Staff Reporter |The whereabouts of the #TheFlag Pastor Evan Mawarire have been a subject of much speculation over the past few days, he came out Saturday evening to allay fears,  revealing that he is currently in South-Africa and that he is well and fine.
State agents have over the years had a tendency of targeting democracy fighters with some like Itai Dzamara being made to disappear, but Mawarire allayed all rumours and concerns over his safety giving the assurance that he is fine. Mawarire who has become a figure of resilience in Zimbabwe and globally, has survived state harassment and attempted abductions over the past few days, with some speculating that he had been forced into hiding.
But not so with the preacher who sounding refreshed and confident of the mission ahead, in a new video encouraged everyone that he was fine assuring them that he had not been hurt in any way.

“God is doing something in Zimbabwe and you can’t get left out, usasaririre Mwari pavanenge vachigadzira nyika yedu kuti inake.”
“The reason we are raising our voices is because we are trying to build our country, you have done very well, at this stage Zimbabweans have found their voice and that is our greatest weapon, Our voice is our weapon never never keep quiet because that is how we build our country,” said Mawarire.
He emphasized non violent ways of airing grievances commending efforts so far that have had no violence or insults involved; “just using our voices and registering in a democratic way and that is going to help us, and the important thing is unity, that is what you Zimbabweans have made us so proud, you have done well in that area. You make everyone proud to be Zimbabwean.”
Mawarire said he was in SA and was meeting groups of Zimbabweans, “to talk about what is going on at home.” #ThisFlag campaigns continued today with demonstrations being held in South Africa and Australia.

  1. Pastor SHAME ON YOU
Don’t take Zimbabweans as fools and docile.
Yes many a Zimbabwean are a bunch of last coward docile lot.
Some of us know that you were sponsored by ZANU PF to divert the attention of the economic melt down in Zimbabwe.
People followed you foolishly and to be identified by authorities who will now be attested beaten and silenced.
    You fooled may Zimbabweans.
That is why in my past posting, I have always labbled Zimbabweans as a bunch of cowards and a docile lot.
Zimbabweans only know how to talk and belive in crooks like you for I don’t see in you as a saint.
    You are a spent force.
Its because you were used by Mugabe CIO that you now decide to run away.
How coincidence that just after your release you run away with mentioning to your so called supporters.
I challenge you to address the Zimbabweans if and when you return.
The CIO paid you heavely and you are out to enjoy that blood money leaving your supporters to ROT.
You are an evil rotten pastor

  2. While I appreciate the enthusiasm of this young man, let’s not forget that he is not a politician and neither does he have a framework in place to firstly communicate his message effectively to the large group of young people in the rural areas with no access to social media, and yet a critical voting base for moving any national agenda. He has no access to the army and/or police that is pivotal to any government take over. I just hope he (Evan) doesn’t get people’s hope high and later to disappoint many or get people killed. Just look at the USA, where since the 40s all presidents have failed to change healthcare until now with Obama. And there is no guarantee the healthcare changes he implemented will stay after he leaves office – and this is in a democratic country. My point here is that changes take time, and do not discount the opposition’s framework that has been put into place, which is the only machinery Zimbabweans, should ZANU PF decide to all of a sudden leave office. Evan wouldn’t be able to help you then because he’s not an organisation, but a person. The opposition party can because they have the infrastructure already. Never put your hopes in one man. Fight to get the opposition together so that opposition has one voice. Don’t be (as in all the oppositon parties), all over the place like ZANU PF. MDC has not wasted time and they are doing the right right thing still calling on international intervention, SADC etc to alert the world on what’s going … that is the infrastructure investors and lenders will look at, should ZANU PF step aside and there is some money lending to be done for the country

  4. Kodwa amandlwane lawo sure ….!!
Sad, the voices of reason are silenced by the same shrill cries of volume that brought us this
murderous dictatorship in 1980 in the first place — and good judgment being lost in the process! Now we are witnessing the same forces/group of people help entrench the same evil regime they are purporting to be getting rid of by these childish, reckless, and totally irresponsible actions; individuals who think a ‘revolution’ is a noisy wish!
And the minds who should be speaking out now, and who should have spoken out in 1980 – sure enough now against this regime, but CERTAINLY against this childish noise – are silent and silenced again….
Desperation is folly when it martyrs a revolution. And all of this is doing just that!!!
I can’t be silent; I can’t!! Not when I am witnessing the people being told that torching themselves and running in the wind is freedom. It’s madness; it’s a theatre of lunacy!
Watch this space in the coming weeks and months ….

  6. We love this pastor . What good would an abducted pastor, killed and thrown in a mine shaft do for us. Zanu is a killer party but its all coming to a head and nought. Mugabe you are fucked. The Lord will put you in your place. Those extra-judicial killings you have been presiding over will make you insane(mad). We have Pamire and others which you presided over which will haunt your oldness. You will never have peace at your advanced age because of the Jezebel woman you so much sought after. Wisdom is in acknowledging where you are in life. You thought you were capable when you were being advanced with Viagra and steroids. You are stupid because those young call of the Mugabe Clan are not. Do a DNA before you die and you will be shocked that your brother Donato had the ancestral know. Nonde pof those kidz are yoiurs. You fell for a hoe

  7. While in South Africa can Pastor Mawarire exchange notes with Julius Malema and get his plans for raising a new generation of genuinely empowered black South African leaders who are not fronts for white capital/supremacists and do not worship the white man.
