“She Festival” This May Aims to Empower Zimbabwean Women

A Correspondent| Get your ‘glad rags’ on, She Festival UK is ready to roll out the red carpet and treat you to a sumptuous evening of food, entertainment, networking and women empowerment.

The event, organised by Dorobucci Promotions, is a special installment of Zimbabwean women from all walks of life, coming together to continue their mission to merge diverse stories and inspire innovation.

Taking place on Saturday 19 May, the red carpet celebration is being held at the chic Hilton Metropole hotel in Birmingham.

Attendees will be treated to a three course meal and, Zim dancehall artist, Tocky Vibes is part of the entertainment line-up set to create a buzz.

Director of Ethta Events, Ethel Changa said that the event is about encouraging every woman in the diaspora to reach their full potential and make an impact, not only in the UK but across the globe.

“Every woman has a mandate and a purpose. As women we are all born to fulfil our purpose and make an impact in the world and this event is about empowering the ‘She’ in every woman,” Ethel said.

“We all have stories to share, experiences about life, love, family and business and this platform has been created to give every woman a voice and to encourage them, because as women, we all have something in us that the world already appreciates,” she added.

This year’s main keynote speaker is Rebecca Tsikirayi, popularly known as Mai Chisamba.

Mai Chisamba is one of Zimbabwe’s pioneering talk show hosts. She rose to fame with her popular TV programme, The Mai Chisamba Show, which covers topical issues that affect the modern Zimbabwean society.

The lauded TV personality also has a newspaper column where she gives advice to people who write in on a variety of issues that affect the everyday man and woman.

Prominent radio personality, Tilda Moyo-Karizamimba has also been announced as one of the main speakers who will be flying in from Zimbabwe.

The presenter, who currently hosts the self-titled show, Tilda on Star FM, is well known for tackling sensitive social issues. She also presents a popular show called Sunday Secrets and Confessions, which airs in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Other speakers announced for the event include, businesswoman, Fungai Ndemera, property mogul, Julie Condliffe, Immigration lawyer, Rumbi Bvunzwabaya and TV presenter Auntie Jenny.

A spokesperson for Dorrbucci Promotions said that there is a surprise guest speaker who will be revealed on the day.

“The event is coming together as planned and is promising to be a fun, dynamic and engaging event.

We have a revered and much loved surprise guest speaker who will be attending but we want to keep our guests in suspense and are hopeful that they will be equally as excited about them as we are.”

The organisers have encouraged the public to get their tickets as there are limited numbers left.

“The event has proved to be very popular and we are almost fully subscribed. We are calling on those who have not yet bought their tickets to ensure they purchase them before they sell-out.”

The She Festival is an annual gathering of women in the diaspora to empower, equip and discuss important issues they face on a daily basis, as well as share some of their experiences about life, motherhood, marriage and business, among other topics.
