has since ballooned to about $11 million. Sources said the management was reluctant to pay, arguing that they had failed to collect the money after the introduction of the multi-currency system in 2009 as subscribers failed to settle their bills.
“So, management first approached the board requesting that the debt be written off, but after (the) board declined the request, they approached the High Court applying for liquidation,” said a source. “What it effectively means is that the former management wants liquidation so that they do not settle the $11 million debt that they owe NetOne, which is unacceptable.”
In an application filed with the High Court, Firstel company secretary, Mr Tamuka Madzore said his company was saddled with a $12 million debt with the bulk of it belonging to NetOne. “The application is being made for the reasons that the applicant is unable to pay its debts,” said Mr Madzore.
“The applicant currently has liabilities in the sum of $11 821 056, 93 of which the sum of $11 245 805, 23 is owed to one creditor.” “The applicant has failed to pay off these amounts and is no longer in operation as it has closed most of its branches throughout the country, leaving only the head office in Harare.
“Resultantly, the applicant is not able to service its debts. It is for these reasons that the board of directors has resolved that the company be placed under provisional liquidation.” Firstel recommended that Regatta Financial Advisory Services be appointed as their provisional liquidator.
Contacted for comment, NetOne board chairperson, Mr Alex Marufu said: “I do not have enough information to be able to comment at this moment.” However, at a press conference late last month, Mr Marufu confirmed that Firstel Cellular, owned by the Kangai-led management was the mobile operator’s biggest debtor.
The NetOne board last month, suspended several top level managers at the firm following the unravelling of irregularities. They have since ordered a forensic audit to establish the financial damage the company suffered under the leadership of Mr Kangai. State Media

Soldier Rapes Minor, Flees

Police officers had a hard time tracking a soldier who was fleeing arrest over rape charges that they had to unleash sniffer dogs to apprehend him.
Seven Munetsi, 31, of Glen Norah B in Harare went into hiding after his housemaid had filed rape charges against him.
“After the accused person realised that police officers had put him on the wanted list, he fled (and), he was finally apprehended with the help of a sniffer dog called Tiger,” said the investigating officer.
“When we arrived at the scene of arrest, Munetsi came out holding a hoe and tried to strike us.” Munetsi was sentenced to six months imprisonment wholly suspended on condition that he deposits a $500 fine.
“The court ought to consider that the accused person committed this offence out of ‘greed and not need’ considering that he was a married man entitled to conjugal rights,” said prosecutor Ressy Nyamombe during aggravation.
“Offences of this nature are on the rise and a deterrent sentence is called for to send a signal to like-mined individuals that our courts do not tolerate such conduct. The accused person exposed the juvenile to the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections.”
The complainant, 14, was from the same neighbourhood as Munetsi.
Nyamombe proved that sometime in October last year, Munetsi took advantage of his wife’s absence and entered a room in which the victim was sleeping.
Munetsi then lifted the complainant to his bedroom and forcibly removed her clothes before raping her.
The court heard that the juvenile cried for help but Munetsi threatened to assault her if she divulged the ordeal to anyone.
After that incident, Munetsi regularly forced himself on the juvenile whenever he wished.
On February 25, around midnight Munetsi went into the room where the minor was sleeping with two of his children.
He lifted the girl to his room and ordered her to strip naked but she refused and he forcibly did so. The girl cried for help but no one came to her rescue since it was raining.
The following morning she went to the police station and made a formal report.
Although Munetsi was initially charged with rape Harare regional magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni convicted him of having sex with a minor after considering that circumstances reflected that both parties could have consented.

Lawyers stage victory over the police

Thanks to lawyers Kennedy Masiye and Sharon Hofisi of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights who mounted the legal battle at the High Court and successfully argued to secure a court order from High Court Judge Justice Happias Zhou interdicting Zimbabwe Republic Police officers from interfering with an MDC-T protest against rising poverty and the corruption scourge in Zimbabwe, the suit pulled through.
The lawyers filed an urgent chamber application at the High Court Tuesday evening seeking to interdict the Zimbabwe Republic Police from interfering with its planned protest scheduled for Thursday 14 April 2016 against rising poverty levels and corruption in Zimbabwe.
In the application (Case Number 3848/16), Masiye and Hofisi asked the High Court to issue an order barring Chief Superintent Newbert Saunyama, the ZRP Officer Commanding Harare Central District, Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri and Home Affairs Minister Ignatius Chombo not to interfere with the MDC-T’s protest and for them not to interrupt, disturb or discourage the opposition party’s supporters from participating in the demonstration. The filing of the urgent chamber application was prompted by the ZRP’s response to the MDC-T’s notification to stage the demonstration of which the police “discouraged” the opposition party from protesting on the basis that “mass demonstrations interrupts the smooth flow of both human and vehicular traffic and that there is not enough manpower to cover the demonstration as “most police officers will be engaged in preparation for independence celebrations.”

