Speaking at the launch of Zimbabwe’s Agriculture policy at the Harare International Conference Centre, DFID’s Head of DFID Zimbabwe and South Africa, Annabel Gerry emphasised three areas which are Building confidence for private sector investment, Strategic use of agriculture subsidies, and thirdly, Creating a predictable policy environment.
At the afternoon function covered by ZimEye.com, she said, “I would just like to mention three policy issues that we see as critical, to enable jobs and growth and to build the agricultural sector: the first one is very obvious – building confidence and attracting private sector investments.
“We would want to see an agricultural policy that would safeguard property, and a review of the Land policy, and implementation to revise the indigenization policy will be able to provide the (property) safeguards.
“These are difficult issues but ultimately the progress of the country seems not to be made unless Zimbabweans can talk to themselves and it is for Zimbabweans to resolve how to manage those issues,” she said.
She continued saying the government must also look into a “policy that supports the increased role of the private sector…” VIDEO LOADING – refresh to watch:
