By Paul Nyathi |The Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC has suspended the party’s provincial chairman for Matabeleland South , Sonani “Njemnyama” Moyo  for allegedly attempting to assault the movement’s deputy President Thokozani Khupe.

According to a suspension letter written to Moyo, the suspended him for attempting to beat up  Khuphe  at a voter education meeting in Bulilima District.

Allegations are that Moyo on the 25th of November at a voter education meeting charged at Khuphe intending to assault her over an unmentioned misunderstanding before he was restrained by party National Organising Secretary Abednico Bhebhe and other members of the party.

Party insiders say Khuphe and Moyo have over the years been known to be bitter rivals and their relations further deteriorated recently after the MDC-T vice President publicly  opposed Tsvangirai’s decision to join the MDC Alliance.

MDC-T Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora could not immediately comment on the matter when contacted by ZimEye.com.

  1. WHy merely suspend him? Why not down right get rid of him? Khupe represents not only the top hierarchy of the MDCT but women in zimbabwe. There are too many of these events where she is threatened with being beaten up. Beating up women is not how MDCt people want to win their elections and be in power is it? Tsvangirai must address this with finalty. He has failed so far. Khupe cannot and should not live under threat.
