Leading human rights activist and torture survivor, Zimbabwe Peace Project Director, Jestina Mukoko, was this week honoured by US Second Lady Dr Jill Biden, among global activists, as they celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the International Women of Courage Award.
Mukoko a journalist by profession was on December 3, 2008, abducted during the night, from her home, by state security agents and held for several weeks in which she endured and survived the most gruesome torture.
In 2010 Mukoko, was awarded the International Women of Courage Award by the US government. In the picture coverage below Mukoko is seen with other women of courage from around the world, being honoured by Mrs Biden.