Former Vice President now leader of the opposition Zimbabwe People First Joice Mujuru has mourned the late Victoria Chitepo who died on the 8th of April.
In her message, Mujuru describes the sudden death of Chitepo as a shock to her party.
Mujuru described Chitepo as a dedicated fighter for the liberation and development of the country both before and after independence and a rare woman nationalist.
“As Zimbabwe People First (ZIMPF), we learnt with sorrow and sadness about the untimely and tragic death of Gogo Victoria Chitepo…”
Gogo Chitepo contributed immensely to the liberation and development of this country before and after independence. She represented that rare breed of early nationalist women who sacrificed their lives to support their husbands…”
Mujuru who spent several years working with Chitepo in her days in ZANU PF praised the late nationalist for single handedly taking care of her family while her husband veteran nationalist Herbert Chitepo was out leading the liberation struggle or in prison.
She expressed her heartfelt condolences to the Chitepo family on the sad loss of Victoria.
“On behalf of my party, ZimPF, my family and my own behalf, I wish to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Chitepo family on the passing on of Gogo Chitepo, a gallant fighter and patriotic daughter of Zimbabwe.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the children of Gogo Chitepo. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
Chitepo will be buried at the National Heroes Acre today. Officials within Mujuru’s office however expressed sadness that Mujuru will not be able to attend Chitepo’s burial due to the ZANU PF protocol that would not allow her at the national shrine for the burial.
Opposition parties have expressed concern at ZANU PF’s manipulation of national events such as national heroes declaration and burial.

ZAPU To March Against Mugabe in Belfast

Staff Reporter
As opposition parties pile pressure against the governance of the country by President Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF, the Dumiso Dabengwa led ZAPU has also joined in the massive public demonstrations to send a message of displeasure on the state of the nation.
ZAPU Belfast branch in the United Kingdom will be commemorating the country’s 36th independence by holding a march against the ZANU PF government in the small town, on Independence Day.
According to Sipho Sibanda, a spokesperson for the organisers, the party members will be demonstrating against the ZANU PF government under the theme “Celebration of Zimbabwean National Independence Day – and a call for change.”
Sibanda said that a list of issues against Mugabe’s government will be tabled at the demonstration.
“Zimbabwe, under the rule of ZANU-PF, is a state which is marred by wide scale of human rights abuses, disregard of constitution by the ruling ZANU PF and  the state, in terms of the following,
√Laws of association
√The right to demonstrate
√Freedom of association
√Detentions without trial.
√Demolitions of homes
√Farm invasions.
√High levels of corruption in the government.” said Sibanda in a statement issued to media today.
“Many of the asylum seekers from Zimbabwe in Belfast today have come here fleeing persecution under the Mugabe’s regime.
We are therefore protesting to support democratic voices in Zimbabwe who want change, freedom and all our constitutional Rights,” reads the statement.
Other opposition parties are holding similar demonstrations on several issues against Mugabe’s government.
Morgan Tsvangirai will tomorrow be leading his party in a demonstration in Harare against the failed economy by Mugabe’s government while Joice Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First South African Province will be marching to the Zimbabwean embassy in Pretoria to demand that Zimbabweans living outside the country be allowed to vote in the next elections.

UK Zim Embassy: Mass Protest for “Abused” Zim Boy

A protest is underway at the Zim embassy in support of a Zimbabwean boy who is currently “trapped” in the building having fled into it for refuge last week.
The 16 year old boy is complaining of having been abused by British social workers, and is demanding free passage to fly back to Harare, embassy sources told this reporter.
The lad says he has endured months (a whole year) of turmoil under British care workers and has even been forced to seek asylum under the guise of a fake claim “merely so the social workers can satiate their work targets”.
A campaign for donations has since been launched to help sustain the boy and his mother in the building which has neither bathroom nor sleeping facility.
The British authorities are under fire for taking the boy away into their “care” from his mother as they were flying past London en route to Harare, in a case that has sent shockwaves in the Zim diaspora community, as the boy back then took advantage of the British police system, at the time saying that he does not like his home country, Zimbabwe.
What further irked Zimbabweans was the fact that the Zimbabwean and Canadian embassies were not informed of the actions taken by UK(The boy has both Zimbabwean and Canadian citizenship).
Families have raised concern that the lad was taken into British care even though he has no UK residency and was in transit past the island country to Harare. The social workers have obliviously opened a loophole to empower foreign children to obtain an easy way to live on British taxpayer funds.
But the same system does not allow him access to study as he explains in a public video…
